Racing Harmonic Balancer for VG

    A172M-59SSAVW is part no, at least, that is what it is for US Z's. Don't know of any differences though for running UR 4 rib power steering pulley and underdrive crank pulley.

    Have found out the pulley needs to be for the NA pump only, can't use the TT one. Coz is sending another pulley now to fix it :)

    The offset is different but I wasn't aware of any other differences?

    Yep it would have been around 6 weeks if Chrissy did not get in the way and AFTER I received all or most of the deposits form those who put their hands up for one. It was the delay from some taking their time to give deposits that delayed things. Even then I was short with numbers so took the gamble that others will want and confirmed the order to make it all work.

    I spoke to Ross from Ross Balancers this morning and parts are off getting annodises and should be ready in about two weeks, so maybe before schedule although still plan on Feb sometime to be safe.

    able to squeeze a response to your ancient query regarding the weight of these wonderful works of art ..???? ..

    .. and a damn shame that christmas falls on 25 december every year ..!!! ..something should be done about that ...

    So you spoke to ross, but forgot to ask the weight of them? Surely they would know if they are getting them anodized? The whole point of these is for the weight difference and the fact that they damper. They will not damper better than the factory OEM pulley period. There is a big difference with inline 6 cranks and V6 cranks.

    Can we please get the weight of these? Can't you call them and find out?

    They don't know exactly at least only a rough guess until all the pieces are put together along with the special goo that holds them together or apart or both as such. As mentioned on this thread both ROSS and ATI who make high performance balancers don't make them too light for a reason and the higher hp models are heavier also for good reason although still lighter than factory. If you go to light and can't absorb resonance then no good and worse if too weak and come apart. Remember vibration also robs power. I think I mentioned earlier in the thread or maybe the start they will about a third or so lighter.

    Yes RB long cranks although this is why they are MORE prone to vibration than short V6 and hence why solid hunk of alloy does not work. As mentioned many times the RB26 cannot have a solid alloy pulley like zeds can get away with. RB engines with these pulleys fail every time as more prone to vibration. Tests on RB26 crank showed less vibration than factory OEM crank pulley and yes in some areas OEM can be improved on believe it or not. They are also much stronger for higher and faster revs and heat etc than factory one. They are mandatory for 10 seconds or faster cars by ANDRA as they know factory ones with big hp can and do let go.

    Mandatory for 10s cars? I have never heard of a stock one failing at high hp, if they did I don't think ash of all people would have kept the stock one. How did they simulate the engine firing pattern on the crank when testing the RB one? Also, the ATI ones need to be rebuilt very quickly according to what I read somewhere, so I don't think they are as durable as stock.

    Either way, ill wait for a proper date, and ATI haven't even made one for the Z. The ones they made didn't fit. You can always mirror balance your pulley to a new one anyhow.

    As I mentioned earlier in the post in one of the latest Option DVD's a big hip 350 Z factory harmonic balancer came apart at high rpm and actually exploded. Factory flywheels can and do same thing at drags almost wrote off a customers GTR last year and nearly wrote his car off as took out firewall and chassis rail and broke the block and bell housing. Lucky he was not hurt and why you also have to run a ballistic blanket for 10 sec or better car, required by Andra.

    Yes ATI ones recomend checking theirs every so often and rebuild and why I went with Ross ones whihc I believe are better design and more reliable.

    I know they tested generally with special equipment similating engine conditions and vibration but exactly how I don't know.

    Ash Powers - Z32 'guru' on TTNET - designed the ZEMulator - programmable EFI for Z

    Has also designed some really large side mount intercoolers and did some really interesting intercooler flow testing and 2.5 intercooler piping work- used to work for Z1

    Now I know

    I had not heard of him or maybe my head is in the sand?

    I checked out the site and flash fan shroud and would be the go especially for traffic slow speed, although 3000 cfm and 4000cfm must be a typo or different air or cfm in USA? as no 16 inch thermo fan will actually flow this especially in pull configuration.

    Hi Peter try giving them a call mate.

    They have been extremely busy relocating the shop due to the fire above there old shop so would presume that GB's would be the last thing on their minds at the moment. Drop em a line and hopefully you will find out.

    UPDATE

    Hi guys, not involved with organising this one obviously but was over at the new shop last night so have good some news for all.

    The balancers are built, balanced, anodised etc so have left ROSS and at the moment they're being engraved before delivery to UAS. Soo they are expecting them to arrive any day now. Might even make the february eta at this rate :D
