    Looks great dude

Just to let you know it takes about 10 mins to take off the rear wiper.

    Keep at it.

    cheers,

if i ever re wrap it i will, i took the rubber off so it was just a bolt with the hole exposed. Still looks pretty good.

cheers, up close the hatch has a few imperfections, including a seam and some dilodged bog :(. ah well, you gotta be pretty close to even notice.

had a play around with wrapping some more trim bits, it looks really good.

Now that all the small panels are done i have a heap off large offcuts that i wont be able to use for other panels so i think im gonna redo the targas and wrap the trim at the same time. That will be done when im closer to finishing though. Next up is the mirrors (i have abroken one) so i have on coming in the mail from another member. After that is done its the bonnet turn :D

    mini update:

Been doing a few little bits and pieces here and there today.

I got my rear infill panel (thanks gonzo) today and had alook, ill need to shape it up then im gonna wrap it and put it on.

I also started spraying my brake calipers in...Matte black :D
1 is complete and ill do the rest tomorrow and put some pics up. Im still waiting for my mirror which should be here fairly soon and ill wrap those then start thinking about the bonnet.

Hopefully all this is done by the 19th for the proposed cruise :zlove:

IMO this would look better unwrapped. It would look out of place not shining above the tails.

    Brake Calipers

Did the brake calipers today in black to enhance the stealth look. All i need now is to finish wrapping it and find some black rims (anyone want to swap :D?).

From the matte theme my shiny black zed wouldnt have passed. haha.

Totally awesome job you're doing. Be good to see some high res pics of it in time. To really see how good it does look.

    Keep up the good work.

    Cheers.

haha, butterfly effect..i probably wouldn't be wrapping if bought your zed. I love the idea of black and this is my way of getting there :p

Im pretty keen for it to be done, its just gonna take along time to get it to the standard i like. i ran into alot more problems on the hatch than i may have let on before, it was a very rough piece.

While typing this i just got given a mail slip so it looks like my mirror is here. Ill go pick that up tomorrow then get a plan going for wrapping that.

I saw a pic of a zed just before with black rims, im very keen on them now so if anyone even has an inkling to swap speak now (PM rather:)).

Been thinking about this now that you mentioned it. Im not sure how i would go about getting it gloss black, will a DIY spray do and if not what will a shop charge?

    cheers,

just question is that legal to wrap all the body with Carbon Fiber Sheet?

umm odd question. Vinyl wrapping is perfectly legal. Its main use is for advertising where a company will print onto it then apply it to a car, you would have seen this many times.

carbon fiber is just a different colour/pattern, i know a few people who have done carbon fiber wraps who are on this forum and it looks nice.

Thanks for the info Matt, because i think of to wrap all the zx body with carbon fiber (safe money rather to re spray the car)

    Thanks:D

It comes in all colours. The carbon fiber i would use for interior parts. I think if you did a full carbon fiber wrap the novelty factor would wear off fairly quick, but who knows..i havnt done it :)

I assumed it was just like an authentic infill panel - not black on the outside, but rather black on the inside with a layer of clear plastic over the top. Replicating that look with paint would be... painful, to say the least.

Didn't mention this, but wrapping it also presents a certain practicality problem - any third brake light you may or may not have will not be visible. By the sounds of it, you don't have one anyway :p IMO fork out for an authentic one with a brake light, and don't wrap it. That'd be sweet looking.

There was a dude who posted on the forum some time ago asking if it'd been done, and posted some pictures of his early model Focus that he'd just wrapped. Looked sort of cool, and saves you heaps in fuel after the rice conversion.

wrapping is the least most painful part of it all. If i had a third brake light there i could cut a line through it and fold it inwards as simply as that. And no im not getting a real one, ill be using a window mounted light :)

what i was thinking of was the lights have a glossy finish to them..so the infill panal completes that oval shape of shinyness:rolleyes:. I think the wrap should be fine for it though, and i can always change my mind later.

Exactly. But hey, if you can go back later, give both a shot :)

    Mirror - Drivers Side

Its been awhile since iv updated, had a few things on and been struggling to get stuck into it.

The mirror was a lot harder than i thought, i removed it to get it on and realised it was a slippery little thing.

Broken piece, not sure how it broke before the shell did, would take a lot of force to snap the sucker. (and no it wasnt me, previous owner)

Bit of a coat and a sand.

some more initial coating and sanding.

So when you put the mirror in you can see the old red paint (under the black) through the edges:confused:

    Now you dont...
    matte black spray ;)

Heres 2 pics of it i took tonight.
First is a dodgy iphone pic
second is a dodgy iphone pic with an effect :p

Hey murci, looking good, though I hadn't touched that
mirror previously until I removed it,
the last guy who I bought the car off was a complete wanker and stiffed me bad, it's unfortunate to see the mirror with that problem.

Looks good, what're you going to do when you come to interesting body parts such as door handles though?
