well had a play with it today..

removed all the air con parts from the engine bay.. damn some pipes just go every where..

also removed all the hicas from the engine bay. disconnected them from the power steering res and removed all the piping till the bottom of the engine bay where it follows the bottom of the car..

found a interesting wire on the head lights. was plugged into one head light but not the other.. chased the wiring to small relay box saying 'performance relays'.. does this mean i have peformance head lights lol there not hid as i can't find a box for the hids.. plus i continually going through head light globes so i might just remove this too..

sorry no pics for today.. all my pics will probably be getting removed as i need a new hosting site..

well back to it i suppose..

yeah all stock tune.. only real mods at the time was, rebuilt auto box, exhaust and bovs. i believe it was from running heaps of boost.. i should've run a boost leak test as there were boost hoses every where that i had forgotten about and had been chopped before i brought the car..

but it's gonna be brought back to life.. the zed will live lol

Guess I'll win the race to have my turbos spooling before yours :D :zlove:

Then again you ARE at a disadvantage with a wedding to plan/pay for...:p

My parts got here today from AMS and took them to engine builder! He said he'll be done in about 2 weeks and then I just have to finish assembly...so another couple weeks (taking my time!)

and then uh.... work out the cheapest way to swap the engines....HAHA

Damn Z is killing my bank..

adamness : quick way to drop engine.. get it on a hoist.. undo all teh shit u need to (ps lines ac lines e.t.c).. then undo the k frame and out she comes ;). (i got lazy a while back and had a forklift with a pallet under it to drop the whole lot in one go)..

my mate doesnt have a workshop anymore so i had to do another engine pull recently in the driveway.. not fun mate... engine out the top = time consuming effort could of spent that extra time drikning a box of black tins and admiring our work like last time :D.. get some pics up anyway mate keen to see what your building. what kind of setup are you going for??

Okay okay..When i get short block and heads back from mate I'll take some pics and do up a thread, I don't wanna steal stretch's thread!

Basically tho: full rebuild with forged internals t25/28 hybrid turbos (.86 A/R at the moment considering whether or not to change to .64) ported manis, 5 bolt dumps, nistune, bigger injectors. Nothing too extreme just a nice street build!

well the wedding is over. I went down stairs and washed the dust off the car LOL.. found the motivaton to work on it, and I get told i'm deploying out field..

So it's on hold again for another 2 weeks.. at least it's clean LOL

WOW today I made some progess!!

Took the block into the shop to get machined and honed. His gonna hone it outa little to see how bad the detenation damage was. Then once tepistons get here we'll bore it out to size.

Funny part was he asked what sort of pistons I was going to use, when I told him he said yeah I got some here already. I didn't ask why, then we carried the bare block in put it next to another zed block! Townsvile isnt that big a place LOL but to have two zed blocks! tuns out the other one was adamness's block LOL

Also continued to play with the wiring in the car some more. Slowly getting there :)

Have you ordered your parts from the US yet? If not make sure you talk to Vuk at AMS, he looked after me well.

Well I made a little progress today..

    - pulled out the paint stripped again, double gloved and it still melted thro and burnt my hands LOL but I managed to strip the black paint off the plenum and the bypass tube. I forgot how clean my plenum was before I painted it. almost tempted to polish it up LOL but it ain't gonna be happening.. I've masked it all up and it is ready to go to the powder coaters. I might have found found in townsville that isn't gonna charge me the earth!

    - covered up the electrical parts in the engine bay, and pulled out the degreaser. when the motor let go on the drags it made a mess. So I had to degrease all the engine bay, then I hosed off the degreaser, then blew dry the engine bay dry.
I then looked at the wheel arches and was thinking about painting it. I pulled out the metho and gave it a good scrub, grabbed some liquid polish and the black came up looking really good. So it ain't gonna get painted just detailed up.

    - I am still waiting for my block. I dropped off my pistons to DC engines to get the block bored out to suit the oversized pistons. And get the top slightly shaved.. It's all been acid dipped and looked great.. Hope fully get that back next week.

Then I just gotta get every thing balanced.. and then I can start putting it back together.. I only have to tape up some wires in the engine bay and that's ready for the motor.. and I have a heap of parts to get painted/powder coated.

Does any one know if you can get a gloss finish with powder coating? or would it be better to paint stuff? I was talking to some one about baking it the kitchen oven, asked the wife and was told hell no LOL..

Kinda tossing up between a couple of different looks. My mate has a GTR, and I really like the candy red on the plenum. Thought it would look different to paint the timing belt covers in the candy red, and polish up the plenum? and put 300zx-r on the top cover.. or just paint every thing black? I dont think the candy red will work with the green flames :( and I'm not allowed to paint the whole car candy red the wife has told me :)
