yes polishing chambers and exhaust smooth is good .. but happy as they are (100% better than stock) my pistons are ceramic coated so not touching them .
bit more progress Heads are finally on ! with Tomei head gaskets Match ported lower plenum to heads (fair bit of difference here) Matchported upper and lower plenums few parts sent off to get ceramic coated including HPC on manifolds and turbo housings .
same set up as my last engine .. I using a different block so had to re tap a new thread GTR Power FC runs twin AFM's and twin knock sensors .
test fitting turbos Test fitting turbos with MS manis and heatshield . originally fit with AMS ...had to modify intakes again to suit MS manis . Turbos do not sit in exact same location with these 2 manis interesting: with MS manis compared to AMS driver side intake sits 10 -15mm higher causing it to touch manis and the Passenger Side sits 10 -15 mm lower touching the engine mount. so had to reweld my 3" intakes to new location stock manis make the the turbos sit at least 20mm higher overall. its more noticable with my setup because of my welded intake pipes. this may explain how some people have dump pipe angle issues
Interesting Does the angle of the dangle mean you need to custom fab dump pipes or can you still "make" them line up? I understand this is not what your gonna do though
all dumps will/should fit , just explains why some are closer to the steering arm , some have had to tap the dumps for clearance etc
damn I love this build, quality gear everywhere you look. How's the bodywork coming, any more photos? & any idea of a ballpark eta, cant wait to see this thing done!
bodywork is pretty much done ... once engine is in will do a test/track fit with the wheels and then paint (maybe modify/pump out where front guard bolts to bar.) Apr wing coming will post up pics when its fitted. want the car starting up next month.
custom stainless turbo lines modified heater hose pipes and made custom turbo water lines in stainless steel with dash 6 fittings . Also incorporating a bleed valve.. (not yet fitted) actuators have been upgraded to 17psi springs from the 14psi that comes with the kit. this should guarantee to hold 25psi with boost controller
everthing has been test fitted fuel rail checked for leaks greddy underdriven pulleys all checked etc so everything is now going to be ceramic /HPC coated manis turbo housings plenum etc . then basically ready to go in !
dumps match porting AMS dump pipes to turbine housings to eliminate any possible turbulance and restriction .. there is a decent lip to remove .. things I found overall Flange size is a few mm smaller all round compared to the turbine housings and the flanges are mild steel not stainless. Also had to polish up all the welds internally as they were terrible . Not happy with the quality but they will do the job. ..
How did you go about marking the dump pipe flanges where they needed cleaning up? I ordered one of those quaife units as well.
