Yeah come on all give it a rest. Whats done is done there is no use dredging up past events of years ago lets move on. UAS has recovered from the events regarding the fire etc and working really hard to satisfy everyones needs. There will always be times when things dont go to plan and am sure we will always hear about them, but we never hear of the times when everything goes right and everyone is happy which surely happens as they have been in business a long time.

For the record I am fence sitting this one.

I agree with zed4life though. This thread should be locked now. People can make up their own minds with opinion for and against well expressed as well as the managers responses. Much better to be locked then let continue until its deleted then someone will just ask the same question again in 2 weeks time.

 

Dear Lloyd... note how long it's taken for Moderators to post in this thread. For one, I have stayed out of the discussion as I'd advised JP by PM some days ago to avoid flame wars but the message obviously fell on deaf ears. There is some real constructive criticism of UAS in this thread which JP might take on-board to improve customer relations and communication.

It is NOT a witch-hunt. Only ONE RBP has been rec'd and I can't (in all honesty) justify deletion although CLOSING the thread is an option.

PS: When is the Welcome to Sydney BBQ for Nathan on?

You and I go back a long way. After a rocky start we quickly accepted eachother and I class you & Lynne as a good friends (Even if we don't see much of eachother in person).

With the respect I have for you, I've been flattened that you would try to put those words in my mouth.

I have never suggested these attacks have been engineered by John in order to allow him to reply and in so doing, increase his profile ... My comment was (I thought) clearly in relation to the publicity John gets in this Z_related forum from both negative and positive comments from other members.

My intention was that there are a lot of other businesses that are restricted to posting in the For Sale by Business section. John gets lots of airtime in this Z_Related forum (and I fully appreciate this thread started in this section and John of course has the right to defend himself).

Nobody would want every other business to be encouraged to freely post in this section as often as they liked. That would push all the "help" posts off the 1st page into oblivion. This is not a commercially driven forum. Ben and Pete have been very clear about this.

John does a good job of defending himself (his replies are usually only a few minutes after a comment is made ) and has not (to my knowledge/memory) ever requested the mods to step in on his behalf.

Mods have copped plenty of flack of late being too 'judicial' with taking action so if anything, the amount of moderator action has dropped dramatically.

We get a lot of RBP's for John's 'info-mercials' but rarely do we ever act on them, so in that context, you could say that we are biased toward John's behalf by not deleting his "info" posts as many of them do contribute to the benefit of the forum. Many have a rightful place in Z_Related but some really should be in FSBB.

Most often the forum self-moderates quite effectively and we really only want to need to step in when things become violent, racist etc etc.

Finally, before you ask about me being both a mod and a business on this forum, you will see that the vast majority of my zedcare/zid info is kept in the FSBB section (except where someone has asked a related question in Z_Related).

Lloyd, it really upsets me that I feel I have to defend my actions to you. I guess the fact that I actually do care about you makes it so hard.

You and I are friends, and it is because of that friendship that I felt I could give an opinion (that even though it may be critical of what I felt were unfounded assertions against JP), would be received by you in the spirit in which they were intended, a call for fair play. Nothing more, and nothing less.
It is impossible for JP to post on these issues without being associated to his business(in the same way that John at Cresta is always associated with that business). In effect, that association deprives these and any other similar people/association, from having the same chance to explain/defend themselves without needing to be apologetic, as is presently the case for other members.
This must be extremely frustrating for those people so affected, and definitely makes them second-class members in this regard.
If the response to this thread could trigger such a savage outburst against UAS/JP(much of which was completely off topic) then it is obvious that he needs to somehow improve his PR, but it is equally obvious that there are quite a group of knife-wielders out there, just waiting for an opportunity to strike.
It's difficult to see how this can be rectified, and it is very damaging to the inherent friendliness that once permeated this forum. Many valued friendships have grown from this place, none moreso than ours.:zlove::zlove:

So if Jp posts under his current name of UNIQUE ZED even though its not associated at all with his business just his forum name based on the car he owns thats advertising for his business????

So if Zrated posts is he getting air time for PZP
Same goes for John Cresta although his username is his business name.
How bout Fleet and AMEC

Maybe the best thing for JP to do is to leave his UNIQUE ZED name for all his personal veiws etc and open another forum name as UAS or Unique Autosports etc and only then post in for sale by businesses I thinks thats a much clearer line

What does everyone think would that be acceptable. There would still be the veiws that when JP posts under his own name that his veiws would be biased to the products he sells and probably rightly so as he would only sell gear he knows works for our cars etc

Just a thought cause these last few posts have confused the hell out of me.

It's not an easy fix Jason...

ZR Forum is and should remain a discussion forum for purely ZR-related items of interest, especially TECH questions.
Perhaps we've been a bit slack in enforcement of Forum Guidelines regarding Sigs and if Members simply followed guidelines the issue(s) you raise may resolve?
