how much have you spent on zed since you own it?

All 6 zeds are TT's (model CZ32 - 2+0 seater). Configurations are:

a) 5 auto and 1 manual
b) 4 targa and 2 slicktop
c) 2xred, 2xgrey, 1xblack and 1xsilver

All are imports.

picked up car stock as a rock for 13500k.

Thrown about 40k at it. Check signature for link to mods. (includes one nice 12500 full rebuild under 3000km )

those 6 Zeds are all in near new condition - very nice !!!

why would you have 6 zeds?!!!!! Wouldn't you just have one maybe 2 and some other cars? Damn!!!!!!

including the purchase price and stuff I've spent around 20k, and my zeds in basically perfect condition top to bottom and makes 228rwkw. The only thing that wouldn't be classed as perfect is the engine, as it has (according the the odometer) 120,000 on it, but a compression test revealed perfect compression in every cylinder... I guess I'm lucky.

 

What would you buy? A new car?.

More than $25K in the last 3 years....Ive spent $3K just in the past 4 weeks alone

It's interesting to look at the purchase prices way back then. Some members were spending $40K to buy a good Z. Now you can buy an awesome Z for $15K. It's a little bit sad really.

 

And therein lies the problem Marcus. The current purchase price is way low but the costs of keeping them viable has
increased if anything, due to their advancing age and a dearth of mechanics who understand them.

So this massively necro'd thread is a good reminder to prospective buyers - just because you can buy a Z32 for 5K or even 15K doesn't mean
they will be cheap to maintain.

 

Since buying my red manual TT 2+0 300ZX for 10.9K (stock apart from wheels, suspension, exhaust and air-intake) a couple months ago I have spent

-4K on major service by UAS including new Radiator, timing belt, hoses, brakes etc (I didn't have to spend any of that but have had bad experiences with overheating with my previous NA Z so wanted to be on safe side).
-2K on exterior trim (incl door rubbers - trim was in shocking state but didn't notice when I bought).
-0.6K on new front bar.
-0.85K on new Z1 SMICs.
-Relocate detonation sensor kit (currently running in safey boost).

Things I will be doing/buying in next couple of months.
-Fit SMICs, paint and fit front bar and rust repair/paint targa removable roof bit (will try myself before getting pro to do).
-New fan and fan shroud (fan recently ate current shroud).
-PTU2 (PTU1 still OK but just want to be on safe side plus I think I do have a bit of hesitation at low rpm sometimes).
-Fix airconditioner solenoid.
-New windscreen (chip plus previous owner scratched with wipers).

Things I will buy toward end of year
-New interior trim.

Things I will buy next year.
-ECU/Boost controler (Nistune etc).
-Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric 2 tyres.

Things I will buy the year after that.
-New turbos.

Things I will buy a couple years after that
-New engine.

Things I will buy a couple years after that
-Complete respray.
