how much have you spent on zed since you own it?

You new comers bought them cheap, I haggled mine down from $46,000 to $43,000.

I have spent 12k+ on mine, will probably be another 2k added in the next month.

 

compared to today....

my zed cost me $22K back at the end of 2001 / start of 2002.

 

I think I've spent at least $15k on fuel in the time I've owned it.

I'm in the region of about $60k on top of purchase price. This includes buying a set of turbo's and cams which were then sold for bigger ones (before even using) buying numerous other parts and then buying bigger cause I went nuts and decided to go all out. Multiple workshops for bits to be done. And of course this doesnt even include tools like all the paint gear im buying etc.

I've got a running total somewhere which lists it all out with receipts in a file somewhere. Mainly so I can just give the entire list to the insurance company and not have to mess about.

 

I dont even wanna know ow much money I have burnt lol

yeah,... I love the porsche cayman

but I have learnt on the zed... before this car, I could only do oil changes, now I'm putting the engine together with my own hands, it's a huge education I've gone through - I have 2 culprits to thank, the zed and my mate minivan
if it wasn't for minivan, I'd have sold the zed a few years back because it would have been out of my league to keep it running (it was having severe overheating issues - 1 blown turbo will do that)
but I'm just about to knock off work now, head down to minivan engine factory and recondition my hydraulic lifters before putting them and the jwt R5 race cams in

 

i onyl spent about 500 $$ so far, BUT all the parts on layby and are ESSENTIALLY NEEDED TO GET HER RUNNING AGAIN is looking close to the 25k-30k mark... and i still have a black car... wtf, i am over black...
however i would happily spend the equivilent of 3 or 4 porches on my zed without even thinking about it

 

Doing a rough add-up, I've come up with $594.10 lmao...... Not bad so far. My last expense was for scoring those floor mats for $100 posted hehe.

I think the only things left to decide is whether to get the clear indicators or stick with the yellow/orange (original) ones, and a plenum pull. That was for two cases of smiroff black wasnt it chrispy lol

On my 89T I'd be down maybe $10,000 largely because I got that car 100% stock so that includes alot of basic shit like exhaust, wheels, maintenance, intercooler and such.

88T I havent spent a cent on besides a new alternator so $350.

My 86t, shit I'm not even going to start adding that up just yet! lol

As if jump the ship to a porsche or such, I think your forgetting the car came out at around 70k on road new so its pretty close to a porsche price not to mention yes its a nissan so you get more value for your dollar, being a porsche and such they add 40 - 50 grand on the price just for the name, and then its funny what u can do to a zed with the kind of money, think it would leave a porsche in the dust in the twisties and off the lights, then who would feel better? I know who , the zed driver ;p

 

I nearly bought a Prosche instead of the Zed actually. Just got the Z and 3 days later this immaculate 944 S2 came up for next to no money I really wanted a Porsche but couldn't find a decent one at this end of the country...

I'd swap the Z for a 928 GTS or a mint 944 Turbo, great cars and have the word PORSCHE in big red letters on the back

 

Hell yeah other cars i NEARLY brought instead of the Zed include

Porshe 944 Turbo (funny how the "good" ones are still just that little bit too expensive lol, yet there are MANY cheep shit ones)

meh, ****ing zed..... my "i think i should sell" and "there are better cars to be had" has grown strong over the last few days, when... ive not been inside the car much.

Drove her to work today and even with the lifter ticking..... its back to "meh.... i just can't part with it"
