    Guys need your help,

I found that there was green liquid on the car mats, possible the coolant ? my floor mats are drenched wet, and windscreen keeps fogging up, like steam coming out.

Think drifting caused this again fml

Ask my dad i think he thinks its the heater core ??

Whats the problem ? is it a big job ? and costly ?

    Thanks Heaps

the leak is coming from inside the car, near the clutch pedal and passenger side under glob box

    Yes it's the heater core.
    It's quite a long job.
Involves removal of the whole dash to replace.

    Option 1:
Heater core itself has corroded and is leaking.

    Option 2:
Heater core tap (the thing that switches off or on depending on if you want heated or cool air) is busted and will require replacing. Same amount of work, although not usually the problem unless the heater core has gone and been replaced previously.

Definitely heater core. Its how your heater works, it runs hot coolant through the core and draws heat from it.

If you use your heater/want to be able to use heater in future then you will need to replace the core which is a prick of a job.

I personally have bypassed my heater core as I live in north queensland where it rarely drops below 20 degrees, and when it does I enjoy it!

    Good luck,

    Adam

    It's either that

    Or Alien blood.
Common problem, heater core or tap, ( do a search, been discussed a thousand times before).
Bugger of a job to fix, or you can do a simple heater bypass.

if you need to drive the car before you can fix the heatercore/tap, get a Gates heater hose to suit the EA falcon (part number is 02-0027) and bypass the heater core at the pipes coming out of the back of the engine near the firewall. make sure you top up the coolant and bleed the system.

Your Dad is right, it's the Heater Core.
Is it expensive? Can be(a new core from NISSAN is expensive)but if you buy a new core for a 1994 Mitsubishi Mirage($200)you will save a large amount of dollars.
Is it a big job? Yes, but it can be done if you take your time and don't remove things that don't need to be removed.
See if someone in your area has already done one, and ask for some assistance.
Read the Tech Section of this forum, there is a lot of valuable info regarding this job.
    Where are you located?

If you don't need the heater, then do a heater bypass, by looping the pipe at the motor.
Where the coolantcomes out of the engine (at the rear) by a hard pipe and connects to the firewall via a rubber hose.
Where the coolant returns from the firewall and goes back into the engine via the other hard pipe.
connect the two hard pipes together will bypass the heater.
A mitsubishi heater core is the same size and cheaper if you are going to replace.
I am not sure what model suits. Ask member Chili as he knows the correct model.

If you top the coolant up with demineralised water before every time you drive it, it will be fine. Your feet will be very wet though.
If you drive make sure the heater is off, to minimise the amount of coolant you drop.

Do the Heater Bypass in the Tech Section, that will stop the water/Coolant from leaking inside the car and allow you to still drive until you can do a proper repair.

That is the "Gates" number which needs to be mentioned or some parts counters will be confused.

    Gates 02-0027
    Ford EA18472A
    Mackay CH1623

Here is the thread with all the different numbers to suit with prices from SuperCheap, maybe a little more expensive these days, they may have to order in but there are a few alternatives there that may be in stock.

Here is a picture of what needs to be done, the black U hose in the middle top. That will do the job until you get keen about sorting the core/tap situation.

Will it be fine if i just bypass it and leave it at that. I'll just have no heater

    YES!!
But you will not be able to regulate your AirCon Temperature to anything warmer than the outside temperature.
