There is nothing wrong with opinions in my opinion hahahahha.. Further more i am happy for you doing what you are doign to your ZED. I think its great, and i hope it makes you happy...

its unfortunate that people have pm'd you that bullshit and i feel like it is an act of jelousy. But it was your choice and this may have been a consequence. On the other hand other people should WAKE THE F#$% UP.. HEHE that felt good..

This is a public forum but whether you like it or not it is a little more intimate wouldn't you say.. There are common meetsa dn evenful activities that almost all members partake in. So really as public as it may be we all need to respect appreciate one another (to a certain degree)...

I didnt think this thread got dirty at all !! Everyone has an opinion. The only time when things get out of control is when people start to take others opinions personally.

Adults should be able to see opinions for what they are.

Basically (and this applies to everyone) they will do to their own car what ever they think is right for them.

How can anyone argue with that ?

didnt realise you were stroking your engine.. i only post in rebuttal to you when you say that anyone chasing x amount of HP MUST have forged pistons and MUST upgrade their rods.. it cheap insurance blah blah.. no, im not cracking the engine open.. and i wont till i blow something up.. because im trying to stop myself from spending ludicrous amounts of money.. yes i can afford it.. but i dont want to afford it

yes i have rebuilt motors before, yes i do all the work myself,
theirs only one way to find limits of things.. and it usually hurts and cost $$, which is why people upgrade first before finding that.. which is good.. if my engine was cracked open, truth be told there would be alot of headwork going on and new rods, forged pistons, crank/rods/pistons balanced as a rotating asssembly, wild cams, stronger valve springs etc.. but im not rebuilding the engine.. so sticking forgies in would cost mega bucks

i'm not here to make enemies, im here to learn from others experiences.. direct experiences at that

its sad people are pm'ing you telling you these things. theyre jealous.. i'm stokd your building such a big engine, mega bux ecu etc.. id love to see her in teh flesh one day when its done..

just dont tell me its the only way to do it..

zemulators in the post by the way..

yeah i love these type of debates, usually when method/zisluv are in involved i tend to learn something new after a few pages (nothing bad, actual real info).

Now dont laugh at me, but im wondering how detonation would bend a rod, wouldnt detonation so severe enough to have enough force to bend a forged rod just put a fuckin hole through the piston before it even bends the rod?
or bends the rod and kills the piston at the same time?
or would it require lots and lots of minor detonation at very high revs (redline) over time to stress the rod and then bend it, without any damage to the piston itself?

i was always under the impression the first thing to die from detonation would be your piston..

feel free to correct me as i love learning new shit.

well lots of things can die from detonation.. most rods ive seen that were bent or broken were actually from spun bearings on the crank,

detonation is like taking a hammer to the piston.. most likely thing to suffer from light detonation is your bottom end bearings, to knocking ring lands of pistons.. and worst case blowing a hole straight through a piston. but yes.. detonation can cause rods to bend, but i think the stock pistons will go first.. a high quailty forged piston can take detonation to some extent, which then transfers the shock through the rod, and rings the whole block like a bell (which is what the term 'pinging' comes from.. it sound like you have a cats bell jingling around in your rocker covers)

if for example your getting pinging because of too agressive timing maps.. your basically telling the piston to go down before its finished going up, because youve fired your plug too early, now thats alot of force, but its still an even flame front so the piston will generally take the force, but the rod is being forced down by the piston and up by the crank at this point.. this is where your most likely to bend a rod.. which is why i say bad tune

detonation caused by too much boost, too much heat, too lean etc, actually causes two flame fronts (one spontaneous, and one from the plug) and this is the sort of detonation that will blow a hole in a piston as it has huge intensity where the two flame fronts cross

Many times you hear of a rod going Travis (not in the case of a new engine usually) pinging has pounded the conrod bearings so badly they actually fall apart.

The minute the tri metal falls apart the codrod is under a lot of stress.

This then develops into a knock then a catasrophic failure with rod breakage and holes in Blocks etc.

Bent conrods have been put under a LOT of pressure. If the conrod bearings are relatively new. They will not give due to wear but it has to give somewhere.

Rod bending is not due to a flame out like piston but constant lightish pinging that isnt hot enough to stuff the piston but changes the composition of the metal in the conrod.

Forging usually makes a more brittle alloy. For it to bend, something has to have changed in the metal make up. Anyone care to comment about this?

couldnt comment on that one dude, i dont see how the temps could be enough to change the composition of the metal.

ive only ever seen heat damaged rods where theyve spun a bearing

    Keep the panties on :)

No ones having a go at anyone on this thread, we are basically just having a conversation. I think being the internet and the written word so many people just read things the wrong way or read into things what they think people are saying rather than what they are.

Method and I talk crap to each other all the time and Minivan is practically my next door neighbour so its all good.

Yeah I think if people knew the amount of shit we talked to each other outside the forum then they wouldnt freak out so much at what we say to each other here.

    What about the ol NA?

It'd be interesting to see how well an NA motor would respond to this stroker kit. The site mentions that it comes with high-comp pistons for the VG30DE, so i'm figuring this might be a good way to go as a final avenue for NA modification once everything else has been done.
