does that mean as an NA i can just order a 3 rib?

or safer to get a 4 rib and new belts?

 

UR does not make a 4 rib crank or PS pulley.

If you are not upgrading to a UR 4 rib PS pulley, you simply use your current NA pulley and the 3 rib belt and line it up correctly on the 4 rib UR crank pulley.

Make sense?

 

u don't need to get anything extra if not changing the power steering pulley. but i recall you wanted to change to all UR pulleys so you may need a 4 rib belt if that's the case.

I would also been test fitting the pulley before they are sent out in case they were manufactured incorrectly (its UR, this is very unlikely).

So I'm saying ~8 weeks to be on the safe side and so I don't get a barrage of "where the $#(#$ are they" PM's if UR / shipping takes longer than expected.

hey Steve you can put me down for all the accessory pulleys aswell.

we'll run a mini GB on them

 

im worried about harmonic viabrations and how they will affect my motor.. its the only thing that makes me not want to get these things..

do you think it would have less chance of damage since its the stock size compared to the smaller ones?

 

Will this destroy my motor?

Some people believe a harmonic damper is required on the 300zx, some people don't. I know of no instances in which an underdrive pulley has been attributed to an engine failure or damage.

I've looked for people who have had engine damage as a result of using an underdrive pulley, and I just can't find any instances of it occuring.

The UR pulleys are balanced before they are sent out, and timing marks are accurate to 1 minute of a degree. (60 minutes to a degree)

Also, if you have done any vibrations analysis, resonant frequences increase with lighter objects.

The stock pulley weighs in around 5.8kg, but has a torsional damper, and the resonance frequency of the pulley would be above that of redline. If you cut the weight of that by 6 (which is what the UR pulley will weigh), the resonant frequencies of the pulley will increase, and seeing as they were above redline already, I can't see it being an issue.

Disclaimer: I only got a distinction for that unit... so don't take it as gospel, but in my honest opinion, you have nothing to worry about.
