Finally finished the oil cooler setup ,sorry for terrible pics .

Had a problem with the Greddy sandwich plate .
Had to to dremel about .5mm off for clearance as the oil filter it was too tight to screw on rubbing against it .

    .
fitted all up with some 10an 90 fittings ,plenty of clearance everywhere .
closest the steering knuckle gets to the plate is a finger space

    .

Fed first to the drivers side then through the webbing area of the chassis with hose grommet to the other side in front of the radiator

    .

identical setup on the passenger side

ready to rock and roll .bring on the boost and heat :br:

VERY FUNCTIONAL SETUP - did some testing today :):br:

1.direct airflow through nose panel and airtray to top half of radiator
    2. ducted air to intercooler runs through bottom half of radiator
3.ducted twin oil coolers in series
4.fog light ducts directlty to intakes .
5.vented bonnet to eliminate heat from bay .

  3. Anti

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

Love it. So you have two engine oil coolers? Would have thought that overkill.

My oil capacity is now 8 LITRES ;)

engine has 1100km and now runs Penrite Racing 15w/50

You can feel the drivers side significantly hotter than the passenger side .. so they are working well in series .

    Results :

Previously at only a few WOT bursts .
water would go from 82 to 86-87
    oil from 88 to 100.

these would continue to slowly climb under WOT but recover fairly quickly..

    NOW .
After some serious WOT (continuous 2nd 3rd 4th brakes etc went through a quarter of a tank :p)
    water 80 -82 wont move.
oil sits at 82 hits 90 (struggles to go over)

    What I was expecting .

I will be able to kill this all day at the track .
I predict water hitting a max of 90 and oil a max 100

    Almost there :br:

    yes

not overkill with constant 400+rwkw on the track .

never run hot ,never back off ,more fun time :p

So the pods get air after it passes through the oil coolers?

  7. BLACK BEAST

    BLACK BEAST SLICKTOP TT R-SPEC

    No
the intake filters are directly behind the fog light ducts .
(The pods sit over the oil cooler ducts)

They are the powertrix ones ..
also have the TWIN Z ones with bigger openings to replace those ones

Ah yep, there it is, number 4, completely missed it.

When you chose that bonnet, was it pitted against other bonnets with different ducting locations and designs? Why did you choose it in the end?

When do you think you'll be taking this for a run at WP?

  10. Anti

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

There are the TwinZ ones with bigger openings than the first gen Powertrix units (not sure which JDM brand originally designed them), then the new Powertrix units with bigger openings again... just pretty much a frame for the OEM cut out. Seems like they're marketing themselves out of the business by saying a bigger duct is better. If that's the case why have anything there at all?

most z32 bonnets have the ducting in the same place just behind the fan shrowd .

so its a matter of picking which one you like

I also opened up the ducts on the bonnet a little bigger .

    seen them

I wouldn't go bigger than the Twin Z

you still need the hole to look pretty :p

    Wakefield?

I'm more inclined to take it to eastern creek which is 20 mins away from me .

just want to finish my splitter and a final tune so all that is left is a paint job .

will be on the track end of this month early next month .

Coming together really well mate. Since you live so close to the Creek you should come do a Driving Sports skinpan night with me sometime....

    For sure

    how often do you go?
And what events are at the skidpan?

not often enough, I have to tow the zed for at least 2hrs to get there. Driving Sports are a drift club. I'm a member of Initial Drift and both of these clubs now combine their events into one. You can go on either the wet skidpan or the dry peanut track and skipan is good cause you don't wear anything out or stress the engine. There is only 4 people on the track at any one time for 5 minute sessions but you run the risk of people loosing it and running into you. If you don't want to be a drift club member then you just pay extra on the day, i'm guessing you have a CAMS licence already?

Yep agree, but availability of track days and the amount of traffic with a new car makes WP a necessity.

Keen to know when you do, might drop by for a look if I can.

Just one more thing to note and is good to know .

with all the long lines and 2 oil coolers ,it hasn't affected oil pressure in the slightest from start up to running temperature ,under acceleration etc .

Good to know, did you use speedflow or something else?

Also, where are you taking oil temp from? Mine is in the port on the filter tree (i.e. directly after the cooler/filter) and doesn't get to 80deg in this weather unless I'm on the track. I'm running a 38 row cooler with Mocal thermostat sandwich plate
