yeah i did good. Rocked up close to 1pm after a huge sleep in (thanks heaps Al for not waking me up when you left) to do some awesome onion cutting & beer pouring for the grilling of lunch. Ash you know how to cook a good sausage But really a huge thank you to everyone who was able to make it. I know both Al and Aza are really thankful for the help that everyone is putting in to get the car up and running again...
an excellent work day, well directed by Big Al and one which only required a minimum of top shelf "incompetent supervision" .... Mia, i can only say that you looked as 'destroyed' as i have ever seen you ... !!! don't know whether that is a plus or a minus ... lol ..... and a very special mention of Steve, aka "2 thumbs up" .. is this lad a goer ... did not stop from the minute he arrived until when we pulled stumps around 5.00pm ... top stuff ... and i should mention that he is a 19 Y.O., "P" plater, without a trace of acne (see related thread .. eekkkkk )... truly the future of this Forum ... great work, Steve .... and overall, a most successful day, despite the efforts of K-zed to distract us with a series of dubious pics of his recent sojourn in LOS .... lol...
Hey guys Awesome to see you guys helping aza out so much! I've been doing 12-16 hr days myself! Being on annual leave from my main job, helping out a pump company with the pumps and motors that have been damaged in the flooded areas. Unfortunatley this means I havent been able to help out AZA's beast as yet. Doing this work I noted that all bearings that were submerged (inside motors) and even on pumps, needed replacing. Yes they have seals on them but they aren't designed to be under a few metres of water! Are AZA's wheel bearings being replaced, along with his centre bearing (if he's not running a one-piece), along with the others on the car? Just trying to help, haven't read the whole thread Cheers R33kyboy.
I've got a few spare parts here, some lights, s1 ptu (works), steering column, na radiator. And a few interior trims. If there's anything specific I might have I here.
Hey mate, bearing caps etc were pulled and checked - they were totally dry! steering rack was wiped down and re-smeared with some grease as was all the suspension and brakes. Fuel tank is full of water and yet to be drained - and engine - well that depends on what Eric finds.
Taillights and headlights required, also a PSCU (power steer control unit). There will be other parts required as the re-build progresses although at this stage many electronic/electrical components are still functional.
Hi team, My girlfriend and I are heading to QLD on the weekend of the 11/12/13 feb as the final leg of our motorhome extravaganza road-trip. Anything going down on those dates? I'd be in for donating some elbow grease and some laughs with either Z or house repairs. Call me on 0413498142 or PM with any details
Rob, I'm fairly sure I have a pair of stock tail lights if you can't find a set closer to AZA. If you need 'em shoot me a PM with details of who / where to send em!
Got some good news on the engine. We have pulled the sump, main bearings and heads off. Bottom end is looking good, just needs a good flush with the preluber to get the milky oil out, otherwise spot on. No rust anywhere down the bottom. Bores look good. Valves have some rust on the seats. We have pulled these apart and will be relapping the valves to sort that out. When I drained the oil that Al filled it with to stop the rust forming, I got another 3 ltrs of water and a fair amount of sediment out of it as well. I will flush the engine with deisel by pressurizing it thru the main gallery, then flush with oil.
Bloody awesome news Eric, and Al! Great work guys! Got the best people for the job that's for sure, glad to see Aza's Zed is in the best hands around! :zlove:
Good news on the engine eric. I have no idea where the other 3 ltrs of water was hiding. Update on my end is that the fuel tank has been drained and flushed. Bodywork wise the wiring has been completely removed from the engine bay and visible rust nutralised. Its ready to rub back and get the engine bay painted. I've also started on the bog work on the hatch and rear guards. There were some serious dents there that have been filled as have the stock spoiler mounts. She will have one smooth brazillian when Im finished.
There is nothing like the look of a freshly shaved pus........... Sorry I meant a freshly painted engine bay. Mucking around with my old mags And one smoothed out brazillian
Looking good Al. Did you do any real work this week? Income producing that is or is Mia paying the bills while you play.
That was just todays effort Rob. I made my money this week, although I reckon I should have earned extra been out in the heat the past few days,
I called past around 11 today to offer a hand ... you weren't there! Let me know when you need help next.
Thanks for the photo update guys. Great work. looking forward to seeing more. Azas lucky to have you guys working his car
