to be honest, ill prob go cold turky on the hole car scene for a year or 2. Spend some time and money on house and family, and THEN revisit.

I love Zeds and have sampled some mint ones.

I know 1 car in particular "may" be ready for sale in about 5 years. I would happily even get a loan for that 1 car, even in its current state.

So i may just wait for that.

I want to drivre across Oz in 2010 (more on that next year) and had picutred doing that in an NA supra... not sure yet.

    So many cars.

My Zed love goes on, but not for this one. It was never there to begin with, and the sooner i realise that and get out, the better for all involved.

    Not a light decission.

Im definately in for the "lifelong" haul. I know some people, including my gf have strong priorities to buy a house and start a family asap but i dunno id rather finish my zed and then focus on a house/family. I dont want much in life with possesions (gf and zed) and i know i may have to struggle financially with buying a house or family in the future but meh so does everyone else and they all manage dont they. I dont drink alcohol or smoke or do drugs. I dont want a motorbike or a boat or a big screen LCD tv i just want the simple things in life like a loving gf/wife and family and a one of a kind zed admired by all other Zed owners:).

That's the difference between someone who truely appreciates Z's and someone who doesnt. The whole idea is to bring them back to their former glory, the more screwed up it is then the more rewarding it will be once the car is finally completed. Who the hell wants to own a car where someone has already done everything for you? Build it, dont buy it. It takes no skill to buy an already restored and modified car and then take all the credit for it! lol

I have done a few rescue missions myself already, and if I hadnt god knows what condition the cars would be in now. Not sitting in my garage with nearly 400 horses, 5k worth of paint and wheels worth about the same aswell that's for sure.

lol See, I think this poll should be "How many Z32 owners are secretly closet wannabe Supra owners!" haha I submit at least half...

*Puts hand up* I couldn't afford one when I was looking around :( Don't really want one now as it would likely just be a Z of a different shape with a dodgier climate control system :p

I wouldn't mind a Z32 convertable to do up though

To the day I die ... Jennifer (the Zed) has been through it all

I will keep Jennifer (the Zed) until the day I die ... I have only thought of selling her once to buy a Tommy-K zed.

Since I have had my zed I have been through; a wife, a lover, a few girlfriends, companions ... hmmm maybe women don't like coming second too a car... a house deposit, a few jobs, three engines, two paint jobs, an entire interior, multiple body panels, multiple tail lights, multiple stereos, and money that could probably have been spent better else where ... AND WAS IT WORTH IT ... shit ya.

I may never be able to afford an Aston Martin, but I can build something close

    Long haul...

Had mine for too long now and put too much time and effort into it to just sell and let someone else enjoy the fruits of my labour. Besides, I don't think I could do it again with any other car because I'm a little past it now. I'll keep thinking of new ways to improve her and just keep her for as long as I can.

I think because she's not my daily driver it's not so easy to get sick of her. I actually look forward to driving her rather than it being a chore to get from A to B.

Then again nothing lasts forever and there will probably come a time where she will be gone...either that or I'll just bury her underground where in the next 100 years someone will dig her up and put her in a museum. :)

I think you'll find even if the zed was your daily you won't get sick of it. Mine is, I enjoy the trip to and from uni/work more than the destination. In fact, I hate the destinations, particularly work...

Agreed! I've been daily driving Z's for 5 years now, love every minute of it. It's either in your blood, or it's just a car. Rarely will you find a REAL Z car guy with just one Z, the majority of them have several.

I find that woolen jumpers make my neck itch. You know I'm right, that's why you really cant be arsed getting into it! ;) Enjoy your Supra!

    Benny_C About as subtle as...

    Good answer there 300zxt

    Agree 100%
wayward seams to be talking feces again. Seams he is just the one who has made some stupid decisions and feels the need to take it out on these cars instead of himself and/or previous owners who treated his Zed like shit. :bash:

Just about everyone in life has passions/hobbies and it would be ignorant not to expect people on this forum use their Zeds as this passion/hobby. I do, and most other people here do too. For God's sake, this is a car enthusiasts club afterall. Most people on here kinda like these cars ;)

dude the supra is to "do a job" across Oz in style. Thats all. Reliable engine and easy to work in the engine bay should a hose pop in the middle of no where.

Ive LOVE to do the trip in a Z32 but can't figure out where to put the emergancy engine hoist

and the reason why your post insutled me the other day is because i TRULEY love the Z32, and the 240/260 damn it lol

I want to be in another one one day when the time is right.

The car I have at the moment is NOT the right Z32 for me.

I hear you on the "restore" bit, but im no mech.

I paid good money in the hope that it would reduce the gamble and bag me a GOOD example of a Z32 which i could THEN maintain and make my own

that is not what happened and that is why this one has to go.

If i'd got her for 10-12K then fair enough, but I paid $15K believing i was buying the right car

And from the day I picked her up from the trans depot I have not been happy with her. I have done my best to kid myself and others into thinking it'll be ok.... but it wont

This car leaves a bitter taste in my mouth and the sooner i move on the better.

believe me.... I had chest pains when buying interstate. True story. Very stressful time and the end result has not been worth it at all.

I know how good a Z32 "should" be. 1st Zed i ever test drove was a stocky in excellent condition. Blew me away. So smooth. Such a nice ride. And so, so fast.

All i want is a clean example to "start" with. I dont want to take credit for someone elses work as you sujested before. I just want a clean foundation.

I am sure the next owner of my car wont be half as fussy. Im sure some P plater who thnks "meh... its 20 years old... thats what you get" will be over the moon.

but for me, thats not what its about.

Hope you understand my year long bitter rants better now.

Believe me, I LOVE the Zed. We'll see what the future brings. For me, there's no rush, and THAT is where i went wrong last time ;)

You win some and you lose some I guess. I flew to Sydney for my 89t and drove it back to Tassie where I was living at the time, that includes a trip on a boat inbetween of course. It was super risky with 250,000kms+ on the clock, a price too cheap for a black manual turbo made me extremely suspect. I wanted it so bad I just didn't care so I packed up my shit and flew there to get it without thinking twice. The guy met me at the airport, I checked the car out (in the dark), paid the guy cash and drove it back in 10 hours to Melbourne the next morning.

I got 2 1/2 years of balls out driving from that car before the passenger side bank headgasket finally went just recently. Even now I have it stripped back, all it needs is a new gasket and put it all back together and rock on! :) It had some rear 1/4 panel rust, the suspension was shot, the paint was shocking, the drivers door totally busted, break in attempt had screwed all the locks, the front bumper was broken and so on. The car is now sitting in my garage in mint condition with perfect paint, all new suspension, wheels, lots of go fast bits now I'm just waiting for my multilayer stainless steel headgasket kit to arrive and then back on the road she goes. It's literally like a new car now all thanks to me, I wouldn't go back in time and buy it without those problems even if you paid me.

I understand where you're coming from, you want a classic Z that's been a garage queen all its life. Trust me I get it, but even if you find one like that it's going to be too perfect that you yourself will never enjoy it. The Z is meant to be driven, and driven hard.

You have never really loved a car until you rebuilt the thing from scratch.
