ok so a little photo bomb time, so as it stands the manifold are 95 % finished just need to weld the EGTs on and the gate pipes and it all done they are all welled up and fit (turbos are not clocked in photos just on) these are the bigger 43mm ID and 48mm OD. He is starting on the dumps now then gate and the 4inch cutouts, then all that part of it should be done. we will configure the ash massive side mounts to work with this set up for now till me work out what we are going to need in terms of the final intercooler set up, im still pushing side mounts at this point i recon i can make really huge ones to get what we need out of them (water to air is not something im keen on atm) next would be the 4inch intakes as well and intercooler piping, then i need to bring her home and pull the engine out and do all the oil lines water lines return line etc etc then that should be it we should be ready to start her up again. she is coming together slowly slowly , this guy has only had the car for i think 4 weeks now look how far he has come, all will be revealed about him latter. we also will not be using trent for chequered tuning as the car will be making a little bit more power then his dyno can take, i do have the syvecs king here in Melbourn as he is there distributer and know the syvecs 100% i also have access to him 24 7 and i need that support when out racing, on a side note roll racing at Calder park there is no leader board so mph and times are not a thing so i can roll race all the time and can not get kicked out, we are going to set up for this as well im supper excited for this. i hope you guys enjoy these photos , thats it for now cheers
few extra photos, it's getting there slowly, it's a massive job, we think it should be finished soon few weeks away id say, when i get her home then the fun starts, i will post photos of the intercooler piping when he starts i am using the ash missives coolers till i sort it out, but i will be using side mounts, this will be a decision for a later date, not something i want to think about atm, 80% will not be front mount, i need to pull the engine out and do all the water and oil line and other small things, then i will stop and enjoy it. i still need to dry sump it and sort out the cooler side of things but this can wait, no rush at this point of the build, all the hard crazy work is done, the rest is not too bad in terms of available products to buy, but it will take time, it's come a LONG LONG way and im over the moon to say the least. the engine still needs to go down and back but this will all take place when setting up the dry sump once that is done then the big task of balancing the car up as best we can, over all it is much much lighter now so this is something i must do. lot more work to do hope you guys enjoy this project, cheers alex
so we are not to far away now all of the titanium and SS is all 100% finished the only thing thats left now is the intercooler piping to finalize this part of the build, this may take just a little more time then expected but all is going well, i say maybe few weeks away from finished. ( he does now have an important job he must do for a customer and thats fine ) i will need to bring the car home then start on the oil line water lines and air lines, then all back together she goes, and that will be it for a while ill get her up and running and enjoy it for a bit, 4 inch bumps and 4 inch cut out the rest is 3 inch titanium, thats a total of 7 inch outlet for the big power/boost day , the dump valves will be controlled by me not the ecu. my other huge problem is that all the fabrication work look damm good, but i really need to heat wrap these pipes up and take away the amazing work, the manifolds and cooler piping will all get heat wrapped its not really something i want to do because they look so so so damm GOOD but i just have to , for the time being , i will be using the DEI wrap stuff , up until i figure out what i want to do and how to best approach this. After all said and done, ill will need to dry sump this and then set up the balance of the car, as its a little of now then paint and that will be the very end for this car. im not chasing anything specific as this question comes up a bit, this is just a good allrounder weekend worrier.
pipe work is art, puts in prospective how small the holinger is. I know you said side mounts but have a look how this r35 plazmaman core fits a z32 https://plazmaman.com/product/gt-r-r35-pro-series-intercooler-only/ 3rd pic along
yeah i seen it man , looks amazing , but i want side mount 100% we are making the cooler pipes now , and look will look amazing, once all finished , the ash massive will not work at full noise, but when the time comes we are going to utilize the sides and put the biggest PWR/PLAZMANMAN? side mount we can literally fit in the spot, in c,i they will be bigger then a plazmaman GTR core the only one huge problem will be that i refuse to cut up my front bar for more air flow for the side mounts , this will be what it will be and happy to live with it , im on e85 the ash will do ok for now, if not i do have 2 other options up my sleeve the ash massive have been opened up to 2.75 inch , we will look for restrictions first
This is one side of the cooler pipes, its tight, but it is what it is. I'm running 4-inch intakes and 2.75 cooler piping. The BOV is not on yet, it will be mounted. Next week will be the other side, and we are done. I will be wrapping the hot and cold side to keep the temps in check. The dry sump system is next on the list in terms of further progressing the engine to utilize the remainder power. We will only take this to about 1400-1500 wheel hp, the stock oiling system is 10/10 amazing, but will only be safe to 1600 wheel hp (proven and test many, many times). I'll be happy to stop at 1400 odd wheel hp. By this, I believe my turbos will be at the end of their puff; (garret G35 900) but there are 2 or 3 more things we can do to the turbo to make more power if we need to. I guess the next step will be, once the engine is in the right spot/location; and the power is all the way up and everything is working as it should, the suspension will always be something that will need looking at. All though a LOT has already been done, there will always be more to do to keep the power to the ground. After all is said and done, a parachute and a cage would be something I need to look into, but it will always remain a street car. I will stop just before the point where it starts stepping into full race car, anyway i hope you enjoy the photos
AND WE ARE HOME so here it is all done and dusted i cant be happier with the work has come up really good ( photo bomb) now that she is home, i will need to pull it all apart again to hook up the water oil and air hoses the engine will have to come out for that , but its all good time for me to get into gear and get this done
just a small update this is what im up to now , the gates are set they will run a minimum boost of 24 pounds gate pressure, can go to 26, i have painted everything VHT hi temp and wrapped the manifolds in DEI wrap this is temporary just seeing how i go and with no delay as i want the car on the road and not wait another 2 or 3 months they are busy as, i will be wrapping the dumps and cut outs as well including the cold side will get wrapped as well , , all of this will be re done but as i said later in time. also reverting back to electric power steering withe the astra pump today im setting up the oil and turbo lines for the turbos then the engine can go back in the car
@badxtc Have you considered something like for the heat shielding instead of wrapping it potentially? https://zircotec.com/motorsport/resources/news/why-heat-shield-lag-your-exhaust-system/
yes sir i have 100% and i will be doing this, but not now i want to get it all up and ruing first, drive it around and race it as much as i can as i need to set up the car, then ill give this to a mate of mine and he will do it for me , what ive done is just temporary.
SHE IS ALIVE first start up was good running rich really bad so im not going to start her till the tune so now to put the ID 2600cc injectors in and the 4bar map sensor then tune time , i an over the moon. a massive bonus is its not that loud , we were talking about making a center muffler but there is no need atm she sound good
well im all done, just need to pull the ID1700cc injectors out and put in the ID2600cc injectors and then wait for the tune , i started the car up yesterday and was not to loud at all, i do not want the car loud, lucky its not to bad i will see once its all done if it is a little to loud i will get a muffler made up and put it in, it does not sound louder then before tbh , so this is good , almost there not long now , still a coupe of small things i need to do , like get the 4x 525 walbros in there , ill run the 3x 460 for now we are going to stage the pumps soon as well, im not 100% sure atm but we should be able to run 1400whp on the current set up , but we will see soon enough i guess
just a small vid of it running, she is ready to drive now, ill make a better vid of it soon, in the vid the cut outs are open, this is a verry soft tune just to get it running. you cant really hear it in the vid but it is the soft tune not the angry one yet https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=904247231385227
just a small vid of it going, hope you guys enjoy, still a lot to do, not tune yet just miner adjustment in this tune to get me running. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=466440009316856
Mate, this thing is totally epic. Pipework on the manifolds, exhaust and intercooler is top notch. So nice to see this sort of passion being put into these cars, they deserve it. What's the timeframe for tuning? I have been waiting for a couple of years for these numbers hahaha
yeah man it come up good, there is still a little more to do, like i need to make block of plates for the cutouts, also yeah still needs tuning, the map that's in there was to just get me going and its fine for now light throttle is the main thing id like to sort out but no point till it sees the dyno and the shift cut im going to change the fuel pumps as well as they were sitting in e85 for 2 year and they are slowly dying, fuel pressure is dropping off so they need to go, this tuner will not touch or look at hi power till ALL the safety things are sorted, this is a good thing, sooooo having said all that it should see the dyno for a tune in the next 1 or 2 months , still putting the engine through some heat cycles the run in ius done ( i say he will not tough hi power but there is a 996rwkw tune in there now that came from a gtr with the 95% same mods as mine i think that about 1400 whp ) this is a temp tune with touch ups to work for me for now this is not my final tune ) when i say safety i mean things like drop in fuel pressure oil pressure boost pressure water etc etc etc when all these are good to go only then will we turn it up and tune it till then this is good maybe clean up with remote tuning but thats it for now side note, i did drive car and put 4 to 6 psi of boost into it and i can 100% tell you this is a fast car, our aim/plan is to run 40 to 45 psi on these turbos. LIKE EVERYTHING IT IS ALL A GUESS TILL WE ACTUALLY GET IT ON THE DYNO
