He wasnt asking for judgement on the practicality or what they look like Simon, merely informing us that they fitted. As many have stated no doubt many of us (including you and me) have things fitted to our cars that surpass practicality or what they were fitted with.

Stop being a agro everytime somebody says something and let this forum go back to the helpful place it was a few years ago,

are you comparing your wheels with my cheese wheels or my new wheels, i find it very hard for your wheels to beat my wheels in drag or track events....autosalon ye id agree coz its rice taken to the next level (the wheels that is, everything thing else is fkn horn):rolleyes::rolleyes:

every1 is entitled to their own opinion and i personally think it looks really shit. you may like your wheels but i really hate them. to me they dont suit the z at all. but then again thats my own opinion... those wheels look like they should be sitting on a suv or something.

hey on a diff note does this remind you of something? cant handle a taste of your own medicene when you where bagging out someones zed saying its just a stock zed and it looks like ass????

p.s dude i dont live in sydney with you so im not like one of your best fully sick habib friends there....you guys are pathetic. dont even try and compare me with you....

I help alot of people on this forum,if they dont want to hear my opinions fair enough dont read it,if they dont want to listen to sensible advise, they are beyond help

I understand the legality side mate but, same could be said for many things that are done to our cars, being agro to new comers to the forum helps no one.

You are right - 20" wheels will add to a rougher ride
    - Are questionable legally unless engineered
    - Will cause average handling till the suspension is adjusted to suit.
    - Will rub if not the right offset and this is dam dangerous - I
have seen what happens if a tyre pops due to this at speed.
    Ouch.
    - Tyre size is important also.

But in some cases such as Ali's they can look good and function well on a Zed if they are set up and engineered correctly. Ali for example has gone out of his way to do this sorting out his suspension height and adjustments, rim and tyre choice.

Please guys let our newer members know this without smashing them with an opinion! I already know one lady friend who has lost her enthusiasm with this forum because of this, just because she asked a bit of a newbie car question and she has a gorgeous Zed.

    1. Even 18's are illegal
    2. Same with any tyre, 20's fit no problem.
    3. Again same with any tyre.

If people want to run 20's its no drama. If people dont like it please dont force us to hate our rims, it will never work.

  11. Benny_C

    Benny_C About as subtle as...

18's are NOT illegal. In Qld the rules are you can't have more than 20% overall rolling diameter tyre. Doesn't matter what rim you put in there, as long as it's low enough profile that it doesn't go larger than 20% larger than stock.
So 18" rims are legal if you have something like a 35 or 40 profile (depending on width of course).

So you can work out the 19's or 20's from there.

Thanks Benny. At last somebody who understands the rules and does not listen to the mumblings of misinformed souls that heard somewhere that you cannot go more than one size up on the tyre placard.

    NSW rule:

    Overall Diameter
The overall diameter of the wheel and tyre combination must be no more than
15mm larger than the largest diameter wheel and tyre combination specified for the vehicle and not more than 15mm smaller than the smallest diameter wheel and tyre combination specified for the vehicle.

Where do you run out of room for even the thinnest tyre ?

    Yeah

Thats why I dont run any bigger than 18's, 20's would just get owned on pot holes (not to mention instant defect for cops who wanna be a holes to you)

    Not right Benny...

+15mm -26mm in total rolling diamter.

You can go 30% wider though.

My brothers cousin runs 23 1/2 inch rims on his quad turbo 4WD 300ZX. The only times he has any problems are when he tries to move the car, otherwise they're fine.

does adding the bigger rims change the speedo reading at all?

depends if you change the rolling diameter. The 'profile' of a tire relates to the thickness between where it touches the outside of the rim to the tread. So a 40 profile on a 17inch rim is very close to stock rolling diameter of 50 on a 16. And then as others have said you can go bigger rolling diameter, but speedo will be out.

so if u go bigger if makes the speedo faster then it should be or slower ??

it means it says you'll be doing 50 k's ah hour say and you'll be doing more, as the gearing in the gearbox is the same to the sensor, but you're rolling further
