and they think its worse for handling? Try telling that to nissan engineers who slap them on the r35 GTR? I find it fairly hard to break traction on 270rwkw+ power and Yokahama AVS Sports 20" tyres
You *can* wrap 295's on a 9.5" rim. But it's not ideal, 285 max and 275 recommended. Saying that I have 285's on mine at the moment.
Ali, You can't compare 20" wheels from the factory on one car vs 20" wheels on a car that came factory with 16". Suspension geometry is all designed around 20" in the R35, It's a heavier car and has suspension geometry designed to for the greater inertia of a 20" rim. Yes 20's have more weight towards to outside edge of the wheel/tyre combo so the forces present on the suspension is different. And also, 95%, if not higher, of all aftermarket 20" rims are super heavy...you will find it difficult to buy lightweight 20's, and if you do find them they are limited and costly. If you like the look of 20's and they are not an upgrade for a better handling car then by all means, I would never criticize. But at the end of the day, they are not a performance modification for the Z32.
ive seen a zed with 295's on the back (i think they were or 285's), he is a guy from the forums but he had barely any clearance like i could barely get my small finger between the gaurd and tyre, but then again he did lower the zed too, i reakon it looks good but for practicality no unless going in a straight line Ryan
This is 295/30/18 on the back of the zed on a 9.5" rim. Did plenty of track time with these and once warm gave good grip on the corners. So the comment about no good unless in a strait line is a little blind. If he had clearance issue's it's due to his wheel and offset choices.
i thought 295 on 18s would have more clearance than 295/20's but one thing did you get rid of the hicas coz if you didnt wouldnt the tyre be rubbing against the wheel arch when turning tight corners??? Ryan
I know the R35 was built to handle the 20" wheels but so can a Zeds suspension using aftermarket parts and adjusting and tunning the suspension to cater for an extra 2"
respect something that looks like dog balls? 20's on a zed is as bad as the viielside kit :bash: maybe thats because they are so fkn heavy. put some smaller wheels on and watch your arse slide everywhere.... p.s i hope you realised going to the 1/4 track on 20's was useless... what works on the rd will not obviously work on the track...
Serious question... I run 18's and find potholes to be a problem... wouldn't this be even worse with 20's? As in even lower profile and less rim protection.
... This is your opinion, so I guess every other opinion is wrong? Useless? I don't think useless is the word you are after, perhaps not practical would be better suited. Useless would be for fitting square rims . Not everybody has sets of rims sitting around that they can throw on for track events. What's a waste of time, is all this b!tching
doesnt really matter whether they are 20's or not, but yes the lower the profile the higher the risk is with pot holes. nah just voicing my opinion in reply to his opinion im sure someone wonderful from this forum would have been able to help him there...
Different kettle of fish there buddy Of course you can't break traction, they're bigger in diameter and heavier which kills torque and increases stress on the entire drivetrain! :bash: Even if you did modify suspension components and lower the diff ratio, you'd be slightly more prone too blowing the almost indestructable diff. They are very porn rims though In conclusion, those who didn't know, now know that 20's fit, they're are of particular taste, you will continue to pay for them for as long as you drive on them, and not for the boy racer. Good night everybody
Listen here you little flafel ball. How about you put your money where you mouth is? My Z with 20's would shit all over yours in any venue. From drag nights and track events to autosalon and even on the road. And thats not just my opinion...im not trying to be a prick but i hate when little try hard habibs talk out of their arses. Running 20's on the dyno the Z produced just over 270rwkw @ 13.5 psi with something like 550nm torque. I find it hard to break traction because good and bigger rubber plus bigger diameter which increases contact with the road. 20's on Zed if done right with adjustable suspension etc can look and perform very well.
thats what im saying, respect each others taste. if you can afford them and run them on a zed and good for you. but dont be little hairy canary like "chad" and insult peoples taste. thanks
