Ill be hanging on to mine since i have spent hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars on it, and its probly only worth 10k, some kid comes along and buys it, shags it then wraps it round a tree and then its for sale as a wreck for 1200 bucks. No thanks
I voted fleeting fancy... kind of stumbled into a Zed and as much as I enjoyed the experience, I'm not willing to commit at such a young age
Funny you should say that I was thinking only today, with the hassle im having getting the TT up to spec, I could have just got an NA lol. Mine has the same performance at the mo haha. I wouldn't have missed anything at all not for long though :zlove:
thats right.. you boys give us NA shit but we are on the road more then you are!! (my zed excluded lol)
it is food for thought to be honest. Esp that most of the time "cruising" is the order of the day, vs boost ridden hooning but....... if i were to buy an NA, Id buy a Supra
Spent tens of thousands, driven it for 4 months out of 3 years and this is while owning two of them (one is now for sale i bought it for the engine it had) I have given it one final shot. New haltech, reputable workshop and to a degree open cheque book - if it eats shit again the bitch is out the door. :bash:
Thats a long time to be off the road. At least you sill have the money to get the thing finished. It would suck to have a nice car to be off the road for the sake of a few(or lots) bucks.
when one reads the forum over the past month ... ... especially NZR, yep, it does look like time to sell ..... .. the alternative is one MOFO flame war to put things back on track ... !!!!! .. :sorry::sorry::worthless::worthless:
ive spent alot on my car.. but its been on the road for alot longer then most for the work its done.. really don't know why people take their cars to a workshop with a tech section like this.. really can't..
Low priced Zed's The low price of zeds isnt helped much by guys on this forum telling someone who has just listed their car for sale, that its "too expensive mate"! . . . "you wont get that for it". Perhaps instead of "talking the prices down", we should all agree to "Talk the prices UP"!!!! Any stranger looking at this group wanting to buy a zed, gets the impression that these cars are cheap "From Us"!!!! If everyone selling a zed agreed to keep the price up, rather than giving the car away for a "commodore" price then it might help our "cause". This was a $100 grand car when new! and even second hand should respectfully gain a good price for a good condition car. You dont see a second hand Ferrari going for $10 grand, why, cause the guys selling them wont let them out of their sight for any thing less than say $80 G's or more. What price should a crappy run down zed fetch? and what price should a mint condition car be worth. If we aren't willing to part with the good cars for a decent price, then whoever wants to buy one will either have to buy a crap run down version, or pay our price! Give it a try! Stu
i will keep her i am one of the older members on the forum, and i will keep her as long as i can drive. still the best bang for your bucks out there. where are you going to get a high performance car worth in her day 85 grand. to build her today who knows the cost, 10 to 15000 is still a bargain. even if you have to spend a few bucks to keep her going.cheers bigmax:biggrin::zlove::zlove::zlove::zlove::zlove:
i like the Z and all, would be a nice car if it was better maintained and runs properly all the time. That said, I would most likely ditch the Z if i was to choose between that, and a newish RX7, or an evo...
Mines a keeper, it just isn't feasible for me to sell atm and probably will never be, that being said tho if i wrote it off, id go out and get another one... Ill most likely keep mine as a project when i get my blacks and get something a little newer for a Daily Drive.
Stu while I like to agree with this, I'm afraid here in Australia we are actually more spoilt in terms of resale price. One of the eps in the current Fifth Gear series showed the kind of cars you could pickup second hand in Britain. 95 Jags XJ6 ?1,000 first generation straight 6 M5 ?2,900 early 90s 7 series ?900 early 90s merc S class ?1,200 95 Ferrari 456GT ?10,000 (this was from an earlier series, probably less now) Even if you convert it over, it's significantly less than any Aussie equivalent. Granted it's much more costly keeping a car on the road over there but initial purchase prices are much much lower. Same applies for any Japanese car. These cars are selling in Japan around the 3k mark tops and it's only taxes and compliancing etc which brings the price up to 10k. Not surprising then the ones already in the country are being passed around for less than 10k. Aus specs are somewhat more immuned from it but not totally.
x 3 I've thrown too much time and money at it in 4 years, and even if the worst happened and it was written off - I'd buy another one - theres nothing else for the $$ that can compete :zlove:
