I'm sort of glad its not screamingly obvious why the idle is weird Bonez , makes me feel a little less incompetent for not being able to work it out when Greg and I were there. I'll be watching to see what it ends up being Caz..
I've seen similar when the TPS wasn't on the end of the throttle shaft, have you checked your TPS voltage at idle?
All the usual Consult values were about right. Inc TPS, Airflow voltage was about what you'd expect at idle, batt voltage etc etc . Nothing at all stood out
Hmm, I know the ... O2''s start registering after 2000rpm, this could be something to consider - although i've never seen cases like yours associated with O2 problems. ... But on the other hand, it's just something else to consider as your engine runs fine until 2k then hesitates big time. And the O2's lay dorment until 2k on the taco.
I have installed a series 2 ptu and a new tps, also wired up a new plug on the front of it. It has seemed to of cured the flat spot problem. but it still have starting issues when cold. The idle fluxes a little bit, but I think that it because of the boost leak. cheers bonezx
at this rate, boneZx, we will miss out on a tech day !!! .. good stuff, mate..... good to hear ....:zlove::zlove:
black baz. there will still be a tech day. so we can find the dam boost leak. but tomorrow is get the transmission working again day. just something for me to do. cheers bonezx
coming from you baron thanks that means alot. i know what you engine bay looks like and how clean you keep it. so cheers
wooooo hhhhoooooo Got my gearbox working again. all it needed was a new filter and some new oil. she is a bit slugish but still works. the only thing though, is that it's a standard gearbox with the 24 row oil cooler that caz sells. and i put 4L of oil in it and it still doesn't want it register on the dip stick. anyone know how much it should hold with the oil cooler on it. I though 4L would be plenty, but the dip stick is making a lair out of me. cheers bonezx
weird, boneZx ... have just checked my "owners manual" .. nowhere does it give the capacity of the gearbox ...!!!!???? ... good to hear of your progress ... any news on the boost leak ....???
Overview These are the things I can guess may be contributing and Bonz I know you have checked a lot of them but can you confirm 100% if you know these have been checked and are working 100% correctly all the time? 1. moved PTU wires changed to S2PTU, check all wires for damage and check all connections? 2. fuel regulator, plumbed correctly? 3. vacuume lines and boost leaks, this is for the tech day I think big job? 4. fitting on the end of balance pipe missing hose, did you find the hose for it? 5. Timing, what is it running, I can bring my new timing light if required? 6. PTU being swapped for known working one, I know it's new? 7. Rebuild IACV? 8. gearbox, full of oil, does an auto take heaps of oil as it has to fill the toque converter, or is that sealed seperaley? 9. if the auto gearbox is not running properly can't it effect the running of the engine? 10. oil pressure, I noticed you have no oil pressure on your dash gauge, could their be and oil pressure issue? Pressure building up and restricting the engine, crank preshure valves (are they the PCV's?). 11. lastly exhaust leak, I know you can usually hear them really easily but is there a chance an exhaust leak could cause some issues, from what I understand the TT are very reliant on a good exhaust. Now I know I've just about listed the whole tech section but I'm, only tring to help.
more progress i removed the plemun and retapped the hole that i stripped. used plently of gasket goo when i put it back together, and i had everything labeled and everything was but back where it came from. but still i have a major boost leak, still doesn't like to idle when cold and still doesn't idle nice when warm. so i worked on for 3 and a bit hours and got no-where. this shit sucks.
I think you need ALOT of trans oil, something like 8l or something when its completely empty. A lot more than a manual anyway. There is a trick to it because the tourqe converter will fill up when its running and empty when its stopped. Thats why there is a hot and cold on the dipstick.
If you replace the torque converter and refil. The Auto takes 9 litres of fluid. IF you only drop the pan it takes approx 5-6 litres. If you have a huge tranny oil cooler then it will take more. You are supposed to fill the T/C before you fit it on the flex plate mate.
