    Lol, but good idea...

I used to always think, why is everyone spending so much money on mechanical things, like steering, suspension, wheels, tyres, engine upgrades, computer management system upgrades etc etc, but they still have 20 year old body work on their z's o0

I think my mind was indulging in too many hellaflush videos and I was only thinking about the outside of the car.

    saying that....
I've now entered the realm of upgrading to high flow's, getting my computer chipped, and am looking at front and rear suspension upgrades to make my 19's sit and handle how they should when I have them put on.

and i'm still going to have 20 year old body work :/

it's all clear to me now...

    thats about right,

i was aiming at around the 900hp mark

I got the high flows, then I painted the plenum black to increase awesomeness of air intake, the front mount is better looking than the side mounts so thats got to add a few extra ponies.
I have some nismo stickers here and there, plus by the time i install the push button engine start and the remote start i shoudl have some more fully sick power.

i also have carbon fibre pedal set from sparco, but i think they are rip offs, so given foot to throttle capability is much cooler than oem pedals theres a few more horsepower.

I'm not sure exactly what a horsepower is but id say im at about the million mark with all the mods i've done...
still got a lot more to go into it though, might even be a million and fifty???

    won't know until i get it dino'd

    serious answer

the engine looked pretty clean, hard to say without actually taking it apart, but from what Noel was saying, everything inside looked in really clean a good order, like the tops of the lifter or the valves etc..

everything is practically new, all vac hoses, other hoses, pcv stuffs, gaskets, hose hoses, hoses that go on the other hoses, then i have all new intake piping etc.
clutch was good condition quality second hand but Noel took everything in to his work and machined everything new for me so it all works properly,

I've spent more on buying everything else new that goes on the engine than i have on the actual engine.

the high flows had 35000 k's i think, and apparently were in good nick, they are t25's with t28 internals or soemthing like that.
considering the bottom end of the engine is forged from stock from what i'm told its all up to the turbo's and the boost controller

I installed the Hdi boost controller because it had the mirror finish on it, not as good as another boost controller I could have put in, but I am trying to go for aesthetic quality in the interior so didnt want an out of place looking controller when everything else looks pretty shmick.

the ecu should be getting chipped this week, then the only other thing would be to go in for a proper dyno tune. that shoudl increase my max horsepower.

but for how it is at the moment, without going to the extent of getting the cams ground then I'm hoping between 350 - 420Hp. at least around the 300kw mark. not sure if that would be at the crank or the wheels. but should be more than enough for me...

thats a rediculous amount of horsepower anyway...

    Plenum Clean and Paint Reprise....

I got a spare plenum to spruce up while my engine is waiting to be installed, so i spent a day and a bit cleaning it with steel wool and then coated it with gloss black engine enamel followed by clear engine enamel. all up, 2 days work.

then once i got done with that I started cleaning all the bolts that you see in the engine bay ready to be sprayed. I mean, what good is having shiny new plenums and engine bays if your going to use multi coloured old bolts right....

Boost gauge and Gauge Pod Reprise..

I threw out the idea of getting the swoosh boost gauge. I still got the swoosh oil temp, oil pressure and water temp but i ordered a Hdi boost gauge and installed it in the instrument cluster.

and here's the swoosh gauges in the dash pod ready to be installed...

Thinking of taking the fake carbon fibre crap off the stereo surround, and if i do end up installing the gauge pod I have, i'll mesh it up to the stereo surround and give it a coat of matt or gloss black..

the transformers gear shift is just being used to the carbon fibre/leather gear knob i got from the states doesnt get all greased up during the TT swap..

the boots are replaced with CF style vinyl boots that fit well with some of the cf trim kit. although i think i might downsize on the amount of CF in the interior.

might throw the original steering wheel I have back on, especially for the rwc, I have a black and white one I got from a forum member about 18 months ago that should work nicely.

other mods for the interior include

    - push button engine start
    - Blue LED's replace EVERY bulb other than climate control and headlight pod bulbs.
    - custom fit black carpet matts

I think I already covered most of the mods in previous posts.

How does you pod Holder attach to the dash ?

I like it personally should come up really nicely

    Thanks Andrew? from facebook?

I have to cut a big hole in the dash, and then it sits over the top of the stereo surround, and some people use like a silicone or a glue to glue it to the dash. need to modify the stereo surround so you can still remove that though.

another plan is to use the body of the holder, and fg that into where the air con centre vents are which arent working on my z anyway. means i can still have gauges up higher than din slots, and i dont' have to cut hole in dash.

might look mint? especially when i finally get around to changin the stereo to a double din touch screen...

but don't tell anyone, its a secret

why do you need to cut a big hole in the dash to install the gauge holder? I would have thought you only need to run the wires for the gauges through it?

  18. waynoz

    waynoz New Member

sadly not, because the contour of the pod to follow the curve of the dash, the gauges have to sit just under the surface of the original dash..

I might be wrong, it is hard to tell with those metal sticks stuck in the back of the pod. and my gauges are slightly more shallow than some other brands.
I'll double check before i make any lasting decisions on how i'm going to install it though...

but there is a chance you could be right

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

please don't call it a camber kit. only stupid people who don't understand how suspension works call it a camber kit :)
