time to start a thread for Waynoz.

at the moment its a fairly stock 1990 2+0 na apart from a Stillen front spoiler and nose piece, its lowered and sitting on 17" Advanti rims. Interior is tweed with a carbon fibre trim kit and stock steering wheel.

I'm wanting to keep the look fairly original and simple, I'm liking the Stillen equipment but apart from that its going Brazillian and I think the sides look alright as they are without sideskirts on.

I've got a bunch of stuff in the mail at the moment including more blue Led interior lights, a new centre console, carbon fibre look gear and Ebrake boots, a new steering wheel in much better nick and with some white leather and a few other bits and pieces.

Engine wise I blew the heads on the NA a few months ago after a heater hose decided it had had enough so I fried the engine driving it from Queenscliff to the Zed Shed in Gtown. Bryan paid the NA its last respects and with the heat coming off the engine probably cooked himself a well done steak for dinner.

fast forwards a few months and its been sitting around while I wait to get some money for a TT swap, It just got lined up a TT with a built bottom end, High Flow Turbos and around 5000k's since it last had work done to it. in the next month or so Waynoz will get its much awaited TT as well as new suspension, glass, and many other things that it has long needed.
A new cowl grill will be on its way and hopefully after this round of work the next thing will be a black leather retrim to bring the interior up to a modern standard.

    Time for some pix...

Big Thumbs up to Bryan and Cal at the Zed Shed  for all the work they have put in so far keeping this Zed on the road and keeping it drivable considering the state it was in when I rescued it from the Z Shelter (Auctions).
    its had a hard life

    hopefully more pics to come...

Get rid of the rear wiper arm motor. Undo the plastic under the hatch and unbolt the motor. Then use a circle of vinyl or tape to cover the hole. :)

No the wiper is going back on, Its getting a respray along with the front wipers and cowl grills.

and No, Autobots badge stays on.. there was a 300zx autobot, but it was a Z31, not a Z32. but long story short....... No!

Get that transformers logo off your Zed. It makes you look like Civic-driving ricer faggot.

Really cool to see this car in the hands of a good owner. I saw it at the auctions online and it was looking quite sorry for itself. By the time you're done with it it'll be saved well and truly :)

and please replace that front bar! it doesn't fit.

Luv the Autobots hate!!! but also makes me sad :(

I like it, I walked past a bmw with a transformers badge when the first movie just came out, made my day.... I won't mention my plans for a car alarm that say's in Optimisus voice "Autobots, Engage, step away from the vehicle" when it goes off :p

but seriously, I wouldnt go that far... the badge on the front and an autobots gear shift is just enough.

Yeah this car was sad. it barely made the drive from frankston down to Geelong. the guy who sold it to me was all like "its such a fast car, i had to check to make sure it wasnt a turbo" then I was pushing to get to 100 on the highway. just after I got it back I struggled to get it to 40kmh to make it to the Zed shed, turns out whoever worked on it last didnt tighten up the crank shaft bolt (Yahaa!!! serious o.0)along with everything else the timing was way out, with all that the Doc ended up getting it going like a NA should be.

final straw was a heater hose draining the radiator while doing 80km up a hill near Queenscliff. figured its either sell it or put some real effort into it.. I've been cleaning, polishing, respraying and replacing what I can short of a retrim and a respray.. before christmas this should be a 300kw+ capable of 22psi boost cruiser!!!!

I like the Stillen style, the bar does fit, it just needs a few more bolts, extensive F.Glass repair and the drivers gaurd got a Kinck in it when i took it off road near the you yangs and destroyed a Bomex bar that I had on as a temp (water over a dirt road doenst necessarily mean there is still road left under the water :(.. Guess the Z just liked the Stillen better ;)

    old tint..

it may be a bitch to take old broken bubbly tint off of your car, but after at least an hours work, when its finally off, damn it makes the car look so much neater!!!!

+1 to steamer & metholated spirits

    Removal of old tint

    general tidy up.

after owning this Z for a year I finally took off the old tint that was in horrible condition. after trying many different ways to remove the tint i finally bought a steamer for $10 and after having to remove a build up of crap from the boiler tank so that it would work, used it on the windows, running a steamer over old tint makes it lift like a breeze... can't say the same for the left over adhesive though. but with copious amounts of metho, a few scourers and a final go over with orange grease remover i finally got it off.

    the results:

I have new tint in the mail, but to be honest.. i'm liking the look of the Z without tint atm.

    Boost Controller Install

    Heya!
sorry for the missing pix, I deleted them from my account so they go missing here too...

I spent 5 hours steam cleaning every surface in my car today, gets all the road grime and grease off the paint really well, but I'll give it a proper wax after i finish up some body work.

Other than getting mildly sunburnt, I got the HDI Boost Control in the mail today so I installed the contoller unit where the clock was. I'll leave it for the expert to install the rest of it considering the twin turbo is still waiting to be installed next month. but heres how it turned out.....

I run that same boost controller, had the stock turbos hit 23psi a few times.
Did you get the gauge aswell?

  16. waynoz

    waynoz New Member

No, I'm putting in a Swoosh boost gauge.

    LINK

Not sure if i can hook this one up in the same way since it doesnt have the dual readings??

No, It's not the same brand, but I like them.

    You like the Swoosh??

I found them in California, and they wanted more for them and 80aud each for postage. I asked if they could just send them economy but no dice.

I ended up finding the same set of gauges out of Taiwan for around the same price but with only 19aud shipping plus 7aud for each additional gauge... thats what you get when you dont have ridiculous customs laws thinking everyone is sending WMD's in the mail, you slap 'gift' on the side of it, declare nothing about its content or its cost and you mail it for nothing... Good Ol Asians!!

    painten the bits and pieces...

if your going to do something, do it right, right do it with me... or something along those lines...

    anywho..

I got a spare plenum to spruce up while my engine is waiting to be installed, so i spent a day and a bit cleaning it with steel wool and then coated it with gloss black engine enamel followed by clear engine enamel. all up, 2 days work.

then once i got done with that I started cleaning all the bolts that you see in the engine bay ready to be sprayed. I mean, what good is having shiny new plenums and engine bays if your going to use multi coloured old bolts right....

sorry for the poor quality photography!!!

    stay posted!!!

ps, i ordered some felt strip from ebay, black, cut it in half and glued it along the top of my door weather strips since the windows are scratched to shite because of the old felt wearing off. I still have the old windows in but they open and close like a breeze, and no rubber on glass screeches or shutters. new glass is on the cards...

I threw out the idea of getting the swoosh boost gauge. I still got the swoosh oil temp, oil pressure and water temp but i ordered a Hdi boost gauge and installed it in the instrument cluster.

and here's the swoosh gauges in the dash pod ready to be installed...

    got to love it....
