    Yes Thats mine

    Hi,

Yes thats my Zed. I had my doubts about the guards when I was thinking about putting them on, but after they were done they turned out better than I thought they would. It was a lot of work though getting them to fit properly and the glass job was not the best either.

Thanks for the compliments about the car. Some people like what I have done with it and others not. To each their own... but I like it.

    Cheers

Dare I ask where the guards came from? Or is that better left to PM... I know there are a few version floating around.

Any more info about your kit? I really like it...

the shane/vanessa, 1989 300zx is absolutely magic ... not only has the exterior been done to perfection ... the interior has been done with the ultimate in taste ...

.. the quality of the total package is without doubt, one the best i have seen in over 4 years .. a 1989 zed that looks brand new .. it really is a special zed ...

    .. a big congrats to S and V .... !!!

    Thanks

    Hi,

Thanks very much for the compliments Black Baz. Seeing other people enjoy seeing the car as much as Vanessa and I really makes the effort worth while. To say we have put our heart and soul into it is an understatement. We like to think of it as an extension of us. We love it but our taste is not everyones, and that's as it should be.

Thanks very much again for the compliments, they are very much appreciated.

    Cheers

    Shane

Be interested to know who ordered the forum banner to be rolled up and where this happened. I'm sure the vast majority of the organising club's members would not have a problem with displaying the banner at all. Personally I think its a great idea.

On the 'value for money' aspect, for the organisers there is a considerable financial risk with no intention of making a profit, its that simple. Things have to be paid for, if there are not enough people who want to participate financially then no more Nationals.

I have no idea why any Z32 owners should feel left out, the Nationals give everyone an equal opportunity to interact with other Nisan/Datsun enthusiasts but as usual its up to individuals as to do so.

Anyway, glad to hear most had a good time and want to do it again, thats what its all about. :)

Congratulation Wes Anderson you won the newly stated 300z category

I only saw a quick discussion between an "official" and ( I think ) Victorian " DREDZ " ... then quickly the banner was rolled up ... maybe because the banner was spread out on the ground and could of been a public insurance risk. But from my perspective it did not look that way.

But seriously for a $200+ entry fee they could of easily had a few more categories (even my partner commented on this); all they have to do is look through the number of entries for each model. Maybe categories such as Best 240z, 260z, 280-300z, 300zx, 350-370z (future-proofing), 1200, 1600, Skyline (broken down into R32,R33,R34 if there is enough cars per category), and Silvia (S13, S14, S15). Basically, if there are 5 cars entries in a group then they could have a competition and scale the trophy size based on the number of participants for that category. There was a serious lack of Silvia and Skyline representation compared to there on road numbers. Again illustrating that there is a problem with attracting a broader spectrum of Nissan participants.

Congratulation Wes Anderson you won the newly instated (after the event) 300z category. Is this category been added especially for 300ZX ... where is the X ... simple thing but illustrates my point. Originally there were only one specific category that the Z32 fitted into i.e. the Z Car, but lets be honest Z Car clubs really cater for the 240, 260, 280 cars and not Z32s. Which is Wes car, if it is the one I am thinking of then sweet engine bay and interior?

There is a difference between individuals and organizations. From an organization perspective, well maybe the banner thing blurs my perspective.

It was good to see some long lost forum members again.

When did Mikey convert to diesel?

All jokes aside, I'm very sorry to hear that Mikey has had more engine dramas.

Lets put it this way Steven, the organisation of and entry to the car display was problematical due to personal matters and difficult relationships that can sometimes erupt in any club, often at crucial times. Shit happens sometimes, unfortunately.

Oops my mistake the 300z winner was a 300z

My point being if they are going to charge $200+ for car to enter a show-n-shine competition then why not have categories that better cover the predominant range of entrants.

Oops my mistake the 300z winner was a 300z and not a 300zx. This is not meant in anyway as an attack on the car and owner, as it is a beautiful original car. My point is how many Z31 were present, 2 maybe 3, and how many Z32 were present... so why a category for 300z and not 300zx.

I don't normally make negative comments as I appreciate that amount of effort that goes into organising such events, but i have to agree with Steven on this. I think there is an unhealthy elitism within the Nissan/Datsun clubs that predominantly discourages those who do not own early model Zeds.

Having attended both Phillip Island and Wakefield before that (and on both occasion paid to participate), I have some exposure to those involved in the NDNs, and have seen first hand what I call the Us and Them attitude (i.e. if you don't have a 240/260 or 280 you're a Them). A classic example being the awarding of trophies by these cronies to each other as occurred at Wakefield accompanied by some old fool with a microphone singing Happy Birthday to one of these recipients, not once, but several times.

Given my experiences, I had some reservations about entering the '09 Nationals. In the end I did enter, not just because I have a 300ZX or two, but because I felt that this event should be encouraged to continue even if, for me, it just means that I have an opportunity to spend a long weekend with AUS300ZX forum members from around Australia (As an aside, were there any West Australians there ???)

However, from the outset, I felt a "who cares" attitude toward myself from the organisers. To start with, during the Friday regristration, my name wasn't on the list of those who had paid to enter (Actually it was but was not in alphabetical order). I did not bring the receipt I had received when I paid back in November and I was treated as if I needed to prove I had paid. All this notwithstanding emails I had sent and responses I had received following the turnover in Treasurer (???) role confirming that all was in order. Why is it now up to me to prove payment. Eventually my name was found. I left registration with a sour taste in my mouth.

I arrived at the Show and Shine as required between 7 and 8. I was told to park at the back. It's not so much what was said on this occasion, but how. I spoke with others at the event. The attitude of those organising this event toward the 300ZX entries was casual, uninterested and uncaring.

I believe I have clearly understood the message that has been sent by the organisers.

    Cheers,

    Peter
