It was a serie3 Z31 300ZX. The attitude towards the 300's both early and late was in my opinion pretty poor

The Sydney Nationals plans to have each model catered for aswell as standard and modified classes.

Considering that the Z32 was one of the largest, in car numbers, represented at both the track (11 or so)
and more importantly, the show n shine (another dozen or so)and I'm certain those numbers would have doubled if a Z32 category was available,
the fact that there was there no specific category for that model,
seems like a complete oversight by the organising group.
From what I can recall there was not a single Z31 on the track and only 2 or 3 at the show n shine.
They are are both very different cars, some may say light years apart, yet they are judged under the same banner?
With the total participants from the Z32 group and the revenue raised from entry fees,
all of them should have been taken seriously or at least given a pretence of such (their own category).
Some of the most outstanding entrants were Z32's in all there manifestations and almost all of them were road driven/registered at least.
Am I missing somthing here or perhaps there are other issues involved?

Not just worn down to the metal, worn PASSED the metal!
That'll teach you to do a full inspection before getting on the track again. :p

Definately bitten by the bug after track time at Warwick. Have entered Grafton hillclimb running next month. Better give the new suspension a whirl.

It's taken half the face of the metal off with it, is what I meant.

I know, just picking on ya... its 'past' not 'passed'

    No it's not. ;)
Past is time pretence, future, present, past.

Passed is to pass, passing passed. Ya doofus.
It is worn in further than the original thickness, therefore it's gone passed.

I think I am about one of the last to get home, I got back some time monday night after spending a few days on Tambourine Mountain, a quick trip to Brisbane and a leasurely trip home taking in the sights.

Things didn't start too well, my car developed a misfire at idle two days before we were due to leave, so there was a bit of frenzied work including a last minute rapid plenum pull which failed to find the problem but as the problem went away as soon as I put my foot on the accelerator I decided to go along for the trip anyway and keep a careful eye on it.

Not far into the trip I got another scare when about 100km after filling up the fuel gauge had dropped below half full. A quick roadside check-up and a quick consultation with Mark driving behind me as to the state of my exaust gas showed no obvious problems and a top up in the next town confirmed that it was just the gauge or sender playing up.

The rest of the trip was reasonably uneventful but fun, some points of interest being Doug, Mark and I getting almost identical fuel ecconomy for the bits of the trip we all measured despite reasonably different cars, down to tenths of a litre over 500kms. Emma's surrogate mother at an amusing outback themed restaurant, then Mark 'checking out mum' as Andrew put it, Pete getting a metal splinter in his eye (ouch). Andrew's first border crossing and some interesting traffic heading to various other Easter events.

Meeting everyone at Warwick was great, most of the antics have been well covered so I wont go over it again but I should thank everyone who helped my chase my idle issue (though with no success unfortunately), especially WYKKED, K-Zed, MagicMike and Black Baz.

I had a lot of fun at the track on both the practise day and the sprints on sunday. The track surface was great and the layout was good too, especially for a car without too much power. As a few people have mentioned the organization of the event left a bit to be desired with lost times, ending the day 2 hours early and a few other things. I'm sure the organizers were happy to get to go home early but for some of us it was a very long way to go for 5 4 minute runs. That being said I did have a great time while I was there.

Well done to everyone who got out onto the track at teh drags and circuit, plenty of good results by Z32s in both places.

The hard luck award must unfortunately go to RedZedMikey, the hotel bungling his accomodation, lost (misplaced, not cancelled due to driving habits) license, great times at the drag strip 'misplaced' and then ceased engine so soon after all teh hassle he has already had with it since buying it. Still, well done for some good results on both tracks even if some of them were lost and for handling it all with extreme dignity.

Lastly just one picture from me, the Melbourne curcuit racing team discussing weighty issues such as driving lines, braking points and complicated race tactics, or maybe just where the doghnut smell was coming from all day...

    Lil' Baz I Love Skeptics!!!

    Well...

What can I say about Warwick that hasn't already been said? It was fantastic!!!

Leia (Prinzess) and I send a particularly special thanks to Craig and Kristy, for not only did they open up their home to all Zedders as Party Central, but offered Leia and I a roof under which to stay for the duration of the event. We can't thank you enough for your "Ultimate" hospitality.

It was a shame that my Zed wasn't running well, with a cooling system issue and the low load/take-off stalling problem, but my awesome mate's Pete and Anthony (Zedmd) really pulled out all the stops to finish her off and get her to Warwick.

I didn't even know for sure whether my Zed was even going to make it. Leia and I left for the Gold Coast the Friday before the Nationals for a holiday, and had left the Zed in the custody of these two fine gentlemen to see if they could finish her off in time for Anthony to drive my Zed up for me.

After calling them on the Tuesday evening prior to the Nationals, and being unceremoniously told not to ask how the Zed was going, I really expected to see Zedmd rocking up in his Bitsa-Squishy Lancer Cyborg.

I was genuinely shocked when Leia and I turned up at Craig and Kristy's place to see Zedmd on the front porch with a very self-satisfied smile on his face, and have him drag me around to the back corner of the Craig and Kristy's backyard to show me the fruits of several very late nights spent working on my Zed.

With a determined grin, Zedmd then informed me that (as it should be) it was my job to spend all of Good Friday morning cleaning my Zed from top to bottom. The next morning, after nearly five hours, the Zed looked nearly brand new and better than it ever has in the four years I've owned it.

I'll post up a vid tomorrow night of how the Zed (and its brand new custom hand-made stereo install) looked.

But beyond offering another heartfelt thanks to Kaos & Ultimate Kaos, I feel it is time to post the events most memorable moment - for those of you who were there and want to relive it, for those of you who were there but missed it, but mostly, for those of you whom (for whatever reason) were unable to join those of us who had such a great time in Warwick...
