Well engine builder ... Rekons 1 month to do build, then probably a month for me to bolt it back together. Turbos are still the question, rebuild, hiflow or new waiting till get details from engine builder on condition and costs.
go new turbos if you need to replace them. i've heard alot of bad stories about rebuilt ones. but that is just what i've heard
Chili flies the hi-flow flag round here, 6 years, 270rwkw. i think. no drama's. Nothing wrong with hiflows if done right. the only complaint i have is that the cost has become quite high in recent years
It's cheaper to buy new turbos from the States 99% of the time, Aussie shops for the most part just want to take all your money! lol
here is your answer for doing a stock rebuild with new turbos. http://www.300zxclub.com/store/prod...=2769&osCsid=b8d1fcc188d2655e30ac8340243bd2b7 Quick, cheap and NEW
So true ... The cost benefit of rebuild is minimal but with a reliability question mark. New turbos arnt that much more when you consider the kits come with all gaskets water/oil lines etc. http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?products_id=1451 about $3000 landed. Correct me if I'm wrong but rebuilt run at about $2000 plus approx $400 in gaskets and lines etc. I keep trying tio talk myself into a stock rebuild but turbo cost keeps making me look at upgraded turbos. and doings this: http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?cPath=6_343&products_id=1081
$1000 gets you NEW turbos if you use the centres in that link. The housings DONT wear out, only the centres. Swap the housings over and off you go. New turbos. Cheap and easy
These look good ... So $438US x2 = $876US = $973 australian (@ .90) plus frieght plus duties. What sort of duties do parts attract when coming into Australia ? Cant get the Z1 PDF install link to work, is it relatively straight forward for me to do ? BrisZ
install isnt difficult, unbolt old housings and actuators. Bolt onto new centres. You could even take em to a turbo rebuild shop. It would take them 5 mins to swap them over and probably cost u $50. No tax or duty if under $1000 for articals. postage shouldnt be much. centres are light, say 2-3 KILO max
Thanks Tektrader ... Tektrader you sound like you know/have had experience in bringing parts in: As my motor is going to machine shop this week I'm getting very close to having to make some descions after and based on the report I get back. When comparing products available locally and overseas frieght and duty obviously comes into play. So all items under $1000 dont attract duty ? How much is the duty/tax for items over $1000 ? If I land 5 items simultaniously valued at less then $1000 each will I incur duty ? What is the effect on frieght costs buy breaking up a shipment ? Please excuse my ignorance on this subject but it will play an important part in helping decided what I am doing with rebuild. Many many thanks, BrisZ
there is GST of 10% on all items over $1000 per shipment. So you have to weigh upo whether the GST will out weigh the extra cost of separate frieght. In my experience many suppliers understate the actual cost in any case. So manu shipments come in under the wire. I suggest you ask COZ for a favour. He will accomodate you
yeah coz is good with stuff like that. Sometimes sends packages as return to sender, damaged goods etc to get the best price possible for you.
