They are Dodge specific things that would be ultimate lame sauce - like putting ferrari badges on it :bash:

Well paying people to do a job is proving harder then you would think.

Originally I was quoted 1 month for engine rebuild, at 10 months it still wont be done, so I pulled the job, the engine will be coming back to me in bits in boxes.

Delaying parts from states cost me $1800 in exchange rate.

Where the f#%$ does someone get of saying that it will be 1 month and still not have in done in 10 ?

Jeeez this is hard work

Thanks for your support and help ... again Pete.

BTW hows your business going ?

    Q. How do you set Pete up in a small business ?

    A. Give him a big one

Yet another example why Pete/Fleet/AMEC is a business person of poor ethics and morals and not the sort of person you should spend money with.

WTF is that supposed to mean? Pete has always been great to me - I'm assembling my motor there atm (and have been for months)... Not to mention the time when my new UAS clutch exploded and he removed the broken one and re-installed the replacement for free (when he was by no means obligated to do so - since it was UAS's faulty item and he merely installed it for me) :bash: And that would've been quite a few hours labour...

if you go to Coles and the price on coffee is $5.45, you dont argue with the checkout chick about the price of it. The price of something is the price for a reason.

the reasons I am in the unenvious position I am in now are:

    1. paying one previous mechanic too much money, and which I still owe money
    2. being too cheap with servicing and saying things like "oh dont worry about that, we wont charge you for that".
    3. alot of the existing client base followed the previous owners when they left
    4. started out too big, the building is too big and hence the rent is more than I can afford.

    they are the facts.

PS. will we be seeing you at Lady Z's christmas party?

Your comments above were unnecessary and in poor taste, you behave like a little boy repeatedly.

Pete you are the master of poor judgement lay of the pipe mate.

pipe, I dont have time to scratch my ass, let alone smoke a pipe. and I wouldnt know what to put in it anyway.

looks like we have both been victim to poor choices now havent we? your choice of engine builder wasnt the best now was it?

and you can have the last word, because I really dont give a rats ass what you think.

Can we keep this on topic. Didn't want to really see a sledging fest when i was reading a thread on engine rebuilds.

OK back to the job at hand :diespam:

I will probably source the rebuild parts myself from the states.

A few questions I would like help with:

    1) Can you tell how much has been machined of the block and heads from factory ?

    2) The stock 300ZX pistons have an oil gallery into the crown, what is the correct name for this type of piston, are there aftermarket of this type ?

    3) Are there any pistons that can be machined to allow zero interference should a belt snap etc ?

OK finally have a built long block after a 12 month delay from previous builder.

Would like to thanks Eric (drz400y) for being helpful during the process.

One thing I would like to say about Eric is he is true to his word, he has the "best rates and best service" when he said he would do something he did it, when he said he would drop the motor of at 1pm there he was on the door step at 1pm, he informed me of things I needed to know. All of this has given me great confidence in the work he is done.

He a guy with ALOT of experience and the common sense to deal with it properly.

    Could not be happier.

    Thanks Eric,

    John

Sometime next week we should be making noise. It has been a long road John, but it is going together very nicley. The smile on your face when you turn the key is going to be a kodak moment.

WOW, Eric has had the car for 1 week and has done an awesome effort it getting it back together.

Intercoolers are mounted and Eric is the middle of fabricating some ducts for the Japtek side mounts.

Auto gearbox and tail shaft is back in, OMG it has a drive train.

Really happy with the attention to detail Eric has shown in getting this car back together, that I delivered to him in bits and pieces. Freaks me out how he sorts through the pile of shit and finds what he is looking for.

Any way I will put some pictures up shortly, not a lot to see bling wise, fairly standard looking engine bay with the usual deletes, I wanted it this way, even went with black Samco hoses and black replacement hoses through out.

I'm not a big fan of what I call "vender worship" but I really have to put this out there, In all my years struggling with bikes and cars trying to get good quality work done, no one has impressed me as much as Eric has.

Good to see that things are going well. Looks good. Cant wait to hear it running, and to see the smile on your face after taking it for a drive, I will try and remember the camera to capture that moment :D
