Only offering an opinion (sorry, pissed!) in an effort to help. The lines of the Z32 flow so well that anything that looks 'bolt-on' typically looks dogie... (sorry, I mean dodgie, start thinking dogie after a few). The pic of the merc shows flared guards which integrate perfectly into the car's overall design. IMDO, these will require the same! Plus, although Gold is king, very stylish, gold with black is probably a visual issue... Whoever added flared guards to 240 & 260z's was an out-&-ledgend But you'll never know unless you give it a go. Hats off to you Al.
I couldnt agree more. I thought I had expressed my intentions for the design but maybe I wasnt clear. The finished kit is being done in 3 stages, and each stage has 2 steps. What I am currently building are the flared arches for the guards, They will be molded into the guards and will be the same colour as the car, The black is just a guide coat. What you see on the car are the plugs, these are made of wood and bog and these are what I make a mold of to make fiberglass copies of them. The fiberglass ones are what will be smoothed into the car. Once these are done I will be making some side skirts, And then I will be working on some addons for the front and rear bumpers to make all the lines flow together. I hope people arent judging my design thinking that im making some huge black flares to go on the car. :O I wish I had some cg skills so I could show the finished product but unfortunately I dont and can only go on what is in my head.
Give arashi a call, his CG skills are out of this world and make avatar look weak. i can bring my tablet (pc) along if your coming to the tech day on saturday and you can draw on your car image canvas. I have a rough idea of what your aiming for i think.
