[VIC] GOR cruise goes off with a HUGE bang and a record turnout

Hey All,

Was a GREAT rolleyes day at the GOR cruise, had heaps of fun and was good to meet new faces. Can't wait for the next one, thanks to everyone who organized and contributed to a successful day.

So I've culled 450 photos down to 390 and chosen 68 to host and 10 of them to frame and post up, the other 58 will be available for viewing through the link below once I finish uploading them

Thanks to Col and Kingy for organizing a fun day! Like most people I've been looking forward to this cruise for a LONG time It was great to see so many familiar faces even if i didnt get to really speak to alot of you More social time would have been great

I was just so appy that we had a sunny day on saturday to get as prepped for the big day as possible and that for about 98% of the time we had completely dry roads to enjoy

On a side note, great pics there craig, not sure how many you took all up, but ALL of those are amazing! I havent hada chance to even have a look at the few I took (decided to havea day off from taking photos). Will be asking to get a few of those full sized

Yeah, I tried to put everyones car up that I took a photo of that looked half decent ...


AND Craig..absolutely FANTASTIC shots!! But I guess you did take 450, which resulted in a few perfect ones hehehehe

 

Just so you know i'll probably edit the videos I took while Paul [GOTBLZ] was driving but there won't be any real audio due to the wind flying past. It sorta gets on ya nerves after a while.

 

What happened to all the black Zeds this year?

What a day! I'm still tired as. So a record turnout? how many did we have last year?

And I do have ask what's with the black to red ratio this year? I counted 13 red/maroon cars in Doug's aerial shot and WYKKED had booted off by then, so make that 14. (I'm counting the maroons cos I can't tell them apart in that pic). My mate Aaron was like, "Stop getting stuck behind Red Z's or you'll have nothing but pics of red Z's" Can't help it mate, it's like every 2nd car is Red!

The overtaking this year went up a level for me. One instance I scared the s#t outta oncomming traffic. I swear they were miles away. I overtook 2 vehicles on a long straight. And as I passed the first car, the oncoming car swerved as far as he could to his side of the road, I'm pretty sure I heard a disgruntled horn too. The other interesting moment; On the way to Colac I followed Doug as he overtook Renee, a tow truck with cargo, and a 3rd vehicle. I'm interested to know what speed Doug got up to, I'm not sure If I should post my speed, in case I end up like the owner of the Subaru. But It was definitely the fastest I'd ever traveled in a car. And the Zed just felt like it had so much more go.

Just can't stop flicking through all these pics. Is it me or have there been like a million more photo's this time? Being my second time on the cruise, I was less excited about taking a million pics. And looking at the pics Most of mine are quite similar, so here are some of the pics.






I'd be worried if I had Michelin, Pirelli, Good Year & Yokohama all on the same car.





And then I thought I run a couple through photoshop.

Cropped to widescreen for those with widescreen monitors certainly not to hide my green wiper blades.

Look there's a black Zed a the front!, So that means there was some sandwich action there black red red red red red black.

Yeah I saw that, it was a brownish Volvo?

He stayed on the gravel for like 300m after you'd got back in, was quite funny.

I saw someone else later on in the day overtake, and just made it back in before a car almost got them, when they passed me I noticed it was a learner girl, and the face she had was priceless, looked like she was gonna be speeding home to empty her pants.

 

Yeah Keen when Doug and you overtook I was thinking bloody hell lol...

But on the way home later when most of the Melb people had separated and there was only Andrew and I traveling back, we got overtaken by a red 300zx, and I don't think he judged it too well cause a car coming straight towards it had to swerve off the road to give way and blasted the horn..guess it didn't help when the cars in front of me weren't leaving a nice enough gap to squeeze into..but my heart skipped a beat I must say...

Then there was the time when Amy and I were in the zed coming down at 100kmph and a random car decides to pull out in front and not get going, so we had to slow down a bit..then they were going pretty slow..and later on indicated to turn right..and I swear the indicator was on for 10-15 secs..and the guy was coming almost to a stop in the middle of the road, then I saw his right arm doing something, and I thought "oh, he wants me to pass, that's why his going so slow"..so I passed him, only then to realise he was actually turning right but taking his sweet arse time..so he blasted me..I felt really bad ...just wish people would turn and not take forever..*sorry random guy if you happen to read this*
