I just walked in the door, after 550 klms and I didnt drive the whole way.

Here's a quick preview. I am sure there will be bags of pics from others. I counted 35 plus Z32's. It was a great drive except for a pair of AAT coaches doing the scenic run on the road. But we eventually got past them :)

Way to go monoplizing the whole of Geelong road Zedders :D

They let anyone on these cruises !!

Woohoo Cumberland river. I love this place.

stop playing with it Mikey

Thanks Big Col and Badzx !! Well done !!!

    What an unreal day!

I just want to say, thanks for the day to everyone, that was my first 300ZX Event, and it was easily the best day of my life.

I was expecting to see about 15-20 people, when I joined the group in Geelong I saw like 10 and I thought that was fairly decent, then I looked in my rear view mirror, and all I could see was Z32, Geelong had no road left.

I will upload all my images and videos to the net in the next few days, so everyone can grab them.

I just want to say thanks to BADZX (Kingy) for hooking my car up to his notebook and finding it was running twice as rich as it should be.

(I changed my username from White_Griffin, just so it's easier to know who I was.)

Well, what a top day. Thanks to BigCol and BADZX for organising an awesome cruise.... I got home at 7:30pm and driving began at 8:30am so it was a loooooooong day...... but fun none the less....

The usual meeting point at Todd road Shell servo on the Westgate...

    just some of the lads...

an interesting VL commo amongst the zeds....

more of the lads.... and lasses....

    and so off we go....

what a bunch of road hogs...

Amy was shocked that I could drive and take photos at the same time...... its a Jedi skill...

WYKKED just before he gave me the finger.....

we arrive at Point danger to meet some more members and stretch our legs....

and off we go again..... for the cruise proper and the twisties......:) Not many photos from here as I was having heaps of fun.... until Judith started to go pale and got car sick... so I backed off and just had a nice scenic drive at the back of the pack...

After what seemed a long drive, we got to Point Campbell where all the zeds were arranged into an arc for a photoshoot...

But the best part was the helicopter ride!!! This was our trusty steed... With Judith and I we had Renee (Renzed) and Craig... in the flight before us was BigCol, Nadine, Red32 and Chad...

I tried taking some shots from the air, but failed dismally.....

Once in the air, it was awesome!!! Here are just some quick snaps of the coast and the 12 apostles....

No one seemed to wait for us, except for a few..:) 30+ zeds down to 6.... I guess peoples stomachs were talking to them and they all headed down to the shops at point campbell for some late lunch....

After point campbell, we headed back towards Melbourne, via the back roads..:) It was a nice drive, but I have no photos from here.... I was buggered and just wanted to get home...:)

Awesome day, nice to catch up with everyone and nice meeting Chrispy our interstate guest..:)

    Cheers

One of these days I'm going to drive down from Sydney to go on the GOR cruise. Its a fantastic road, and what could be better than to drive it with a few (lot) other zeds.

    Great pics !

Cause of the traffic on the way down the road. Only way we could get a good go at it was to slow down and let Blipman dissappear into the distance. Then catch up FAST :D Damn busses.

The first one pulled over after about 20 klms but the second driver was a bastard. He kept us all at 30klms/hr for miles. Then as we got a good bit of road to blast past him. He cracked it and drove down the center line of the road so the people behind me couldnt pass. Nice type of guy:mad:

Considering the type of driving I did today. I cant beleive the fuel economy I got. 520 to the tank full.

Was an awesome day :) Felt a bit left out not being in a Z, but Ben made me feel a bit better and so did who ever was driving in the celcior :D

Will post some pics up over the next few days.. It was hard taking pics while driving, but I think I managed to get some good shots until we got to the twisties and got occupied.

Don't know who was behind me on the way back when I overtook the two cars going up the windy hill (I think Mark?? and blippy? another car came flying around the bend heading straight towards me lol close call

    BigCol That's what she said...

I'd like to thank everyone who made today such a great cruise. I didn't get a chance to meet you all as it is becoming quite a task organising cruises with so many cars (37+ zeds + a small number of non-zeds) and 80-90 people. It's tiring but worth it if people enjoy themselves. It's strange to think that little over 2 years ago we had 14 cars on a GOR cruise.

Special mentions for the day go to:
    * Chrispy for coming down all the way from QLD
    * MexiCandu for coming all the way from Stawell (it was awesome to finally meet you mate)
    * RenZed & Craig for coming all the way from Bendigo
    * Kingy for organising a special photoshoot & nice cruise route
    * The people who took other members as passengers on the day

I'm sorry that we probably spent more time than usual driving than talking, and that we had a REALLY late lunch, but I hope the special photoshoot was worth it. We'll address these issues for future cruises.

I have a few pics, and a small amount of video footage from the heli flight that I'll put up tomorrow or Tuesday if they don't duplicate what others haven't put up.

Anyway, thanks for attending and hopefully you enjoyed yourselves!

  20. red32

    red32 You talkin' to me?

    Col and "Kingy", You ROCK!!!!!!!!

    What an interesting 24 hours!
Left home at 10:30pm Saturday night to go to work. Eventful night, but the Privacy Act prevents me from relating anything (damn interesting patients who don't want their details broadcast on the inetmanet! Hint: What slithers through the grass going "Shhhgrrr!, Shhhgrrr!". A Tiger snake! :p :nono: )

Left work at 8:30am Sunday morning, and drove to Point Danger (Torquay) to meet up with everyone . . . Then on to the GOR.
Great road, pity about the traffic. Whatever, stick the thing in second and leave it there. Talks the talk, even if it can't walk the walk. Only problem for the day was a loose coil-pack connector. Flipped the bonnet, pushed it back down and motored on. Then temporary repair at Apollo Bay with a cable tie . . . still nice and snug.
There're plenty of Zed pics already, but the thing which made me change my mind about going was Kingy's (BADZX) great effort in getting the helicopter company onside.

So here's a few images of helicopters, and views from above.
Firstly, the company: "Great Ocean Road Helicopters"
    Eurocopter EC 130B Ecuriel (Squirrel)

Then there's the two 'choppers' (read into that what you will) that we were privileged to ride in, EC 120B Colibri (sort of like a baby 'Dauphin').

"And they're off . . .' well, at least, the first 20 feet (why is it that aircraft are the only sophisticated machines which still operte in Imperial measures?)

    OOOH! There's some Zeds over there, and a Robinson R44 . . .

"Hey, Pilot, this is not a tilt-rotor, you know!" The camera was level but the helicopter wasn't!

Them as was left behind . . .

    "Ground Control to Major Nadine"

The rugged rocks around which the ragged rascals ran . . .

    Entrance to the 'Blow-hole' . . .

    Loch Ard gorge!
The only shelving beach for miles. The "Loch Ard" was one of over 700 ships that have been wrecked on the Victorian coast. In 1878, it ran into the formation in the lower left of the photo. The two survivors were washed into the gorge by the tide and were able to scramble ashore and be saved. One, a man named Pearce, was shipwrecked twice more but survived to have three sons, who were all subsequently lost in other shipwrecks. Moral: Check the crew list of any vessel you plan to sail in. If there is one named 'Pearce', DON'T GO!

The "Twelve Apostles". Or is it seven? What time is it?

Anyway, back from our little jaunt. The helicopter is not permitted to hover over the landing field, so the pilot flew over very slowly to facilitate this picture . . .
Can any of the Queenslanders pick out Cliffy (Mexi)Candu, who now lives it large in Stawell?

The next group of "lucky" adventurers . . . Mark (Jedi-77) climbing aboard, his wife Judith, then Renee (Renzed), and her partner Craig (GagzR31 (suffer, Skyline boi))

My new favorite photo of "DREDZ" . . .

Oh!, they're back! "Use the Force, Mark. Use the Force!"

    Kr4usy getting all artsy . . .

What is it about red and black Zeds?

Anyway, here I sit, 26 hours since I last slept, still "wired" from all the caffeine I've had (coffee at work and "V" and Red Bull today) and staring at three monitors . . . that's weird, I know I only have one! Think I better have a stiff whisky or several so I can get some sleep.

    Brilliant day!
