sorry to bring this up agian...chad do you have any pics of your car from the side coz im tossing up between 15% and 20% and wanted to see the pic with a zed...i saw bmw with 15% and it looked hot but i dont want the zed to be cop bait though...what you reakon?
also forgot to add its 15% or 20% all around and 5% at the top for $295 + life time warranty...is that a fair price though or could i get better????
well you have answered your own question havent you :bash: Go 15% and 1/you will be yellowed 2/you will see sfa at night
Im pretty sure in NSW, your allowed to go that low or even lower to 10% as long as the car is over 15years old. "I THINK" Its only on the newer cars your not allowed.
thats a good price if its including the targa tops. i got mine done for $250 20% all round (plus $50 to remove all the old tint) without the targas though. the 2 guys i went to wouldnt do them for me they said the glass can crack and break because of direct heat from sun. i said many guys have done it on zeds but they wouldnt do them for me ...ill prob get it done when i find someone to do the targa tops for me go 20% ryan no darker. 20% is perfect
lol,all 3 tinters i know do the targas , All the guys in the U.S have them done and nobody's has cracked,its a myth chad :bash: In fact Kathys are down there today getting done :zlove::zlove:
I also read on some tech artical that you cannot tint the targas because of those little dots on the glass. It cause air bubbles to build over time and esspecially in Down unders heat
ok,talk is cheap I just got back from having lunch with the manager at one of Vics top tinting places Facts IN VIC 1.Tinting 300zx targas is fine,they will not shatter as the targas are not laminated glass,if it was then they may shatter 2.Forget the 15 year old rule and how it was imported :bash:,the car has to have 35% tint on the windows no matter when it was imported or what was on it when it was 3. As far as legal issues,its not really the cops that are the problem although they may canary you if it is dark,its the insurance companies If you claim ,they will void your insurance if they think its too dark and as we know they will find any loophole to not pay out. Shannons are now testing the tint on vehicles which seem to have dark tint,when its found it is too dark,goodbye insurance,no questions asked 4.Any tinter that either says they wont do the targas or says it will shatter is full of shit,go elsewhere :banned: 5.As far as air bubbles,i just had Kathys done and there is no dramas,the dots are actually ceramic dots embedded in the glass and can not be scraped off as some people think 6. The cost of doing a targa tint is around $20 each,you pay more,you are being ripped off,15% is perfect :zlove:
That would remain to be seen Ali,i guess time will tell He told me he has done 3 x 300zx's over the last 2 years and all have not had a problem with air bubbles,but once again,having just had it done i cant really answer that yet
I'm not sure why you would tint the targa roof anyway... It is already somewhat tinted... and with the shades in place its already as dark as 20% or so. When I take the shades down, I want a bit of sun coming through, that's the whole point
True Sim, i personally wouldnt. There was a thread a while back about some guy doing a really sweet mirror finish job on the targas.
ey chad the place im going to charges $100 for tinting both targas and i think they remove the dot things too on the targas
