I'll say something nice at your funeral. Something about wood screws Hydraulic jacks can fail when under load. It can be sudden and violent. Get some jack stands.
stands are cheap as chips.. you have one on hand to slide under before going under... hell with a decent jack (which you should also have) you always jack half the car up at the same time.. ie under engine cross member etc... then you slide a stand in either side and be done.. takes 2 mins to do it the right way and it will be much much safer.. i found some pics of people having been crushed but even i cant stomach posting them up
Nah man had my wheel under the car incase it dropped. My old man's friend is now a paraplegic because a jack failed, got it drummed into me hard to always have physical support incase of failure.
still want more than a wheel.. rims aren't designed for sudden crushing sideways.. .wouldn't surprise me if the lip was to bend a fair bit, if china rims then to just shatter
Thanks for that I did consider it, thought the really hard pumps on a track would be the same or worse. I see how that wouldn't necessarily be the case. :< We all know how "a short period of time" becomes a long time. Something you thought would be easy gets stuck, or you drop something...Half hour jobs often take half days. Get stands.
challenge accepted? hahaha naat i wouldnt trust a rim either... just get some axle stands and do it right tight ass lol
I've got axle stands, but the car needs to be a good 50cm high to get em under. Maybe I'll try get some lower ones.
yeah i knome 4x4 stands that can go to 90cm high for the lux.. can only get up the bottom setting with the biggest jack i have lol i have half a dozen supercheap spec ones that are good for quick jobs
Yeah I have some cheapish pin type stands for light duties and just bought some 4500kg ratchet type stands for heavier work (ie my work Hilux). Heavy duty set was $80 and Aussie made etc. same company does a 2500kg version for about $50. Cheap insurance.
Nismo 740cc injectors and twin fuel rails sent to Arvin today for cleaning and flow testing, been meaning to for a while, bit of extra insurance with the new motor on the way. Tomorrow my 28R's go into MIQ for a clean, freshen up and to run oil through them so they, too, are ready. Said he'll run them through a VMR machine from memory that spools them to 100, 000 RPM for balancing, so that's neat haha. :zlove:
