Ztoy Mk1 will not be hitting the roads again. But its spirit will live on in others zeds (when I wreck it for parts).:p Hit to the rear has was too large and has buckled the floor inside the boot. Subframe has slight tearing and it will cost more than the car is worth to repair. Engine still purrs like a kitten, a cripled three legged one but a kitten none the less. I haven't fully decide what I'll do with her but it will most likely be stripped as I am in no financial situation to buy another zed with a busted motor and do a swap.

Keep an eye in the for sale section as there will be a complete NA-TT conversion kit and a Auto to manual kit with tt booster for sale.

As to what happened. I was using Martins old coilovers care of Chrispy. Firstly I let the whole group through so I was the last out as I had to get a feel for the new suspenions. On my warm up lap everything was fine came into turn one, lap 1 and it stepped out as soon as I started putting power down managed to correct it without any hassles and the rest of the lap was fine. I put it down to cold tyres and I spent the rest of the lap hard braking and trying to find how taily the car way. Coming out of turn 6 onto the straight put the power down and it held as the tyres were starting to come to temp. Turn one, brake early put power down before apex and was fine through exit. Came into turn 2, off gas roll into apex fed power and was fine untill half way out of the exit when it stepped left. I corrected like I did at turn one when it stepped earlier when the front gripped and flung me to the right. I went straight into the gravel sidewards and then it was all over. I was looking at the wall and could feel the gravel slowing me down.

I thought I was alright untill about 20m from the wall when I let go of the wheel and braced. I wasnt slowing down enough. After a very loud thud and my helmet smacking very hard into the "side beam of the roof", I was at rest. Not that I knew it at the time, the bucket seat (sparco) and harness stopped me from been thrown about and the only injuries I received was a decent whack to the ribs.

No sooner had I come to rest Mia was on the phone.:p

As I sat there looking at the other cars coming around turn 2 alot of others were getting very loose on the exit. It was a dusty day and It was slippery out there.

When it come down to it there are plenty of things I could blame on why it happened, I wasn't familiar with the suspension and tyres still weren't warm enough for max traction, dusty conditions, but all in all I was driving the car and I lost control. Its a risk you take when you go out there and its the sad side of racing but the thrills come with the spills.

My ribs are bad. I dont think they are fractured but they are seriously bruised. As time goes on they sorer they get.

I went to the hospital last night, had xrays and waited for over three hours to be seen when I cracked the shits and walked out. When there is a woman next to you buckled over in pain for an hour and what appears to be only half a doctor (not a full doctor) on call, enough is enough.
I went back at 11am this morning and there were people with children who were there last night still waiting to be seen to.
The public health system in QLD is S#%thouse. I cant believe how bad it is.:mad::mad:

I took my xrays and will see a GP tomorrow.

All in all I am alive, thing could have gone worse. They could have gone alot better:p I don't want to get into the "coulda woulda" frame of thought. This may be the end of this season but its not the end for me. I will be back out there again. (if Mia doesn't kill me for wrecking the zed):p

I hope that the results of your xrays come back ok and not too much damage, glad youre still with us :). Very sorry to hear bout the car, its a big step sideways but hopefully something (another zed) will come along when you need it.
I'm sure it has been an experience for you. Well done for getting as far as you have. Hope your recovery is not too painful :(.

there didnt seem to be as much grip

on the track yesterday, lost traction on the rear in turn 6 a few times, i have to say after knowing you went off on turn 2 for my first run i was takin it easy, runs 2 3 and 4 and with MAX with me I left beta about powering thru most of the corner I think once with max she stepped out a little but I kept her in check, there was alot of dirt and so on on the outside of turn 2 I did notice that all day, its a pity about the accident, hope ya get back on the horse and see ya out there soon, my car seems not to have any damage from the radiator hose popping off so I think I'll do the sprints on the 20th and call it a year for abit and get the car ready for the nationals next year.

I have looked over most of the video footage and there is some nice action in there, I need to get a decent mic to plug in the sound is crap, few close calls and a silly turbo starlet holding me up, I got around him and a few others thou which was fun and also a small drag race with a clubman down the main straight which i lost :( need to loose some weight i think lol, I'll post footage in the next few days I'm working on something else from the skidpan at the moment also..

I have to resize alot of pics and then upload and then decided what to show. Its a tough job.
