If you are looking to upgrade the performance of your 300ZX TT, one of the most useful upgrades are your intercoolers.

As well as allowing less restricted flow they will reduce your intake temperatures much better then your standard units.

By reducing intake temperatures more advanced timing will be available with better detonation resistance when tuning, which results in more power more safely.

    Core Size: 280mm x 200mm x 90mm
    Inlet / Outlet Size: 2"
Bar & Plate Design: 15 tube (Some similar designs are 14)

Fitment by all reports is relatively straight forward minor modification's may be required to fit.

Probably the most important aspect of fitment is ensuring the best possible air flow through the core, they are basically heat exchangers and the more air that goes through the core the better they will cool.

The standard intercoolers are fitted with ducts, they provided a path way from the inlets on the front bar to the intercooler core face. With out these ducts, when the air meets the restriction of the core face some air will flow around the core rather then through it, this means less cooling.

Whilst someone pretty handy should be able to knock some ducts up with out too much problem, what does it cost for materials, tools and your time ?

Kory Krofft of KK Engineering has developed a very lightweight set of aluminum ducts to help you get the most efficiency possible. They are designed to surround the whole area behind the factory IC opening and extend up to include the area behind the fog lights and turn signals. They fit fine with the fog lights and turn signals in place but allows the maximum ram air effect if you choose to remove the fog lights and/or modify the turn signals.

The KKE ducts are designed for the OEM 2K front bar minor trimming may be required for the stock OEM front bar.

To keep shipping costs down I am selling them in kit form. All that is require to assemble them is a pop rivet tool. Each kit contains 8 duct sides, 28 pop rivets, and 8 sections of foam seal strip.

The intercoolers are very similar to God Speed, Japtek and the "Huge MOFO SMIC".

    Side Mount Intercoolers $399
Optional KKE Ducts $149 (Available only with SMIC)

Free fitting for the first person to order, who is available for fitment at a2zed at Wacol in Brisbane, at a mutually agreeable time and also agreeable to pictures being taken for an installation guide.

If someone buys intercoolers with out ducts I will have a set available to sell. I will be ordering more ducts shortly so depending on how popular the sets are and ETA of the next shipment, I may have ducts available.

Brisbane pickup available, payment by bank transfer or cash. PM me for the details.

Could these fit to an NA which will have a TT swap down the track? coz my engine basically is like an oven after only an hours driving, and im yet to fit an aftermarket gauge, and how much for postage to Vic 3109?
By the way i have the TT front bumper, and everything else on the car is TT besides the engine for some reason, so no need to worry about airflow from the stock NA bumper.

As long as the intercooler mounting brackets are there, they may or may not have been removed when the swap was done, if they aren't when you get a TT motor to go in, they would cost bugger all to get.

The cooling effect that larger intercoolers have isn't so much about overall engine operating temperatures, that's more to do with your cooling system. Although lower intake temps will help on a TT.

Postage would be about $35 with Australia Post with coverage ($400) for damage in transit, or with E-Go and no coverage $20.

Do the ducts fit over the entire face of these Intercoolers?

Would the ducts be applicable for the smaller style Intercoolers similar to the ones below?

Yes the KKE ducts cover the entire face of the God Speed/Japtek/Huge MOFO style intercoolers.

The intercoolers you pictured are considerably smaller then mine, and are only 7" (180mm) in width and height, the ducts are made for 200mm wide and 280mm tall core face, so they wouldn't really suit.

Edit: The standard ducts would be close to covering the intercoolers you pictured, as the stock intercoolers have a core size of 6.8" x 6.5" (172mm x 165mm) not sure about fitment, mounting points etc.

In interesting fact I learnt while researching automatic transmission coolers is that core face size is far more important then thickness, although in an intercooling application core mass is important from a heat sink perspective as it avails more immediate peak heat transfer under boost.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers Dude,

I have the standard ducts but just seeing if these would be a better fit for the 2k bar.

    Cheers

Just an update to the FREE fitting offer for the first buyer in Brisbane, this is for both the intercoolers and the ducts, and must be from a stock setup.

This type SMIC are great! I have a set of the Huge Mo-Fo ones (which are the same size and design). Excellent cooling, and off memory i only had about ~1.5psi pressure drop over the system using these coolers. My old very expensive TRUST SMIC had ~3psi pressure drop, and not as much cooling capacity either. Highly recommended folks. And the price certainly is right! :zlove:

I want a set of those ducts.

Will they ever be sold separately?

Once I can gauge demand for the intercoolers, I only have enough sets to go with the intercoolers I have at the moment, and I don't want to separate until I can get an ETA on the next shipment of ducts, should be able to give you an answer mid next week, sorry for the stuff around.

    These I'm told are great.
I also like the idea of supporting a Qld business.
Having said that I'm in for a set providing they fit behind my abflung type4r front bar.

I bit of trimming will probably be required, but at the back where you won't see from the front.

I will be getting a set of these at some stage. If I didn't have to spend money on current repairs I'd be ordering them now.

Can you please Pm me when you get them? I have been trying to chase a stock set of ducts for ages, but they are all broken and or cracked. So these would be perfect. Cheers
