Not sure about the paint, i was told that it was his sons fav colour. I bought them off ebay, just regular little L.E.D's and soldered them together with a resistor. Followed the article in the tech section. Ill be buying coilovers my first so we'll see what happens
If you have a shagged tensioner, a slightly undertensioned belt can flap against the timing covers, different noise to lifter "tick". Very pronounced at idle to about 2,000rpm. You WILL skip teeth eventually.
Timing belt slap is a very different noise to lifter tick. Drove my na 1500+kms home with a failed tensioner (plus however long the previous owner had been driving it like that for) with no issues! No jumped teeth or anything. I probably got lucky though...
Thanks for the replies guys, heres the vid, the sound is most predominant at 19 s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVK53kxzh7M&feature=youtu.be
if you have to take it apart for another reason it might be worth taking a few snapz, but dont stress too much. I just havnet been able to figure out what size bulbs they used for the things? would be interesting to see how you've tackled the job. cheers Bro WaynoZ
Sorry it took so long, finally got round to getting a few pics i basically followed JEDI's guide -->http://www.pexcom.com.au/z32cms/e107_images/LED-Conversion.pdf
Interior's finished, a couple of spots aren't 100% as I've said earlier, but I'm happy with it. Gauges are all wired in but the stupid oil pressure is retarded. Tried 2 senders one was completely stuffed, then I got a new one which worked but now doesn't. So I decided id buy I new gauge. A drift one, turns out its almost identical. 3rd time lucky aye? put it this way I can interchange between the drift and calibre gauges when I feel like it now aha Oh and my odo stopped working so i thought id follow the tech article to check if the gears were broken or clogged. anyway whilst it was apart i fitted my white faces. what a mistake that was... Had to pull the needles off anyway the shafts came with em. I managed to get em all back in a sitting right but now the rev gauge is out the fuel gauge sits well below empty and temp gauge well that doesn't work at all, and after all that the odo still doesnt work, new cluster is on its way. I have one question: because the new cluster I'm getting is a tt cluster, is it possible I can take my aus spec speedo out of my current cluster and put it into the new one I'm getting?? anyway some photos are in order. Interior Gauges looks good but id prefer functionality...
Robbo you will be able to swap the speedo over...a few fellow members have done it. Looks good Abraham
Cleared aus spec and jap spec indiactors I had an idea today, after selling dean (bRACKET) my aus spec dummy indicators the other day and I wondered whether I could tint the j spec and aus spec indicators. Anyway i went and bought the paint stuff got home began to take off the indicators. Then i changed my mind and thought what if I could take them apart and get rid of the orange look. So I heated them up and sure enough they come apart. enough talk here's the pics
Finially 18 and got my p's Well after 1 and a half years of owning my z and having to drive it with a fully licensed driver i am now free Got my red P's Monday morning Looking forward to being able to cruise without the hassle of finding someone to take me! Anyway i got a set of MDU coilovers for my birthday from my brother, only put the fronts on, will do the backs tomorrow and get a pic. I will also be getting a set of rims/tyres from my parents, most likly these :
You know this thread actually restores a little of my faith in the younger generation. I'm out every day on the streets of inner suburbia, doing the whole postie thing and all I seem to see is poor unloved 90s Nissans getting molested with fart cannons, massive chrome rims and every other blight on automotive culture imaginable with the ever present ominous green P in the window. Yet here is a story of one fella, younger than most of the aforementioned culprits, systematically and lovingly unmolesting and giving a little dignity back to arguably one of the most iconic of nissans recent history. Good on ya for sticking it out with your zed and rescuing it from heart of bogansilvania young'n.
Coilovers are on, and its quite low, low enough for me to now have to pretty much avoid speed humps, Ill set the height properly when i get new wheels. https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.ne...8004543262_521618261_9537320_1685414073_n.jpg
looks good, raise the back a 1/2 inch and drop the front 1 inch, you've got mad bogan squat going right now
