tassie, mafi, big col,x-rated .... a series of top posts ..the stuff that

makes this forum the magic place it is ... here is mafi expressing, as an 18 year old, some great, mature thoughts way beyond his age .. i know that we are somewhat off thread .. but tassie i really do appreciate and second your zed "classic" view .. my own initial apprehensions were similar to yours, compounded by the fact that i was/am totally mechanical/electrical/whatever, car ignorant ..!! you have no idea of the apprehension with which i approached my first forum experience .. "old",ignorant, knew no one, didn't even know why i had bought this beautiful machine that i was now driving ..

so off i went to this tech day .. tentative as all hell .. next thing, dr marvel, my now zed doctor whom i did not know from hades, read the riot act to all attendees .. that scared me even more .. christ, i thought, should i go home now ..??!! .. quickly all was happening, dr marvel was into my need to remove the cruise control restrictive setting ..and sending me off to road test it ..i get back and before too long my zed is on the hoist and suspicions confirmed that my centre bearing is stuffed .. half a dozen zedders filling me in on what the problem was and where to go (& soon..!!)
to get the job done .. and none, i repeat none of these guys had ever met me ... christ, just how good is that !!! .. and i can only say in the following 8 or so months, into cruiZes, tech days, one off tech jobs, advice, help, whatever, my zed EXPERIENCE HAS JUST GOT BETTER AND BETTER .. i effuse, but with reason .. i do seriously believe that anyone would have to go a long, long way to match the experience of this forum ..!!!

a little emotional perhaps .. but i love this place, these people .. stay with it tassie .. it only gets better and better ,,cos it is, simply, the BEST ..!!!

Jono, Thanks for taking the trouble to clear this up.

I wish to publically apologize to you here.

I overreacted - possibly because it was a personalized comment. I'm sure if you'd written something like "I think your car would look good with a set of 18s on it" I would have reacted differently. In fact I would have agreed with you - I'm very impressed with the look of your car, except that that's not the way I'd want to go with mine. I'm happy to keep it close to standard. I may go "Brazilian" at some time in the future, though, as my spoiler is starting to show evidence that its on the way out.

As stated elsewhere, any discomfort I felt at the cruise was not because of any action by any club member. You were all very accepting and friendly and I would have enjoyed the cruise except that I just have to get my head around the fact that as the group doesn't mind me around then I shouldn't worry about it either!

I'll probably come along to Baskerville if you guys would like a photographer. You'll probably be so busy checking/tuning your cars for each run that you won't have much time to take photos, so maybe I can help or at least augment the number of photos you get. I definitely won't put my Zed on the track as it's only an NA and I see no point in running it as it's only in stock tune anyway.

In conclusion, thanks for your friendship, and a big SORRY for taking your comment the wrong way. I reckon our little group down here has heaps of potential! Hopefully we can get a few more involved - there seem to be quite a few zeds around in Hobart.

    Hi John

Hang in there...I'll be down there in about 16 months time. This 60 year old would love to catch up with you if you feel like a cruise up to St Helens or me down Hobart way. I agree by the way - I like the way the zed looks straight out of the box.

Mind you I have seen some aftermarket wheels that looked awful tempting:LOL:

    Cliff:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks Trav, no detonation at all >>

unless I use 95 or 92 octane fuel, so only 98 will do. I also have quite large side-mount intercoolers which help for the boost without pinging.

However, i do plan on getting a custom tuned chip made up whilst on a dyno one day, to maybe get a few more horsies out of her. :zlove:

    Cheers,
    Ben.

Thanks Barry and of course the posters you mention too.

I've been on this forum for 4 years now, I have it as my home page on all the computers I use, and it is a never-ending mine of information on my car and gives me an insight into how the people who also own and drive them feel about their rides.
I've had many wonderful experiences in my online exchanges and offline assitance, which have made owning this complex car a richer experience.
To finally get to meet a group from the forum, and go on a cruise with them was an awesome experience.
I'm sorry I descended into negativity, but I'm pleased you all helped me to get over it. Barry, I agree with you totally about mafi-zeds post - in fact that post more than anything turned around how I was feeling as it helped me see it from the standpoint of a younger owner who finds himself at a cruise where everyone is a lot older.
Moderators - sorry this exchange sort of hijacked this thread - it got a lot bigger than I intended, but it wasn't trivial. Thanks to all and it's made me an even more avid aus300zx forum user/member!

Tektrader Z32 Hoe, service me baby

John, I find your comments from a page or so ago a bit sorry!!

I am 45 years young but inside I feel 25 !! Can't see that changing. The only thing that has changed about me over the years is I am a bit wizer and know a hell of a lot more than 25 years ago.

I can do a lot of things now with the benefit of years of experience and practical knowledge with this car that many 20 year old's wouldnt have a hope of coping with.

One thing that hasnt changed is my sense of whats hot and whats not.

The 300zx Z32 has given me an opportunity to own the car I always wanted when I was 20 and couldnt afford. I dont think the fact I am older has changed my attitudes to having fun.

Ask Victor Bray of growing old means slowing down !!

We are not all 20 sumpfin's. So dont put yourself down! Live how you feel!!

I thought you were moving down here sooner than that, Cliff!

Anyway, it would be good to meet whenever you're in Tasmania. Keep in touch!
I sort of agree about the wheels, but I quite like the standard 16" jobs and I'm not keen on the price of tyres to fit oversize rims.
