Update! Got all the rubber bushings pushed out of the spindles, rear sub frame, and the arms I'm going to be reusing. Sending everything out to be powdercoated this week. Got some misc brackets back from powdercoating as well. Once I have everything back I can get the front and rear suspension back together. Then off to my buddies bodyshop to finish shaving the engine bay and paint!
Got some stuff in the mail today. Rear fender flares from zshop.ca. I'm so excited about this! The last thing I need to get is the wingswest urethane front bumper, and then I have everything for the exterior. Crappy cell pictures, Sorry!
Thanks mate, small progress update, this weekend I was able to get the passenger side wheel well refinished and undercoated, also made some progress with the engine bay. Removing paint, and rust. Got all the rust removed and surfaces treated. Just have to remove a little more paint on the firewall and the engine bay will be ready for paint! It's such a tedious process! I can't wait until the body work is done!
Hey guys, quick update! HOLY CRAP IT"S BEEN AWHILE! Got the engine bay all finished and ready for the body shop! Someone spilled some brake fluid down the frame rail quite some time ago Treated the rust, and ready to be welded back together. Got my oil pan flanges in! Perfect fit! Rear sub-frame powder coated and going back together New Wings West urethane front bumper Solid Diff bushings! Sub-frame installed and suspension goodies bolted up. Got some new 10.9 grade bolts to replace the 7 grade OEM bolts.
Your doing a great Job! Wish I could take the zed off the road for a long period of time to go to this level. This will surely be a fine example of a Z32! :zlove:
I understand the attraction as they are so cheap compared to others. I would be concerned about the weld points and the rose joints. You didn't want to go with Powertrix to match the coilovers?
Well the main thing that attracted me to them is everyone knocks Godspeed products for being crappy, but never saw any proof. These are anodized arms so there isn't a thick layer of paint over the welds, they look very nice. I just wanted to try these, to maybe shed some light on the strengths and weaknesses of the Godspeed arms. If I feel the need, I can always replace them down the road.
Thanks sir! Haha that's why I bought a cheap backup Z last year... I knew I'd go through Z withdraw! I mounted my tires Saturday, and bolted up some more suspension parts. I am hoping to have the car on the ground ready for the trip to the body shop this week. The tires weren't as bad to mount as I though they were going to be... BUT they were still a pain!
I installed the mock up block in the car again to get measurements for the oil pan. I was able to keep a quart capacity of 5.5 without dropping below the sub-frame, and leaving plenty of space for exhaust. I got everything drawn up last night and ready for production!
You're running that awful close to the steering rack. How are you going to do the oil pickup? For me that was the deciding factor when setting the engine height.
Well guys! New release! LOW COMPRESSION PISTONS! In the works are Scat H-beam connecting rods. Here are some examples... Compression Ratios available with stock connecting rods: 9.2:1 8.5:1 W/ Scat H-beam connecting rods: 8.7:1 8.5:1 7.8:1 Other compression ratio's available with stock connecting rods: 10.3:1 10.6:1 (11.2:1 w/ -.020 deck; 11.9:1 CR w/ .040" deck *must verify valve clearance) Scat H-beam connecting rods w/ OEM pistons. 8.5:1 The rods are 90% a go, still working out some minor details. I'll have more updates on the rods soon! With some ARP hardware the OEM connecting rods should be able to take a beating... 100 hp per rod rule of thumb? Similar to the VG30 and SR20. E-mail me for pricing and the quickest response! info@performancevh.com
Yes you can, but I wanted to offer a more affordable option. The Wiseco pistons will set you back $900 shipped to Aus. Compared to $1400+shipping from CP
Quick update: Wheel spacers came in today for the rear. Well, I finally got the flat patterns in for the oil pan! No time to waste! Start welding!
