yes baz I always try and search first before posting, problem is 99% of people have red, I don't like red calipers, also people use obscure titles which makes it laborious to find exactly what your after(including me). Maybe there should be a format for headings (think it's been discussed b4)?
I did mine with VHT high temp paint in a spray can...First I cut a coke bottle in half then fit the two halves together. I sprayed paint in through the opening in the bottle until I thought there was enough in the bottom and then removed the top half of the coke bottle. Then I painted the calipers using a small artists brush with them still attached to the brake lines. Once I had a few coats on them and the paint was dry, I draw filed the raised lettering with a 2nd cut file to bring it to a nice shine. It worked a treat
Most ppl have red, because that's the standard colour of Brembo's. I painted mine with yellow, Septone caliper & drum paint, with about 6 coats of high temp' clear, over the top. If you want pic's, have a look in the 'Black Zed Collection' thread. It all comes down to personal choice. I painted mine yellow, because I have yellow stickers on the front & rear glass, yellow forum stickers on the 1/4 glass, and a little bit of yellow on my rego plates. Makes a nice contrast to a black zed.
Here's mine Not perfect, need to touch up the NISSAN writing a bit, but much better than dirty old stock!
Heres some pics of Renee's, painted them on the Z with lots of newspaper and masking tape and then buffed the Nissan letters with an emery drill bit....would be much easier off the car though and if your brakes haven't been touched for a year or 20 then its a good excuse to get some new fluid in there I don't thinking clamping the lines is a good idea either...for one, your still going to get some air in the line no matter what you do unless you somehow block it at the tip and are uber quick when re-attaching it and secondly, the lines are fairly old and clamping or bending them may put a crimp in them or fatigue them and lead to a split hose. Cheers! Craig
Shhh! Don't tell anyone They where the cheapest tyres I could get quickly... Most lilely getting new wheels and semi slicks soon. Sell those wheels off in a couple of weeks, but still need to get around in the meantime. There actually not so bad. Haven't tried them on the mountain yet, but around the back streets they are fine, nice and quite on the highway too.
SHOTGUN buying them too. They're as good as mine damn it. A third set of rims won't hurt. ...I sound like a woman in a shoe department
just a question, if you spray the calipers with the wheels on, are there any bolts or screws or anything you have to avoid?
