Can I see you pics please, trying to decide what colour to do mine, or if to leave them and clean them up then clear coat.
G2 caliper paint Bought one of these kits from USA. Will be doing mine in a few weeks looks to be a decent product lots of colors. http://g2usa.com/index.shtml
Or you could just use VHT spray paint from Repco for $10... Worked for me. You don't need a piccy of mine Max, you saw them last weekend
yeah I want to see them on a zed is all, I know I don't want red and gold didn't work either. I'm thinking just clean them, paint the nissan badge white and then put heaps of clear coats on top. I also still keen to get a spare and polish it with a dremel see what it looks like.
I used VHT but they dont have the colour I want.. Im after bright blue (Royal Blue) and the blue they have is crap and dark. Im thinking of going powder coat the same colour as my engine bits, I dont expect ill get my calipers hot enough to cause an issue
I just used the Septone "Bright Yellow" caliper paint from SCA. Seems to be OK I don't have any close up pics though
A few pics here... Here's a few pics of my recently painted calipers... Big difference over stock that's for sure. Cheers Rob.
tuff i wanted to mine exactly the same. just dunno how to take the calipers off. ill work it out i guess.
To remove... If you want to remove all of them you'll have to drain/bleed the brake fluid out of the whole system using the bleed screws. Once it's all drained you can unbolt the brake line from the back of the caliper. It's one 10mm bolt. Then the only thing holding the caliper to the car is two larger bolts one on top and one one bottom. You'll see it as clear as day when you remove the wheel and look behind. They are easy to remove. It just gets a bit messy with the brake fluid though and you'll have to make sure you remove it all from inside the caliper otherwise it will eat away at your paint once you start painting... Cheers Rob.
cheers mate, bit of a long process lol? and also i cant possibly **** this up and make my brakes not work? lol thankx mate, look really good to.
Of course. Always be careful when working with brakes. Use loctite on caliper mounting bolts, make sure the brake lines are done up correctly and make sure you bleed the whole thing as well.
Here's the rear of mine... Its definitely not the best picture, but I painted my calipers red a few years ago, instead of taking them off, I removed the wheels (back then could only do one at a time, but if you have a trolley jack and stands you can do them all at the same time). Then just just used some turps to clean the caliper waited for it to dry then covered the rotor etc with newspaper and did a few coats of paint. Unless its going to be a showcar no one but your mechanic will get the see the 'other' side of the calipers. Saves having to bleed your brakes and the added cost of getting new brake fluid....without the hassel of making an error with basically the most important part of the car... Cheers, Andrew
you dont have to bleed the brakes you can do it one put a clamp over the brake line stopping the flow of the fluid then take it off if you dont want to blead them..
