The story goes that Toyota delayed the release of the JZA80, because when they
witnessed what Nissan released in the form of the Z32 300ZX , they shit themselves.
    Hence the name "POOPRA"

A funny thing about supras, I never seem to see them at the track??? A couple of years
ago I was at Wakefield Park, in my then 'stock NA auto', and there were 2 supras present.
After doing a stack of laps, I went up to them in the pits to say g'day as they
were parked near me and because I smoked them, neck and crop. To my surprise
one of them was a TT and to their shock and horror, they discovered that mine was an
NA auto, the look was priceless.:D :D :D It was funny, as the excuses came out thick and fast
about the huge problems they were having, turbo's not working, tyre pressures were wrong,
Venus was not aligned with Uranus, etc.
One of the best track days EVER!!!!!

I agree. I saw a video on youtube somewhere saying the 300zx was much better than a supra.

When I did the SAU motorkhana at DECA a few months back, I was the only Zed in the field. Got a lot of looks from the other skyliners and took a bit from a few of the owners who all have that mentality that the zed was a boat and underpowered for its weight. Mines and NA 2+2 targa manual and power to weight wise it should be close to the bottom of the list of the 300zx models. I didn't really get into them I defended the car and said its not as bad as they all thought.
Now keep in mind my NA is as stock as a rock at the time, not even a pod filter. Only power mod would be a cat back exhaust but its only a gain of a few kW at best (made the car sound louder though). The shocks and springs are still the 17 year old OEM stuff and the only suspension mod would be the upper arms which I had set for a bit more neg camber. And I have the TT calipers with slotted brembo's. So I wasn't expecting to perform that well. On all the solo events I really had no idea of how the car was performing.
But when It came to the Battle events on the skid pan where you and a competitor race around identical tracks on two halves of the skidpan, I found that I could not only keep up with a few of the other cars but I actually beat one of the guys who said he wanted to see how much he coould own the zed by. He was running a gtst. Not highly modified but all the usual mods. The main reason why this was my NA was one of the few cars that wasn't getting wheelspin through the gears because it didn't have the power to keep the wheels spinning. I'd get wheel spin in first but in second I could floor it and it was all grip. Where as all the other RWD's were getting wheelspin through all the gears. lol.
So I was actually accelerating faster because I had less power. hahaha. And even if the car did get sideways it couldn't hold the slide so it would grip up and snap back and I'd accelerate out of the turns faster than he was because he was struggling to get grip.
Then my friend drove my car and he lost to the car that eventually won the whole event by the thinnest of margins. Nobody thought that the Zed would stand a chance.
And the best thing was that only Blipman who was there and my friend who also competed knew that the car was an NA. Because of the PCV's, my car was smoking white out of the exhaust for most of the day due to the hard right hand turns. So all the other competitors I talked to thought it was a TT and the oil smoke was turbo blow by.
I managed to convince a few people that day that the Zed's aren't as bad as everyone says. Its mainly people who have never driven or been for a ride in a zed so they just base their opinions of what some of the magazines have said about the car.

If the 300zx TT is slow, then the NA must crawl....... NOT!

The NA aint no slug, just a few weeks ago I was driving home when I caught up to a few cars stuck behind a late model commodore SS ute crawling along the highway at 80 in a 100 zone playing the "Ive got the most powerful car on earth" game. Got to an overtake lane and the SS takes off as fast as he can leaving everyone behind, I over took all the other cars and continued on until the overtake lane ended where I caught up to the SS once again doing 80 in a 100 zone. We reach a town where its a 60 zone so the impeadore slows to 40 (with a line of cars stuck behind him).

I new what to expect, at the edge of town there is another overtake lane so I just chilled and waited. We reach the edge of town and Ive got the car cruising at 4000rpm and waiting for the expected, when sure enough I hear the V8 start roaring to life as the guy tries to leave me behind and I stomped the go pedal, and what am I greated with.... mr big shots V8 SS rapidly getting larger in the wind screen as I closed the gap, I change gear just in time for the overtake lane and pass him with ease. He didnt bother chasing me and as soon as the overtake lane ended, he slowed down again trapping everyone else and continued his little game. My car has no power mods, I had a pod filter but had to put the old airbox back in after a bird put a hole in my pod filter.

A TT is substantially faster than an NA, so all I can say is those Supra guys should lay off the crack:cool:

    P.S. I still like Supra's:p

the supras do have a strong engine though...they can take more horsepower than our engines can...but obviously you would have to spend more than an arm and leg to get those figures...

trav miss has a supra twin turbo auto stock boost...wen i had stock boost i was infront the whole time...

my mate has a supra converted to single turbo, pumpin 10psi atm with 200 at the wheels...with my car on 13psi ive always been infront...

but he has it back in the workshop getting aftermarket ecu and huge injectors to run some high figures at least 300 at wheels with the garret single turbo .7 housing....so i wont be able to talk after its finished LOL...

so the conclusion to this is

stock supra auto - stock 300zx auto = zed infront
stock supra man - stock 300zx auto = supra infront & vice versa

modified supra and modified zx = well it just depends whoiz car is pumpin more power out...

the supra and 300zx are very alike in weight distribution and engine power (stock)....

in the end i know i would rather spend $30 on a boost controller bump is to say 12psi safely without a tune etc and be pumping some nice figures...while with the supra you'd have to spend thousands to get there....and this is what it all comes down to in my mind...i laugh at anyone who has spend so much money on their car to get such power wen i havnt hardli spent anywhere near them and am either neck to neck or better.

Sounds like a bunch of wanker yr 11 school kids, not adults.

I love my car but im not going to put other's down if I'm not intrested in their's. I respect whatever the other driver chooses to drive and if people talk shit just ignore them. Let the car do the talking. :p :zlove:

    ZXxx Getting Stiggy wid it!

I think that you'll find that most supra drivers are dellusional and see this as the reflection everytime they sit in their car:

In say that though, I still love the supra!

We get the same in the UK, the majority of Poopra owners think they are the best car cos of the films and the fact they are easier to mod to a higher BHP and you see more at the top shows running 700+

I don't like the look of them, bloody great tadpole, and have driven one and thought them crap, but the fact is they were a rushed car that Toyota had to bring out to compete with the Zed, and failed.

they havent really failed against the zed. performance maybe, they are pretty damn close. sales and popularity the supra dominated the zed. but who cares, we all know which is the better machine :p :zlove:

    Egg ....

    Think about it...

...but if Nissan didn't make a Z32 there would be no Supra as we know it.
They should be grateful Nissan made a Z32TT, or the Supra would not be as good as it is.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Toyota make bloody good engines and bloody boring cars. I should know, I drive a Soarer V8 daily.

Toyota salesmen are bloody arrogant, and Toyota drivers don't know or care about cars.

The arrogance of Pennant Hills Toyota sent me to Hornsby Nissan, and I ended up buying a Patrol instead of a Land Cruiser and I never regretted it.

I only hate the drivers, not the cars

With all this hate against any car that is not a Z, I must state that I can appreciate and enjoy all good sports cars. I only have a problem with the attitudes of other drivers.
