i dont have a custom box on my type X sub its just your average alberts 12" sub box, although it is ****ing heavy even without the sub in it. by god though , the magnet on the type-x looks like a rocket, its fkn sweet.
set up comes in the way of many things cross overs(targetting certain hz ranges for certain speakers), positioning, amplification, sound dedining, resonant frequencies, box build quality, box size, box thickness/mdf thickness, box reinformance(stopping flex), port style(slotted, curcular) port size (port tuning, hz targetting, setting up for tonality or targetting spl), no ports(broad hz range less spl)
realisticly your looking at around 0-100 in 7.5 depending how hard you rip into the luanch you may even get it 7 flat
Righto, so its no slouch by any means, I'll be competing against BA Ford Falcons which weigh 200KG more but put out 182Kw + shitload of low down torque so I want to be sure to come out on top in an expensive sports car rather than being raped by a $10,000 family car
...you could always try to do a I6 Falcon engine (I don't know what they are called these days) in an Aus Spec Zed coversion. Then you have the best of both words Except, it would sound like a Falcon.
Heh, aint so cheap if you're 17 I6 engine most likely wouldn't fit into the 300ZX engine bay, I6 is freakin' huge (long). No problem with it sounding like a Falcon though, would be one hella good NA 300ZX, thats for sure I got some times for 0-100 for the BA/BF Falcon with the ZF Auto, 7 seconds flat, can get it lower with a set of 4.11 Diff gears.
Bump: What are serious and expensive problems that I could find with a 300ZX? Especially one with about 170,000km on it? Roughly 8 months before I consider buying one.
I have a nice black auto 2+2 I need to sell if you are interested. Its had a lot of work done and apart from a few interior trim pce issues which would be easy to fix. Its is in good nick now.
it's a 20 year old sports car. When new it cost anywhere from around 60 grand +++ (much more for later models) in Australia. Given that this was 20 years ago, there has been inflation in that 20 years so 60 + grand was a LOT of money back then. Expect to be replacing parts for a high end luxury car. Just because the car is cheap doesn't mean the parts are.
