THIS THREAD HAS NO PURPOSE!!!! It hasn't done any of the following: 1. Provided a satisfactory and easy to read for and against in referece to FMIC vs SMIC. 2. Kept this forum a happy place. 3. Been amusing - previous debates have, but this is seriously getting sad. 4. Proven who has the bigger peni$. What it has done: 1. Is wasted peoples time trying to find a satisfactory answer to the original post because they're having to sift through all the repeated crap. 2. Created conflict one again that could have been avoided had searched been used. 3. Made me wonder again, why I keep coming back to this site. Seriously, sort your personal differences out!!! Even I am bored and am unamused. To visitors and newbies to the site it makes everyone here look like a joke. A healthy discussion is good - but this has all been covered before. JP: Get some figures to prove to Nathan that what you believe is right. Nathan: Stop trying to prove you're right all the time because a few cars in the US run decent 1/4 mile times with SMICs. Real world application is much more than a 1/4 mile! You're already on the backfoot saying SMIC is better when you have a FMIC. /end of rant.
hmmm Now the main issue from the first post on coolers seemed its mainly an issue of not getting air to the radiator when it comes to fmic. Therefor smic are better simple due to more air hitting the radiator therfor nice cool engine temps! Now it is a fact that if you have the money and want more then enough cooling performance then no doubt you would go with fmic given that you have means of getting air flow to the radiator so the engine doesnt overheat or even get close to it. So if there is a way of getting air to the radiator with a fmic then it is the best solutioni figure although the porsche 911 TT does have smic and it blew past me while i was redlining 4th like i was doing 50km/h on the M5 but given the price difference i won hahaha
Lol so what would you prefer Franz?.... I get flammed if I post that its been covered before so use search. Then I get flammed by you for covering it again to keep them happy. Some of you need to decide which you want. I believe this is a fairly good summary: This post What more real world evidence do you want? Also hardly "on the backfoot" because I own a front mount. Search through every post Ive ever made on it, Ive always said it was for the looks. There is no law that staes every mod must be for performance Franz.
What would I prefer... ...a happy informative place without all the BS and personal grudges in trying to prove whose right. ...you've done two things here Nathan... First you respond with a one liner making a pretty a big statement. You then say you're not going to get into it and that search should be used - fine. But then you went into a debate again after that and pages later its still going. If people are going to flame you for saying "search" then so be it. Shake your head and know that they are too lazy to do it themselves - why should you do their homework as you have said. I'm not saying its your fault that all this started, but you certainly haven't made any effort to extinguish it. And for EVERYONES reference: The "reply" button does not have to be clicked everytime.
WOOHOO!!!! Opened a can of whoop ass with that question didn't I? Haha. I apprecaiate everyone's input good and bad and I will be interested to see reults from testing in Australia too. I don't really rate dyno testing though as the dyno fans are nothing like the breeze in the real world which makes me think the smic will be ok for my pissy application as I'm not going berserk to get 500+rwhp. I think we've all commented though which is great. Cheers Eich
Yes and We found on road actually similar intake temps as on dyno. Also when we dyno test zed with side mounts we use two fans and with front mount only one. Dyno is easier and more predicatable to do back to back tests to measure change. We do lots of testing and would like to do much more but overheads don't get paid so it is hard. Also when I go to the many track days I don't see many other workshops out testing if any. After our track day when not so silly busy preping cars we WILL do these intercooler tests. By the way we have had very few sales of our corner mounts in last six months or so since I have been explaining the better virtues of the FMIC. They are still much better than factory and much cheaper than FMIC exercise.
