You have to merge the two engines because there are a few small difference.. The oil pickups are different and of course the VG30 wont bolt to the VG33 oil pump. Cant swap oil pumps because they have different sized drive gears in them so you have to swap cranks over. Crank pulleys are different too and you have to mess around with making brackets so everything works if you are using the VG30 gear.
People have modified the pickup to work and are using the VG33 crank but i dont see the point, its easier to swap the crank and oil pump over.

Also, from what i know a Z32 crank will bolt in. Just means you have to use a Z32 flywheel and matching clutch. But the Z31 starter wont work with the Z32 flywheel so you would have to swap to a Z32 gearbox....lol, if you like working late hours go for it!

I couldnt find an engine cheaper than 1500 in Melbourne. Prices ranged from that to 4000, i had to ring around everywhere to find this one. They had another one for 1750 with slightly less k's if anyone is interested. This was a while ago though.

So you also used bits off your vg30? or is it 100% Pathfinder?

Dumb question but where is the sump bowl on a VG33, at the back?

I'm looking again at fitting a VG30DE/TT forged crank into a 33 block, want to able to bolt up a TT flywheel and fit a TT gearbox. Not sure how things like the crank timing belt sprocket line up, fairly sure the big TT oil pump will not fit.

    Anyone got any clues?

My motors got my old VG30 crank, oil pump+pickup, sump and accessories. I had the crank polished, put rings and bearings and all seals when i built it up.VG33 heads are better than VG30 so i used them too. No idea what a Z32 block looks like, wouldnt be too much different to a Z31 block id think so maybe the oil pump will bolt on. You got a picture of the front of a Z32 block with the oil pump?

The Pathfinder sump is kinda reversed to a Z sump so the pickup is at the front.

    Thanks for that.
Would you say that link is an accurate walk through of the process?

Did you use any outside info to help with your build?

I'm going to have to check if a Z32 TT gearbox will bolt up to the single cam30/33 block. You would think it would but I'm told 'no'.

Yeh I think it does too but I'd better check to make sure.

The guts of the Z32 TT manual are literally identical to that of the manuals used in the later model Z31s (FS5R30A) but they're stupid rare. In which case it can indeed be easier to do this swap, rather than trying to source that transmission. Although my Z had one from the factory, hehe! :)

    Timbo did it right!

    So..

The z32's no matter what they say about us ugly ducklings:rolleyes: are internally based on technolgy that were used in the Z31's:p with a few added chassis curves and a few new technology parts available to the new era.

The FS5R30a, The VG30DE's in the 300ZR's, the LSD's in the S3 Z31's. So without us Z31 lovers the Z32's would never have been buillt Same goes with the 280's and 260's. :p So to the poeple that say I hate Z31's

Can this be done on a NA crossmember or is it just easier to find the turbo one?

Also,to not mess with the injectors Ive read to use the VG30 upper and lower intake, did you do the same? Can the injectors on the VG33 be straight swapped with higher cc ones from something else?

There are aftermarket fuel rails available for the VG30E/T the suppliers of which should be able to tell you what injectors fit. The rails are not expensive either.

Yep, the Z31 community rules... If the part is not available, there are a very helpful group of guys in the USA that source suppliers and get it built.

Fuel rails for 11mm import bosch and lucas style top-feed o-ring fuel injectors.

Spy the Multi-Layer Stainless Head Gaskets! I have mine ordered! :)

Do those fuel rails generally take up less realestate then the factory setup?

Are those throttle body and intake spacers really worth the hype, but at those prices how can you go wrong? :)

Hmm space wise I'd say perhaps a touch more room because they're alot wider than the factory rail, but not so much that they'll be a real problem. There is some light machining of the lower intake required though, but nothing a file or a dremel cant handle. They fit with the factory upper intake if that's what you're concerned about.

The spacers have been documented to drop intake temps a few degrees, nothing extreme but it's measurable. It also does away the need for a gasket aswell, which is about as much as the spacer anyway considering it's reusable.

Im running 550cc injectors on the standard top feed rail, no problems.

The VG33 intake manifold wont work with Z31 injectors so yeh, you need to ditch it and bolt on the Z31 manifold. You can use a Pathfinder plenum, supposed to give you more torque but it wont fit under the bonnet without machining it down a fair bit.

Sorry, im wrong..The Z32 bellhousing bolts up but fouls on the chassis when you go to put the starter in..
