Cheers garg, can you see any up and coming problems i may have or anything to take note of at this stage?

Yea no plan man, it all depends on the light i get..some of them stick to the glass i think, not sure how.

So my old mans been into bikes for ages, very keen to get myself one in the not too distant future. Probably when the zed is at a point im happy with mechanically.

I have memories of his Kawasaki Ninja in blue. It ended up getting stolen and the guy killed himself on it on the Sydney harbor bridge.

    anyways..

    matte black ninja maybe?

    Aerial Faceplate

Just a small one today, got this out of the way to prepare for the next panel which I'm planning to do on either Monday or Tuesday.

This bit was fun, lots of heat stretching on a little piece where making a mistake wasn't the end of the world. I was really aggressive with it to see how much abuse it can take...its a lot. You can stretch this stuff about 3 times its original length without losing colour or breaking.

I Put the vinyl flat on the table and pressed the face against it, then heated and pressed it.

Heated it up and slowly worked my way down. Also made a small cut to allow for the hole at the bottom.

Flipped it over and pulled it out flat.

Trimmed it up and pulled all the edges over.

    The finished product

Happy with it once again, gonna tape up the hole on the car until i do that section. Ill also remove the fuel flap and then i should be good to go.

Next bit will be exciting i think ;)
    Cheers for viewing.

    until next time...

Big day tomorrow, ill be doing the back little strip that connects the rear guards on both sides as well as those guards as its all one panel.

Ill give myself about 4 hours i think...maybe more. It really depends on a lot of things. After this is out of the way i cant see myself running into anything that difficult in relation to doors, skirts, front guards or front bar.

Still keen to get it all done in the next few weeks though. My roll of vinyl is getting a lot smaller, i haven't actually measured how much i have left but i know i started with 23.7m. I guesstimated 18m in the beginning to do it all safely and i have made a few meters worth of mistakes which iv turned into offcuts and tried to use up as best i can. I might go back and re do the targas and wrap the trim at the same time, it looked really nice on the trim i did do it to and its lasted.

anyways, that's just my thoughts at this point...

    cheers,
    matt.

    Rear Guards

Well this panel was huge, it stretches from one side of the car to the other and there is a large amount of surface area.

Ran into a few troubles along the way but in the end an amazing result.

The monstrous piece of vinyl i cut for this panel.

Trying to figure out how i would do this alone..took me awhile to actually get the first bit started..my plan changed many times. At first i thought go from left to right then from the corner outwards. The i finally decided on the middle out.

From the middle out we go!

Pulling it around the passenger side first as i had just done the back left side and continued on.

The secret is pulling it tight and low then tacing it down. I whizzed through a lot of the flat area bits.

Had the left side partially trimmed up. Came back later and did it nice and neat.

Pulling it around the other side, had it shaped around the wheel so i could get my arm up and in there to remove potential bubbles(which there was only a couple of the whole time!)

This is how i finished off the inside of the door. Also when i decided that i would use all my trimmings and offcuts to do the inside of the doors when im fully finished the outside :D (top part hadnt been done yet)

This is how i finished the inside of the hatch.(just realized its upside down..fail :p)

    Pre trim
    [IMG]

    Post trim
    [IMG]

    A collection of trimmings :D
    [IMG]

    Another little 1,2,3
(here is one i prepared earlier:D)
    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Initial rough trim of the fuel latch so i could get my fingers in a remove a bubble close to the edge.

    Latch on and looking good.

So i predicted it would take 4 hours...

it took me close to 7 :zlove:

Another fun panel done and ready to move onto the next one. Im thinking skirts as they are small and easy to do. Then doors, front guards and finally front bar.

Cheers for reading/viewing and there will definitely be more in the coming days.

    until next time...

    Side Skirts

3 hours for the side skirts.

Didn't run into any trouble today and they look very nice.

Ill start of with this. Its a sticker that appears to have been put on UNDER the clear coat? its not even straight :bash: !!
just got me thinking though, its on the drivers side guard..im not gonna attempt to remove it. It might have a sort of silhouette effect when the vinyl goes over it...we'll see.

Started off prepping and got it looking like this.

pressed the left side down as an anchor and pulled the right side out and pressed it down. Easiest and fastest way to do it iv found. I used to do it inch by inch :p
    [IMG]

Was considering doing the little door infill at the same time. But decided ill do it as one piece with the door.

    trimmed it up.

    Other side, same deal.

This is how it finished up inside the door, it joines up nicely to the last bit i did. (i plan on covering all that silver when im finished the exterior)

Did the little square bits on both sides.

    Not too bad :p
    [IMG]

    Now the money shots! :D

Very happy with it all once again.

Ill try get the door handles off tomorrow (not even sure how to, im thinking door card off?) I'm sure ill find a tech guide or someone will tell me. :) I dont think the doors will be a mammoth task, maybe an hour each door including trimming.

For everyone who has been saying "i cant wait to see it finished" well either can i, i really cant wait!!!!!!:D

Iv had a heap of fun vinyling and documenting it all, and i hope you guys have enjoyed reading it as much as i have writing it!

cheers for the read guys, and until next time...

    Matt :)

That is amazing work. And the 300z shape really suits that matte black look.

At some point wont you need to register the car as black ?

Very nice work man! To get the handles off from memory you do have to take the door cards of and disconnect the locking rods and a few screws if memory serves.
