I'm running mike smith manis .. but no don't match port the exhaust side just gasket match... .(In theory the lip may help with reversion ).. I'm running 1mm over size ...first page of the build was the proposed old motor specs. .
interesting, building very similar to engine spec except running rm5 solid cams, doing away with the hydraulic lifters and going for adjustable cams. by no means building a drag car, but something that has a bit of top end power(600rwhp). in theory porting the head would yield the same outcome of putting over sized valves and cam, but with retaining the max velocity. obviously doing all three(cams, valves and porting) would achieve the best result. Only draw back to my build is costs. getting heads p&p is not cheep, thus going for bolt ons was the better option. also on that same note there are quite a few cars in the states which use only bolt ons and are achieving 5-600rwhp. to keep everything iv done simple, iv over engineered the engine so it dosent go bang when i race it down the quarter mile. After everything iv basically decided to go with a basic port to increase velocity as much as possible and gasket match the exhaust manifold. just wasent too sure on the specifics of how far everyone goes. love the build, will put alot of envy on other import drivers.
200hp- 10-15% same same, R5 cams will be laggy Best bet, look over the Australian builds DO NOT base them off American results of you'll be disappointed , PS his engine is a freak (in a good way) GL getting similar haha
Well done Rob, the car is going from strength to strength with each set back! My hat comes off to you with your dedication and the patience has definitely been worth it. :br:[TIS]:bow2:
pretty much .. I've seen it estimated around 15 -18% with the Z. Also the UAS dynodynamics shootout 6 reads lower than the newer dynodynamics shootout 6F as they are set at different ramp rates. Ben played around at lower boost close to but still not at the ramp rate of 6F while tuning and there was about 15rwkw difference just under 500rwkw. .
Amazing build, awesome result. This is the biggest HP car we have ever had on our dyno. MPH at the drags will be the real test to compare.
So did you ever get the PPG gears in or are you still running this through a stock box? Also, thanks for the replies to all my questions, no thanks button in here and I never want to dilute your thread with content-less posts :br:
No probs Funny enough I was just going on about the strength of the stock box and.... BOOM ! No more 3rd gear :bash: I gave it beating in 3rd and 4th at 18psi close to 450rwkw for a while then tried 22psi just under 500rwkw which became a little hairy without the rear wing on (but my Girl Friend seemed to like it ) 3rd gear with traction... box couldn't handle it ...too much torque. but it was a tired noisy box . PPG now . . .
Congrats on the build, Rob. I'm a picture guy and would love to see a proper shoot before something else brakes! Make it happen
Haven't had a chance ..but will do Managed a couple of indoor pics as it was raining before cam snapped... And now box :rolleyes2: . And MY BEAUTY WITH MY BEAST
But I've already seen those haha. Need to get some with the wing on... with that power, I'd just be leaving it on
