Yes mate. ...and no there weren't any issues there like yours. However, mine were using the actual stock housings with the RS cores inside. Are yours actually stock OEM housings? or are you using the Hypergear aftermarket housings? as they're slightly different than OEM ones.
Yes, i would recommend using the stock OEM housings over the hypergear housings. I've heard a few instances now where the hypergear housings are lacking over the stock ones.
just get a dremmel out and match port them as much as possible.. moreso on the adapter where it creates a lip . .
Spent a couple of hours with the die grinder this afternoon and they came out pretty good, no more lips. I think I was worried about nothing now. Had to take a heap of metal off the turbo, certainly not 'bolt on'
so would i. it would mean i'd be getting more power. ...btw just so you know, 11.4:1 is actually a safer (richer) AFR than 12.1:1 let alone stoich. So i'm quite happy with it like that for the time being.
i think 11.5 is a good number when running 20psi boost little bit safer and you should be able to get away with a little more timing advance, also you would be suprised how much the afr changes with cold air I'm going to tune mine to ~11.8:1 on the coldest day possible so it might end up been as low as 11.3:1 on a hot day
i think 11.5 is good for stock pistons since it will cool the piston crown a bit. on a forged motor ib be tuning to 12
Wondering if the dumps are a restriction as they would be the same diameter as the outlet on the turbo, and the wastgate has its own exit. The wastegate on these turbos and turbine size is more of a restriction than the exhaust exit, mattb
in my case the n power dumps were a major restriction, i didnt get to dyno it in between, but switching back to stock dumps picked up 4psi on teh same boost controller setting.......
I was thinking more along the lines of avoiding detonation if say you thrash it at a track day everything gets very hot, but good point. Forged motor is on hold for a little bit have run out of money stock turbos was smoking to bad to even drive so highflows are going back on stock motor for a bit anyway, had the motor out in 4hrs its still sitting on the floor now though
*UPDATE* SMIC's upgraded! As mentioned in my first post, i'm getting ~4psi pressure drop from maxing out flow in my TRUST SMIC's. So I've bought a pair of new Huge Mo-Fo SMIC's (the James007 ones), and whacked them in yesterday. Nice and shiney, they came polished, and the build quality is great. The old TRUST IC's (don't mind the bug guts everywhere ) Off comes the front to pull the oldies out Size comparison of the TRUST and the Huge Mo-Fo's. About the same depth. But the huge mo-fo's are almost twice the height! A quick test fit to make sure it all sits properly. Not much room left there! Now a quick lick of paint in sexy satin black for a nice stealth look - and not to scream out "look at my aftermarket Intamacoolers coppers!" Passenger side i had clearance issues with the charcoal cannister. I had to bend some of the hard pipes up above the cooler, and 2 i had to cut off and bypass using hose to get out of the road, but no probs after a couple of beers and some swearing. Yay, all mounted up and ready to put back together now. All done! Still using the stock ducting. Just had to trim and bend a few parts of it to accommodate the bigger coolers, but all fits and works nice. Testing: I have my EBC in the dash, and also a separate boost gauge on my A pillar. I've fed my EBC it's vacuum feed from the charge pipe after the turbo but before the IC's. And i've fed my vaccum sourse to the boost gauge from the balance pipe. This way, i can see how much pressure drop i'm getting over the IC's and what boost the actual manifold is getting. Before (with the TRUST IC's) i was getting 20psi boost from turbos and 16psi into the manifold. Now (with the huge mo-fo's) i'm getting 18.5psi. That's without changing boost settings or any adjustments at all. Just from swapping the coolers, i can clearly see that i've gained ~2.5psi manifold pressure. And yes, i can feel this difference while driving. So i've gained some more power instantly! Next on the to do list will be install the Magnaflow X-pipe centre resonator that's sitting in my shed, as my two old kakimoto resonators have collapsed. But when i get that put in, i'd say i'll get some custom dumps made up aswell to help rule out if the Npower dumps are restricting flow aswell. ...Then, back onto the dyno for another figure! Will keep you's updated. :zlove: ...now i better go and clean my car to get all that bug guts off the front before i get flamed! :rofl:

Lookin' good Benny! Which 'coolers are they? Japtec ones? Any clearance issues with the side indicators? Are you still making 20psi at the turbo? 1.5psi drop between the turbo and the manifold is pretty darn good
because that will risk over pressurising the fuel tank. It's there for a reason, so i'm not going to remove it. lol. But they did clear after some minor mods to it though, so all good. Chrispy, they're the original James007 Huge Mo-Fo coolers from his group buy ages ago, Heavytrevy had them unused and sold them to me. They're not the Japtek ones, but i'd say the Japtek's are of similar specs. Clearance for the side indicators were'nt an issue at all for me. They are tucked in nice and close using stock plumbing, and i can only assume that people that may have come across indicator clearance issues with their big SMIC's is because of the pertruding hard pipes from the carbon canister fouling on the cooler - hense pushing them out further which would in turn interfear with the indicator. I eliminated this issue for me by bending some of those hard pipes out of the road, and the 2 that i couldn't bend, i cut off and used flexible hose to bypass them which worked nicely in my case. Pressure drop i'd round off to probably 2psi over these coolers, so i'm very happy with this. However i'll get a more accurate testing opportunity when i replace my collapsed resonators with my new centre resonator, as my restricted exhaust is limiting boost a bit aswell due to poor flow currently.
