I am assuming you've obviously checked the alternator and that it's charging the battery instead of letting it drain...

The car started first go and idled fine, then it was struggling to idle when i was turning my car over. Then turned off.

I dont know how to check the alternator so no i haven't checked it, but it shouldnt be the alternator as the battery has heaps of charge.

Alright sorted mums car. The fuel reader said it had fuel but because my driveway is on a slope it read it wrong.

But old reliable Z is still under the weather!

I have bought a S2 PTU to see if this helps, I an leaning towards maybe some wires aren't connecting properly?

Is there any specific places I should be looking for wires/cables to be faulty and not connecting properly?

I have also bought a multimeter, but because of time and me having a broken ankle I had to get one off eBay to get sent to me.

I have also put new terminals on the cables.

Now, the last time tried to have a go jump starting it, when I turn the key the starting sound gets faster and faster then slows right down again and keeps repeating that pattern.

you need to cut off and remove the series 1 pigtails, and wire the loom from the ecu into the s2 pigtails

the wires all line up exactly the same

but the ground "middle black cable" switches sides (the ptus both have 7 pins and 6 pins on each side, 1 pin per cylinder, and the 7th for grounding, the ground just switches sides on the s2 ptu, so the 7 pin on the s1 becomes the 6 pin on the 2, minus the middle black ground, and the 6 pin on the s1 becomes the 7 pin on the s2 with the addidion of the black ground wire in the middle )

i did have a diagram i drew up on a bit of paper with all the colors of the wires noted, but i cant find it :/, but its simple enough

still been looking, but for the life of me, i cant find it. but easy enough. you dont want to get stuck not knowing which wire went where, so draw up a picture of the ptu first, and with a list of 1-6 and 1-7 then write which color wire goes where, so you dont get confused once you start cutting them off =] or you can also simply refer to the wire colors on the s1 pigtails, what ever is easier for you :D

    now i have found it

I wrote this down for reference after i done mine just incase i ever done something and forgot where the wires went

this is where my wires went on the s2 pigtails

    the 7 pin connector

    pin 1 : solid blue
pin 2 : blue with brown stripe
pin 3 : blue with red stripe
pin 4 : black wire from the 7 pin on the s1 connector
pin 5 : blue with white stripe
pin 6 : blue with black stripe
pin 7 : blue with tan stripe

    6 pin connector

pin 1 : blue with red stripe
pin 2 : red with tan stripe
pin 3 : red with green stripe
pin 4 : red with silver dots
pin 5 : red with white stripe
pin 6 : black with silver dots

I haven't had any luck, I might take it to a mechanic or something. Thanks for your help though. It's just a bit hard trying to get stuff done when I'm on crutches lol.

Is there anyone in Canberra on here that would come have a look?

Dono if its been said but bad earth somewhere?
    Sounds like a power leak.
If its manual you could push start it?
oh wait... 300's are shit at that... but could try.

Also, could check for power drain, see if the actually power is dropping or the mechanics themselves are just cramping/slowing

Ok we just got it started, via roll start. The clutch isnt engaging now. It feels very very light and just wont engage at all. What could have caused this?

yeah i checked the fluid, i think i might be leaking or the clutch cable is stuffed. could it be a F****d clutch?

I had nrma here to check it, and he thinks its something to do with the hydrolic mechanism. So im getting it towed to my mechanic with free2go.

If I have to fork out for a new clutch i'll be at my wits end.

EDIt: Also, that 15 second drive I had in the Z for the first time in 3 months, all in second gear, was the best 15 seconds ever.

Yep shes a nightmare, but a dream when its working :)

Its at the mechanics now, they reckon its a slave cylinder? and they said its not too much of a hassle, also it starts now. I think we fixed it gang.
