Yeah true. If they wanna write it off tho, they can pay me out 10k at least (insured with my current insurer for that) with an option to buy back.

If the colour isn't right, they can keep respraying it till it is.

Market value doesn't mean shit. U could have a 100,000 show car for all they know. I'll argue and keep arguing till I get my way ;)

hate when people say no bog.

you know if its a brand new panel then it still needs welding, grinding and of course some bogging, its not magically gonna glue itself to the rest of the car. The 1/4 panel will probably be joined to the rest of the car somewhere at the back in the middle, which means cutting and grinding and welding, etc.

and the prices you got are for new panels yeh? The insurance company chooses wether the parts are new, 2nd hand or just repaired. If the insurance company wants to they can just tell the repairer to fill it with bog....cause its cheaper.

dont be scared of bog mate you cannot get a car thats been in an accident 100% strait without a bit of bog, no matter what you think you know its actually physically impossible. Personnaly i would first get quotes to get it fixed privatley and you provide the repairer with some 2nd hand parts, as with the prices you have provided for new panels the insurance company will prob write it off.

they will match the color, and if its not close enough they will just blend it out, your dreaming if you think your gonna get a respray out of this.

Im not being rude but i think you also fall into this catagory. Again, im not being rude or trying to be an asshole but some people live in a fantasy world when it comes to smash repairs.

I don't think I will get a respray, I just don't want a shit job. If they can't match it close enough, they can keep trying. A close friend kept rejecting the job till the whole side of his car was resprayed. Furthermore, I am aware you are a panel beater/spraypainter. And there are people who do shit work and others who do exceptional work. I am aware there is putty/small amounts of bog in all nearly all repairs but the amount varies on the skill of the repairer and what sort of work they do. When I say no bog, i essentially mean don't pull the big ass dent out, dolly it and bog the shit out of it, i want the panel replaced.

Panel work isn't rocket science and I just don't want the car back in a lesser condition than it was initially.

    Egg ....

    Remember.

If the other party is insured, you were rear ended while trying to turn left... liability should not be an issue.

You have a lot more rights when you've been hit by an insured vehicle and liability is not in question.

Hope you get a good result.

lol keep arguing, its you who is in a loss not them, they can keep dragging it on for ages if you play that game and your shattered remains will continue to rust.

8k with the car back probably...

the colour will be close and they wont do it again, there are clauses for custom colours in the paper, i know this because mine has an extra clause for custom colour for when its scratched or damanged etc that they WILL have to do a full respray.

and the market value means everything, if you dont have an agreed value higher and its not a highly collectable car (for which the value would be higer anyway) then the market value is the be all and end all regardless of if you put 100k of parts on it....

Oh I do have an agreed value that is higher tho. Thats the thing :) The agreed value with my current insurer is 10k hence I would like 10k if the other insurer decides to write it off. Id also like the option to buy the car back.

I also assumed the condition of a car would be something the insurance company would take into consideration. I guess only when it suits them... :(

A hate this situation tho. All I want is the car repaired to a satisfactory condition. :(

ive been there man, i know the feeling..

honestly they dont usually care for anything else but that value, expecially if most are bolt ons... is simple maths, if it costs more than X% of the agreed value then it wont be repaired...

but yeah if 10 is the agreed then i would be guessing you would get 8k + car back for that option.

    Hope it can be repaired

Pull it apart and see how badly she's creased. Its difficult to say from the pic but your door cap might be messed up too. If the door gap is ok I'd repair it but if not then find another shell. Good luck with it. Regards Ivan

correct me if i am wrong but if you are with shannons they will pay you out if they write it off and you have the option to have the wreck back free.
I have returned many cars to owners from insurance yard with shannons after the car has been written off, no charge.

Hope for you that is the case with your insurance.

as tempting as it might be, i would not be touching anything until it has been closely examined by an assessor ... you do not want to do anything that will give the Insurance company an "out" .. they will if they can ... !!!

I knew someone that couldn't come to a satisfactory agreement with the insurance company so the car was written off and when the car was collected it was mod-less with a junkermotor.
    just sayin:rolleyes:
But on a personal note. i was T boned by a P plater in the Midland railway station car park in his mums car. There insurance company assessor came over to look at the car and we negotiated a cash payment (3x the price i had paid for it) and i kept the car .I didn't have quotes:rolleyes: Well i didnt need them as the cost of repair would have been more than market value, but a still drove it around for a while before selling

    AndyMac Better than you

Looking at that, I will unfortunately have to agree with Josh. Thats a painful area of the car to repair, not only are the rear quarters double skinned, but it would be a cut and weld job to replace them with fresh ones, let alone if the boot pan is damaged.

It's a massive labour job, it's not about the cost of parts.

It's a shiitty situation, but your best outcome is going to be write off, get the car back and transplant into a nice straight car. You might even end up with some cash back your way...

Should be a seperate crime for that - hitting a Z32 is an act of war, not a traffic violation!

if its through the other party's insurance they have to fix it..they cant write it off..
i was rear ended by a council truck a few years back in an XB falcon..
they offered me $1800 and i said nope i want it fixed..
they paid to have it fixed ..cost them $4900 to fix

OK, so who actually pays for the repairs? I mean, you're not at fault, so doesn't that mean that even if you get $10k from Shannons, it's actually coming from the insurer of the driver at fault? Or are all the costs of the repairs paid for by Shannons? I presumed it would be the other insurer and thought that's what will happen with my Mazda that got rear ended last week.
