I haven't checked underneath as yet. I'm a little scared to lol. After the accident, drove past the bottle o on the way home and grabbed a carton to drown my sorrows... Out of curiosity, what do u reckon they'll offer if they wanna write it off?
hay dude pull the lights and that off and ill come over after the shut and have a look. ive seen worse than that get fixed and you would never know its been in a bingle.
insurance will write it off with a workshop quote . if you want to keep the car and are able to supply quotes keep it under $4500 they tried to write off my car for a front guard
Bad luck mate . But it looks all above the tyre well/floor pan , so guessing it would be a ppanel beat job and some new parts . If the rails and pan is undamaged its relatively straight forward repair dude . Good luck with it , I feel your pain
Yup, defo gonna buy it back if its written off. Just concerned as to what the "written off" figure would be...
Yeah the guy worked for a drilling company so its their insurance company I will have to go through. Will have to give them a call on Tuesday.
lol, yeah it did crack actually. Looks as though the parts list through Nissan Australia would be extensive: 3rd Brakelight - $300-$400 Tail light and centre panel - $350-$450 Rear bumper - $600-$900 Rear Apron - $600-$800 Rear quarter - $??
Me too! All I could do was smile and shake my head. I was in shock a bit i think. Couldnt believe what happened to my poor zed. And she was going soo well too
Yeah true. I am insured with Shannons insurance for $10k. If they want to write it off, they can pay me the 10k and not a penny less. If they want to repair it, I would like brand new parts ie: New bumper, new tail lights, new infil, new apron, new rear quarter panel and match the custom paint perfectly. If they cant match it, respray the whole thing. Defo would like to buy it back tho...
Yeah true Simmo. Was just gutted coz I really loved the combination I had being slicktop n all. If they write it off, I wanna replicate the zed 100% with another slicktop shell.
Dunno if it touched the rails as yet... Its just that its a pretty big repair for any workshop to undertake and considering the insurance companies generally wont use second hand parts, finding a rear quarter would prove difficult for them.
Cheers dude. I guess regardless of the outcome, she has been published in all her glory in the calendar. Soo glad to have made it in while she was looking her best.
Yup totally agree. I think half the people they deal with wouldnt know whats involved in repairing a damaged vehicle. Thankfully most of us here on aus300 do. Whilst getting quotes, I will state exactly what I would like done. ie: All new parts, no bog, whole rear qtr panel replacement. I'll also be popping in to check progress daily. There is no way they will be able to match the colour either. Its a metallic red with a small amount of orange in the clear apparently. If they cant match it 100%, they can respray the whole car.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing regarding it being a writeoff. I've seen AK's red zed. Its in excellent condition... Guess I'll wait n see what the insurance company says and go from there.
Unfortunately the other car was a landcruiser with a bullbar. Poor zed had no chance. Guy was in his 60's. He assumed the damage would be under $3000 so no need for an accident report. lol. I kindly informed him that any and all parts for the 300zx are fairly expensive and the damage would easily exceed $3k. Repairable maybe... I hate being in limbo not knowing what the next step is
Yeah true, I doubt theyll try and repair it especially if I want another rear quarter panel grafted back on. Didnt abuse the other driver. I know accidents happen and I just couldnt believe my luck. Just smiled and shook my head in disbelief. I dont think the jolt was hard enough to cause any whiplash, but I'll definitely be keeping it in mind just in case I feel any discomfort over the next few days. Cheers for the concern and advice m8.
