We were running 24psi, but I'll probably wind that back to 20 for safety sake. I'm not sure why the ceramic came off, but it is odd that the spark plug that had the problem was one that had been swapped in to replace a faulty one so it wasn't one of the original set. maybe it had been misstreated or dropped at some point before I bought it? Everything else on the engine is fine and all the combustion chambers are good. No issues with valve wear which says a lot for the quality of work done by the guys who built the heads 8 years ago.

hehe, want to plugthe guys who rebuilt the head pete :p

As for me, it looks like I may be out too! Sorry guys, after another inspection it looks like my 'dodgy' gearbox was falsely diagnosed, so unless something proves otherwise I'll be out of the loop for this one...

Can I see who is still interested

I have another supplier in QLD who can match the current price and maybe even better it. This supplier could deliver much faster too so if anyone is interested I'll cancel with Simon and go ahead with "new supplier"?

On the face of it yeah I am interested still... but would want to know

    • who are they coming from?
    • what is the timeframe?
    • what are the warranty details?

Warranty is the big one, has to be exact warranty details too, not the "warranty is 12 months or 20,000km (standard NISSAN parts warranty)
if warranty claim is required the vehicle is taken to any NISSAN dealer Australia wide, provide proof of purchase (ttzed invoice) and the service department will complete an inspection to determine damage and cause thereof. Subject their findings (ie remove your race number prior ) they would rule as to valid warranty claim or not. "
you were told by ttzed that turned out to be total bullshit.

I wish I had just bought from coz when the dollar was good... if this new offer doesn't get off the ground I will probably sit on my hands until the $AUD/JPY improves and then source from my own supplier in Japan.

My concerns are similar to Rob's. Can you please provide us with the details? Thanks for sticking with it.

I'll try and answer your questions when I get a reply from the supplier. However I don't understand your need for a warranty. Do you really think Nissan would warrant a new gearbox in a zed that did not have an original drivetrain?

Yes mate they do. If a buy from nissan australia then i can return the box to any nissan dealer in the country for a warranty claim. If it has been installed by a nissan dealer then they will cover the labour as well. If i buy from a third party like ttz or your new mystery supplier then it is up to that retailer to service the warranty.

I'd hope so. If I buy a water pump from Nissan they warranty it for 12 months. It's just another part - just bigger.

    It's not just another part

Senario: You buy a nissan box and have it fitted by nissan. You have a valid warranty claim, the gearbox failed. You get the car into a nissan shop for an inspection and they discover your car is not standard, therefor is not being used for it's intended purpose. They will put their hands in the air and say you have a modifyed car and that is why the gearbox broke.

Dude this is only your imagination talking. If I was to go ahead and buy from Nissan I would of course read their warranty terms and conditions before signing for it.
Really???? And this is information from.....? Not from Nissan dealer, Nissan warranty, or personal experience. Totally hypothetical conjecture and in no way related to the orginal question anyway.

I have a scenario -for the benefit of those of us genuinely interested can you please post who this new supplier is and what their actual warranty terms are. I am not trying to be nasty here but this is gettting ridiculous.

At this stage no I can't tell you the terms of the warranty, but I will find out. Also I won't name the supplier just yet because they approched me personaly and I have not yet asked about putting their name on this buy. I was expecting a call from him today.

What do you mean rediculous, what is getting rediculous?
