If the timing works out I could always bring it up at Easter time next year. I'm still interested in getting a spare gearbox, but the fact that the shipping from Coz could blow out worries me. There is also no point in getting a new box with a warranty if you have to pay to remove it and ship it back to the states to get it fixed. That is useless.

Aside from no communication and three month waiting time...

Shipping won't blow out, and allowing for extra expenses still stays below other price and with a 4-6 week wait rather than 3 months.

If your TTzed box fails you still have to pull it out and take it to a Nissan dealer and hope they they will honour your warranty with a TTzed receipt... or return to ttzed for another wait?

    three months

not uncertain, he has told us upfront, and those bying are not in a hurry from what I can gather. Also I have had quite a few comunications with him, just takes a few phone calls. ye with little faith

Yes, I would be in on the TTZ group buy at the prices set out. I'm in no rush as I have said so I don't mind if it takes the next 6 months. The Coz buy looks cheaper on paper, but there is no guarantee that the price wont rise one other factors such as brokerage fees are included. While Coz is great to deal with and quick to ship smaller items I remember him having problems with the 2000 spec rear light group buy so it is possible that he might struggle with this group buy, since I doubt he holds large quantities in stock.

Hang on a sec, there is a guarantee that prices won't rise beyond the additional costs already discussed in this thread and above....

Again this has been dealt with and it will take three to four weeks to assemble the order. So total timeframe of five weeks from payment to receiving the box.

I don't care if the group buy doesn't go through coz, but please let's have members decide based on the facts, not scary "what ifs" that have already been covered.

If it ends up going through TTzed then I will sit out and order separately through coz at a time more convenient to me. Anyone in NSW keen to save some shipping would be welcome to combine with my order.

    I agree Rob.

We have both been guilty of that.

You want to deal with Coz, fine. I feel more comfortable dealing with TTZ. Lets just leave it at that.

warranty info THE FULL STORY and price from Nissan

OK, first let me say I have no agenda here, if the ttzed group buy works out better than coz then fantastic and good for ttzed. That said there are some things not adding up...

Seeing as it has come down to warranty I thought I would chase this up with my local Nissan dealer. We were originally told that

Now, according to the manager at my local dealer, Nissan warranty only applies to parts bought from Nissan. If you buy the box from ttzed then you will have to return the box to to ttzed, same as you would with coz.

Also, if you buy the box from Nissan and have it installed at a Nissan dealer, they will also pay for the labour involved. If you install yourself or have it installed at another workshop then you are responsible for remove and refit. If you show up at Nissan with a noisy gearbox and a ttzed receipt they will not inspect free of charge, they will not remove and refit free of charge, and they will not supply another gearbox free of charge.

So it seems that where warranty is concerned you are in the same boat with either party (coz or ttzed) and that is info from Nissan, not a retailer. I encourage anyone doubting this to call their local Nissan dealer and speak to the parts manager to confirm.

Also having spoken to Nissan I can confirm that

If (as I suspect for a number of reasons) these boxes are coming from a Nissan japan dealer then that is where they will have to go for a warranty claim. Nissan Australia and Nissan Japan are two different entities and there is no worldwide warranty on gearboxes.

    Also re shipping

Nope if coming from an Australian dealer the dealer has a list price in $AUD to play with. An order would ship to Nissan in approximately eight weeks.

As I said at the outset I do not have an agenda here, other than getting gearboxes at the best price with all the facts on the table. I don't want to see anyone basing thier decision on incorrect warranty information. To be 100% clear I am not anti ttzed or anti macman, but we are obviously not getting the full story.

For anyone interested the price from Nissan AUS for five boxes with full warranty is $3300/box.

    ??

This is all starting to seem a bit incidental. I don't even follow everything your saying Rob. Simply there is a difference of about $200 between coz and ttzed in coz favour, there would be less cost involved in doing a warranty job with ttzed then coz (but I doubt this would happen), and you still havn't given us 100% certainty on the shipping taxs issue which would blow the cost to the same as TTzed or higher?

Reread, I'm saying there is a huge discrepancy between the warranty info provided so far and the info from Nissan. Definately not incedental.

What's the chance of blowing a new gearbox? Really.... Only things that would go are synchro's or bearings, both are hardy things. You would have to run 1500n.m through it or drain all the oil before something went wrong.

PS, everybody's old g'box's to me cheap! :D

The zed isn't going so well right now so I'm gonna have to pull out of this. I'll just get one from Coz once I'm ready.

As we are going through TTzed, I assume we make the payment direct to him and therefore can use creditcards to make the final payment?
