    where does that leave us

Rob, can you get more info. Is there a warranty? How will payments be taken? Is that price per 5 of one part number? What is the delivery time from dat of order?

When you have these answers and I have a new price from Simon we can compare apples with apples. The if Coz is cheaper you can start a new GB thread.

    Good price by the way.:)

If ordering for one bulk shipment then buyers transfer funds to me, and i pay coz via mastercard.

If ordering for individual delivery then just as easy for buyers to pay with their own credit cards. That price for individual delivery does not require a minimum purchase, member xyz could contact coz at any time and get a 'box for that price.

Price of $2315 is for five buyers.

Price of $2505 does not require a minimum order.

Approximately three to gour weeks for coz to assemble the order (if going with a bulk order of five units), waiting to hear back re: shipping time.

Just a thought; can these be ordered through COZ and drop shipped direct from the manufacturer to Australia; may work out even cheaper?

    More Coz Info

Yes, Nissan warranty applies. Only downside is user returns box at own expense for warranty claim.

Three to four weeks to assemble the order, shipping time is within one week.

For mine I think Coz is the way to go, although I would suggest that the bulk price of $2315/unit for five units is only economical if all buyers are from the same state.

Otherwise I think buyers would be better paying the extra $190 to get it sent direct. Courier on a gearbox would be a bitch, the best quote I could find on a 10.25kg cam kit was $78 interstate so I can't see much change from $190 on a gearbox.

I would not go ahead with a ttzed group buy, not only for price but also timeframe and general reliability.

Anyways over to the buyers.... what do we reckon?

So if I'm making a warranty claim I have to pull the box and ship it back to the states?

Yes that is correct and definately a down side.

I definitely see that this can be a cheaper option, but can Coz guarentee that there wont be any import costs on top of that? Because If we get stung with additional fees (we're not exactly importing guage rings here) we can be looking very much at $2700odd for min 5units anyway...would be great if he can, but like Pete said if you have ANY issues it would be a BIG pain! It'd most likely be cheaper to fix it at your own costs rather than ship a single unit to the US vs getting Simon at TTzed to make a claim through Nissan Australia...

I have bought many thousands worth of items with Coz, so I have no issues about his timing and quality, but I would like a concrete answer before I spend $2500ish on this as I am really breaking the bank and if I get stung with unexpected import costs thats going to really hurt

Still no response from Simon, up to his usual dissaapearing trick?

I couldn't ask Coz to make that guarantee. While he could and does employ every trick in the book there is no way I can guarantee a container of five gearboxes would sneak through customs un-examined.

When I ran the tailshaft group buy from NYX two or three years ago, it was on the proviso that participants were prepared to pay GST if required.

Consider though that those prices ($2315 and $2505) plus GST is still cheaper than TTzed. Certainly not $2700 each for five more lik $2500. Import duty not a problem thanks to free trade agreement, remember these are coming from US not Japan, country of origin on shipping declaration will be USA.

But the gearboxes will be stamped.......

    "Made in Japan" by NISSAN!

won't this mean the FTA with the US will not apply to these gearboxes??as it is where they are manufactured that is important not where they are shipped from??.....& therefore Import Duties will have to be paid??

so maybe as with GST buyers should be 'prepared' to pay just in case??.......definitely something to factor into the equation when making the decision??

Please correct me if I'm wrong??

    Depends.

If they are comming from Nissan USA then they'd be a product of them.

It matters how the paperwork is filled out...

as long as they don't visually inspect

the gearboxes within the container when they arrive??.......wouldn't this be a possibility?? :(

Yes, I've received some faulty good back that I had 'sold' him lol, but yeah, I understand its complicated! If these come from Coz and get shipped direct instead of a crate of 5, can you ask Coz if we would be able to order some extra...smaller things to go in each box? That way we can at last save some money as they wont change the delivery cost much at all...could be a good chance to organise another group buy to minimise overall costs ;)

    Cheers, Andrew

    So

They would be ordered with a chance of being taxed which would make them $200 cheaper than TTzed and the warranty would be (for all intensive purposes) useles. I think $200 for a 12 month warranty is worth it. Stick with Simon I think no uncertainties.

    JUST SPOKE TO SIMON

Prices and ordering are still fixed as in my first post in this thread. Arival is aproximate 3 months from date of order and Simon would require full payment before ordering.:) :)

So now there should be no more questions.

    2000 (CBD and metro NSW, Sydney) $ 74.19+79+2797 = $2950.19
    3000 (CBD and metro VIC, Melbourne) $ 57.82+79+2797 = $2933.82
    4000 (CBD & metro QLD, Brisbane) $ 101.92+79+2797 = $2977.92
    * Nth QLD (Rockhampton) $ 177.46+79+2797 = $3053.46
    5000 (CBD & metro SA, Adelaide) $ 74.19+79+2797 = $2950.19
    6000 (CBD & metro WA, Perth) $ 187.46+79+2797 = $3063.46
    7000 (CBD & metro TAS, Hobart) $ 167.45+79+2797 = $3043.45
    0800 (CBD & metro NT, Darwin) $ 300.11+79+2797 = $3176.11

    Group Buy Manual Gearbox

    Hi macman,

Thankyou for all of your time and chasing questions & quotes e.t.c.

Unfortunately, I'm going to go it alone with a single purchase from overseas. I"ve very carefully considered my options and weighed up all the options and it would appear to me my decision would be the right one for me only.

It also seems there is plenty of interest on this subject as long as the 'finer' details are ironed out and definately nailed down correctly.

Again, thanks for your efforts on this group buy.

    Cheers.

I assume pickup for Melbournians would be an option also? I think the fixed price (unless it drops ;) ) is looking good for me, especially as Im in a position to pick it up from TTzed direct...Timewise its not a huge issue as my current gearbox is working, just rough in the low gears (manual)...
