Went out to a Skyline Drag Day today at WSID. Never been drag racing before and tacho not working for some reason after doing some work on the car last few days, had the centre console out whilst welding as had to run a tail shaft loop safety thingo. Made it real hard to keep it straight and change gears at the right rpm.
Anyway first run did a 12.18 Ended up doing a 11.5 don't know the hundredth of second bit ( Wizard help)and 130mph 60ft I think was 1.89. Best bit was the fastest of around 20 or so Skylines was a GTR that did a 12.34. On the Skyline forum they were sort of joking when I told them I said I would prob go out and do a 11 sec and upped it to first run ever. Missed by .18 of a sec.
Big thanks again to the rock Wizard for helping me, as I could not have done it without him.
Going out again Wed night 10th Nov and put down the challenge to the Skyline guys today to get their act together. They say they will hit it with lots of Skylines hitting the track that night. I believe there are a few zeds going this night also so should be a big one.

Very well done!! 11.5 is an awesome time! especially

your 60' time for the first time at the track. 130mph would have to be a record here? I believe ZisLuv's best was 127? There is only room for improvement the more times you get down there! a 10s pass wouldn't be to far off with those sort of ET's? Your 60' time and trap speed show that your car must be perfect all round. A lot of other cars with similar power have a crappy 60' time. Just goes to show your low end power works a treat

Also can you post some more info on how you got the 9:1 compression? I don't really know what it means but somewhere to start would be great.

    Thanks

    Bring it on

Yes Gene get some tyres or I will have something for you if not as not going with our sticker on your car with those cheese cutters and all that power. Lets really smash the Skylines.
Yes if has more in it 130mph is 10 sec potential car. I had fairly old and worn circuit racing radial slicks and they were slipping all the way even 4th gear. By the time I worked out the burn out thing starting in second, the gear box was getting hot and could not change gears very fast. It has Redline Shockproof Light already but might put fresh stuff and maybe the super light stuff. It is getting very tired after so many track days. Also the 4 piston rear brakes with race pads were biting and hard to do good burn outs, plus didn't want to kill the car. Some suspension adjustment and warmer track temps will help as only around 22 C today. It will go better low 11's maybe 10's.

Yes 9 to 1 comp is the go drag or circuit or street. You don't need big expensive turbo's or low comp pistons as both will just be lag followed by lag.

    Awesome day

John, skyline boys were good sports stiring all day, but i think after seeing the slot car run, it opened a few eyes as to how good the Zed really is.
11.561 at 130.19 MPH being best run of the day, and the best thing is there's more left in it yet, as traction was a problem all day, with the tyres spinning up in all 4 gears.
pretty sure that takes you to the top spot in Risky's
quarter mile drag list for aus300 zeds.
Took a pic of the time slip to appease the doubters

    Very well done!

Show those skyline boys how misguided they are when it comes to our zeds. Especially this guy from the skyline forum
All I ask to this guy, is considering how much this supposed 'anchor' FLOGGED ALL of the Skylines, what does that make his car??:LOL::LOL:

On ya John! Keep the good times rolling

What an animal et is ok but real impressive

terminal, in all fairness your car is a fly weight contender compared to zisluv and jpc300. But all 3 car have enough terminal speed to get into the 10s. I believe yours will be the first if you bother going to the drags, set of drag slicks and you could be deep into the 10s.

    Times

JETzx, what times have these dyno queens done? Yes weight as well as driver and set up makes a difference.
Also Shifter, B Man was actually one of my pit crew today. He has a 330rwkw RB25 R33 Skyline which we built the motor. He was not running today.
I see the time slip Ron, you sure you didn't just print that up yourself?
I see air temp only 20c good for power but not traction. Warm moist night good traction faster times to come.

    Skyine link re times.

    One of those.......>>

    As you put it
has run an 11.2, which would put him at the top of the list.

    Nice

B-Man has a formidable weapon. I do like Skylines but my heart will always be for the zed :zlove:

Try as I might, I still cant picture them as anchors :)

I was just pointing out to John that there was at least one car above him in the 1/4 mile list. That car being yours. What happened to you today? We were all waiting to see your car on the dyno.

    Damn that sucks.......>>

I hate breaking stuff, and trust me, I've got plenty of experience at mechanical failures. Someone is sure to do a big write up of the day so I wont try and steal their thunder, but I think the highest on the day was around 310kw.

    Not drag slicks Chewy.
    Ok as i understand it JPC300 has done a 11.2,CMEFLY has done a 11.4, then John with a 11.561.
Couple of others i found looking through past posts Zmoking 12.3, TTZ32 12.564.(Unconfirmed)
I need to get back to the strip and post some good times, its getting harder to stay in Risky's top ten list

Looking in the back of HPI some issues i have

state there are several VG30DETT's running 10's. Is this for australia wide? It also states they don't use nitrous. I have seen a few in the list running as low as 10.2 i think is the best. It doesn't say what trim they are in so it's not a good idea to assume. Can anyone confirm this?
